  my neighbor told me she had been talking about me recently.

  "i was saying to carrie in the office i just don't see how anyone can deny the existence of a higher power.

  she needed some q-tips, and found a box of them on the free table by the office.

  So a solution presents itself to a person's moderate inconvenience in their mostly privileged life and it just has to be a higher power watching over them, making everything better and alleviating their annoyance. Amputees just aren't praying hard enough and have all the QTips they need anyway. Sounds perfectly reasonable.

  I probably would have made a joke out of this and said something like 'it must be terribly creepy to have an invisible something watching over you and moving stuff around all the time - imagine what they're thinking when you're in the shower and you can't find the soap!'. The whole notion is hilarious anyway...

  Any religious leader expressing an 'opinion' on something like clothing has to know that this 'opinion' will be treated as law by the group and in some cases, will be used as a bludgeoning tool. If he doesn't realize this, the screw is looser than I thought.

  My family has known I'm an apostate

  i found out that my husband has not only gone to the elders, but has been going to members of my family about me over a period of a few years.

  this piece of news is just so depressing.

  i've been wondering how my family knew i didn't go and thats why so many of them have becoming more and more distant.

  you know, rarely in the history of the org has a group this large congregated to hear from "mother.

  " they incessantly speak of the huge group that met at yankee stadium in 1958...the over 250,000 that congregated to be instructed by jehovah.

  but over the weekend, there were over 1,000,000 people excited to hear some type of direction, some type of encouragement, something to help them hang on "just a little longer.".

It pisses me off that your husband decided to put the borg ahead of you, but I figured that's how it would be and that's from personal experience...I was your husband back when I was mind controlled. :(

  The WT has always been obsessed with what people wear. This is because it's a religion that is only interested and concerned in outward appearance. Same applies for the whole ministerial servant thing and all of the rules around submitting a monthly report, facial hair, tattoos, piercings, hair color, suit vs sport jacket, skirt length, hair length, chaperones, makeup, cleavage, jewellery, hair gel, colored shirts (and now socks), yadda yadda yadda. Appearances are everything.
