The Confederate Flag
by Simon inthe latest controversy over the confederate flag just sums up to me the state of dysfunction that exists in american society.. in summary: a white supremacist nutter shoots 9 black people dead in a church.
he's clearly inspired by the messages of others which the confederate flag is often a symbol of.. it seems like a no-brainer to remove it.
not only isn't it removed, it isn't even lowered at all as a mark of respect.. and of course now there are the people who want to defend their right to have it.

Bethel Meeting at Regional Convention
by MrTheocratic ini decided to go to the bethel recruiting meeting yesterday to test out my theory that the organization is in decline.
i assumed that if there is a general feeling of apathy by many in the org, then certainly it would be shown up by the lack of enthusiasm or zeal by many to sign up for bethel service.
well let me say that based on what i observed, this organization is not going anywhere.

If Scientology can survive, how will the WTS not do so?
The appeal to disaffected folks in society will be the same if not stronger in the future, I think. The WT religion has had 100+ years of refining their recruiting techniques and their controlling practices.
But they know they need to change with the times. So far they've been quite adept at changing doctrine to fit their needs.
The JW,org flashy enticement is a way to reach out to the next generation, the tech savvy, smart-phone-in-hand crowd.
The older generation is passing away (and so is it's desires of living forever in a paradise earth without having to die). The WT is moving on and leaving these folks behind.
My feeling is it will definitely be (and already shows signs to be) a different WT religion--more techy, more flashy, less demanding of Bible knowledge and more loyal to the hierarchy.

BORG running low on $$$??
by fader77 indear brothers:.
re: personal literature supply.
reducing existing stock at the branch office before the revisions are released.

What they seem to object to is current publishers having in their personal libraries the books that may remind them how WT doctrine is as fleeting as a fart that after all the noisy hoopla that accompanies it, it makes a big stink and blows this way and that and nobody wants it. Except you force others to put up with the stench. That's how old WT literature is.
Since...
It's obviously ok for publishers to place old publications, even those including outdated doctrines, with the public. Countless times the KM's would run a monthly campaign to place "old 192 page books" still in stock in the literature counters, even 1960's books that delved into Ezekiel, Daniel, and Revelations we would be encouraged to place in service although much of this information was seen as "old light" and no longer part of official doctrine.

No. Many millions who lived in centuries past and who weren’t Jehovah’s Witnesses will have an opportunity for salvation.
CO Scotty Henry took great delight in asking the group meeting for field service if the WT answer in question about others than JW's surviving the Big A included people who are currently living. The Answer was NO, he pointed out the wording savoring the double speak. He loved pointing out how the WT gave such a "clever" answer.
Too bad for the householders that refused taking the literature, and said no to the Organization. In his explanation they had it coming for ignoring the WT.
What a WT tool this little man full of theocratic theatrics really is!

This is what leadership looks like
by Pistoff insince the day pope francis told catholics to stop obsessing about abortion and gay marriage, and get to the business of helping the poor, i have been afraid for his life.. in one statement, he pierced 2 sacred cows of catholic and evangelical thought, and he has not stopped.. he has lectured the world on real evils, mentioning capitalism in particular as a system that has left billions in desperate poverty.. he has now said that global warming threatens the world, particularly the poor, and is calling on the world to change it's lifestyle to save the planet.. i can't remember ever, in my entire life, when someone in as powerful a position as the pope, actually speaks out loud and in public the actual truth of the world's environment and calling the world to action, without regard for the consequences.. hard line catholics don't like him; fox news hates him, one pundit telling him to leave science to the scientists (of course, fox news doesn't leave global warming to the scientists) and today this from greg gutfield, fox news:.
"the most dangerous person on the planet is someone who is seeking strange new respect from their adversaries.
and that is what the pope is doing, said gutfeld, implying that the recognition of the existence of man-made climate change is fundamentally at odds with catholicism.

He's got cojones. Unlike the whiny Fox News political eunuchs with their ineffectual, head-in-the-sand stance towards climate change. -

WT speaking out of both sides of their collective rancid grease traps! Slick as ever, do as I say not as I do, these hypocrites are always spewing counsel they aren't willing to follow themselves.

Preach, preach, preach....feel guilty...preach some more
by Tornintwo insince starting to wake up, i can't help notice how so many talks emphasise preaching, increasing your hours, pioneering etc...with a hefty load of guilt on the side.. i always noticed the guilt, but now i'm noticing how talks that seem to start out on another issue always seem to come back to hours!
visit talk seemed to start out about persecution, trusting in jehovah etc...but the main thrust in the end was, 'do more hours, pioneer, don't get an education or pursue a career, don't get distracted, hooray for the pioneers!
if you dont do more hours you will be 'the sort that shrink back to destruction'.

Tired of service? Go out in service.
As illogical as the counsel above sounds, it's exactly what WT trained elders are supposed to provide to the over-worked, abusively coerced r&f publishers.
The WT religion sucks out the life and joy from people that fall into its clutches. And if you are exhausted they offer no refreshment, you're just like dead to them.

Re: Music at Theocratic Events
by pixel inthis is a crappy letter from the watchtower.
i'm only posting it to show how micro-managers these fools are.
and at the end, they say: "we should avoid making specific rules about somewhat technical matters".

- The highest natural adult male signing voice or the person having that voice.
Are they then asking all the JW males to sing at the highest of the ordinary adult male range. Maybe? I'm thinking BeeGees or Pewie Herman, maybe even Tiny Tim... "Tiptoe through the tulips..."
What a bunch of micromanaging fanatics, they're just like the pharisees, and the WT rag is their Talmud. Now I'm thinking of the Fiddler on the Roof... "If I were a rich man, I'd smoke a doobee doobee doobee doo all day long doobee doobee doo if I weren't a working man!" That's not really the way it goes is it? "Tradition, tradition!"
