I actually went to their 'official' website out of curiosity (inspired by another thread) to see if the Reasoning Book is among their online publications...it's not, btw which is no surprise. Finding this little gem made the visit worthwhile though! Glad you enjoyed it - and thanks for adding to the quotes.

Anyone who can find other quotes where they hoist themselves on their own petard are welcome.

I can attest to this being exactly the case. This combined with the global flood story made everything come crashing down like a house of cards for me. It's rather interesting that the WT on their own website makes it clear just how easy it is to go from belief to non-belief by simply questioning this one thing. It also proves that unless you actually do some reading and research on your own, you'll stay stuck in this hamster wheel of circular reasoning - which is the case with the vast majority of JW's. I actually pity them...

Clearly, you had no way of knowing exactly how this sister's husband would react to another man sending his wife emails, did you? The good thing is that you are alive, and he didn't just get out of Folsom State Prison here in California, having acquired clever ways after serving 20 years or so there to discard the bodies of men that he feels do not give to him the respect that he deserves.

JW's are DEFINITELY not drama queens. Nope, not even a little.

It makes no sense whatsoever that a" CREATOR" would only communicate with a minority of the population then put the onus on them to convey this life saving message to the WHOLE wide world

i now find it idiotic that i could ever beleive the bible to be the inspired word of god.....,throughout the bible "god"has only dealt with a few of his favoured spokespersons to deliver his messages to a minority populace.individuals at first,..... then, patriarchs,nomads,a small nation,ignoring all other nations that had sprung up.......,abandoning his chosen nation,sending his "son"to a small nation, only giving them his pearls of wisdom,much of what was not even recorded for prosperity and remember he never wrote a word,it was left up to other imperfect humans to record what he was supposed to have said,just a smidgen......,again ignoring the bulk of humankind keeping them in ignorance of his plan for universal salvation,leaving it all up to imperfect humans to spread this message of salvation, whom he has already condemned for their sinfullness and disobedience.i just find it so unbeleivable.

in the 6000 years of recorded history only a fraction of the earths population,maybe less than a third have ever heard of the god of the bible, or his so called plan to redeem humankind ,thats millions and millions of people.

( india,arabic,afghanistan,pakistan etc.etc.).

I know that it's in the bible...just like Adam & Eve and the talking snake are in the bible and Jonah swallowed by the big fish is in the bible and Balaam's talking donkey is in the bible etc etc. You've said in the past that you don't believe that everything in the bible is inspired scripture and that a lot of stories in there are allegorical. So is the Abraham being told to kill his son story part of inspired scripture or is it an allegory? And how do you tell the difference?

*this may seem sarcastic but I promise it's a genuine question coming from a place of sincere bafflement*

Theists, why does God allow suffering..

..specifically, the suffering of animals.

you can talk about free will/sin/people choosing to not listen to god etc to explain human suffering being allowed.. but how can you love a god that allows animals, that haven't sinned or chosen to not have anything to do with god, to have their short lives ended in often long, drawn out, painful ways.

i could list stories i've read that would probably make you feel ill, but i'm not looking to shock anyone or start an emotional debate.
