Your family is in true blue panic mode, oh the humiliation to have a relative Df'd the shame of it all. They are also in full cult mode and are not being their real selves. You say your brother was a more laid back person when younger well that person is the real deal being squashed by a cult. From his responses it shows he hasn't really been paying attention to the doctrinal changes happening over the last few months nor is he aware of how important the society feels the 607 date is. After all you've just been Df'd for not believing it.
At the moment argument is useless no JW is listening to you so now is time to make use of your therapist and believe me they are essential right now. concentrate on your immediate family, your wife and child and your own well being and build from there. Armageddon isn't coming any time soon there is time.

With Heavy Heart
by PSacramento insometimes we find a place and it feels like home, it is accepting and understanding.. then, sometimes, that place becomes cold and inhospitible.. when i first joined here i felt i have found a good place.. people like narkissos, leolaia and others impressed me with their knowledge of scripture and motivated me to learn more for myself.. others touched me with the stories of their pan and hurt, pain and hurt that i was feeling also.. i don't think i ever offended anyone with my views on christianity and if i have i sincerly apologise for that was not my intent.. but things change and sometimes home isn't home anymore.... this site had been invalable to me for my understanding what is wrong with the jw's relgion and the wt, it has strengthened my faith and belief.. here i found people of religon, faith and love.. here i found agnostics and athiest that challenged my views and made me question, they made me a believe via reason and not "blind faith".. for that, i thank all of you, especially the "jeff's" ( ak and alltime), i also say a special thanks to leavingthewt, many of his posts made me feel welcomed and made me think and be a better person.. chalam, bts, dd and so many others, i thank you from my heart for your kind words over these many months.. people like mary and sylvia and so many others filled my heart with love with their stories.. all the best to you my dear brothers and sisters.. .

If you feel you need a break from the board then it is probably a good time to have a bit of you time. You will be missed it is always valuable to get different perspectives on issues and yours is one that is often well thought out and thought provoking.
Sometimes people get caught up in the moment and forget that they are dealing with people with feelings that can be hurt. Because we a dealing with typed entries it is sometimes hard to see the humanity behind them and typed words can be harsher than what we would say in person. It is also difficult to see our thoughts picked appart by others. Hard as it sometimes is, at least they have been engaged enough to read the post and think about it.

i noticed the lady was crying and asked if everything was ok. she said that they just got back from the vet, and that they had to put the cat to sleep.

On cat stories has anyone heard this one it may be an urban myth, in fact it probably is but it is still good.
A brother leaving the service hit a cat with his car. He looked in the mirror and saw the cat lying on the sidewalk, knowing that he had hit it really hard and it must be suffering he mounted the kerb and drove over it again to put it out of it's misery. Shaken he then drove off and went home. Half an hour later the police knocked on his door and asked him if he had been involved in an incident earlier in the day. He told them about the cat and how sorry he was but he was so upset he just had to come home.
The policemen told him they had been contacted by an old lady who had seen the incident. She had seen one of her cats hit by the car whilst her other cat was sleeping in the sun on the sidewalk. To her horror she had then seen the same car reverse down the road and run over her other cat. She took note of the registration and rang the police straight away. When they examined the car together the first cat was wedged under the wheel arch.

Don't feel too bad we all did things that we are now ashamed of. At least you can cringe over it now, there was a time you would have raised your hand at a meeting and recited this as an example of your persistance in the ministry.

I would Appreciate your comments
by lancelink inback in september of 08 my mom died, and both of my parents had been jw's since 1978.. in the mid 80's they moved down south to retire.
and she was the type of person who remembered everyones anniversary, if someone got .
sick, or died she would send a card, flowers, to the family or call.. even years after they moved away !.

It is truly sad that there was so little response when someone so caring died. Unfortunately the organisation is very insular they only think in terms of active members and how they are affected. They probably gave little thought to how you were affected except that without the hope of a resurrection it might be harder for you. Only when out do you appreciate how controlled you were. Although it was a long while ago accept my condolances for your mum she sounds like a great person.

I agree that you need to be robust in research and not take things on face value. Although CofC paid a big part in my decision to plan an exit stratgey from the org it was not the sole source. There is ample evidence from secular sources, newspaper reports and other respected scholarly works to build a solid body of evidence against the society. It is necessary since as a fader I need to be able to speak about doctrine using non controversial sources.
What I do find sad is the high level of cognitive dissonance visible every time you talk to a witness. Being recently on the other side of the fence I fully understand it but sometimes logical argument however well researched is impossible.
