  It seems to me that JWs are racing to the bottom with simplified this and dumbed down that. Is it that so many JWs are so poorly educated that they find reading the existing Bible too difficult so they have to produce an easy reader version. Or is it that they need an excuse to add paradise earth, Governing Body and heavenly hope into the text to make the flock believe that they were there all along?

  I never found the old Bible that hard. Educate the flock rather than cater to the lowest common denominator. Religion should after all should be an elevating process.

  And Grey as the best colour choice, I ask you. with the whole rainbow to pick from they choose the one colour that sums up their religion perfectly.

  What Did You Do With All Your Watchtower Publications?

  i needed room when i moved so i sadly threw my entire library away.

  i mentioned this to an exjw.

  he and his wife took all the hundreds of books, including bound volumes from the 1800s and are now using them for research and proof of watchtower lies.. what did you do with your books?.

  When I no longer needed bound volumes to prop up the bed they were all skipped. They had no value as reference works and I didn't want my children coming across them It was like keeping rat poison on the shelf they had to go.

  Eve made our periods painful

  i was just remembering this teaching--that a mythical woman ate a piece of fruit 1000s of years ago after a snake told her to, and that's the reason we have menstrual pain.. you see, the bible says eve was cursed for her sin with painful childbirth.

  hence we can make up extrapolate that this includes menstruation, which is just part of childbearing.

  then we can make up extrapolate that this applies to all females in the entire human race today, because according to a loving god we should all share in her sin as we all have vaginas too.. i remember crying in total agony while i was insulted comforted by having this scripture and explanation read aloud to me, and thinking how much this knowledge drew me closer to jehovah made me realize what a misogynistic wackadoodle cult this was.. thor causing thunder is more plausible than this.. if dubs take midol, does that mean they are scoring jehovah's lesson?.

  seeing as the Bible blames Adam primarily since through one MAN sin entered into the world it seems a little unfair that women get period pain. I do not know if men suffer in silence but it seems unfair that they have no specific consequences. After all death through sin applies to both sexes.

  yuck..sitting in front of me, today, i saw an elder picking his nose while his wife was commenting on the wt study.

  then with the same hand, he grabbed the microphone and passed it back to the microphone carrier.

  he didn't even have a kleenex.

  Whats the "current light" on standing vs sitting during the national anthem?

  this is something that seems to be conterversial in dubbieland.

  i have always seen jws stand when at sporting events, but i have heard conversations in which the dubs said they would either linger in the hallways until it was over, or else sit down during it.

  most of the time when there is such discrepancy between jws it means the light has been flicked on and off so often it leaves them dazed and confused.

  never fully got the rule when I was in I doubt most active witnesses have problems figuring out the protocol.

  here is my introduction letter.

  my jw and biological sister is getting married this weekend and 3 weeks ago i received a letter actually uninviting me to this showy display.

  i was stunned to say the least.

  She probably sees this as a pragmatic choice but it is an appalling one. She is in a high control group and her choices and decisions are framed by the world she occupies. In witness world sex is limited and functional and lacks passion. In her world wealth is rare and witnesses become very focused and obsessed by money. Remember this is not your sister you are dealing with but a manipulative organisation that shapes her thinking. Outside you can see how poorly this reflects on her and how perverse this is because your thinking is fresh and unclouded.

  Weddings are normally a happy occasion, the start of a union and a cause for rejoicing, this marriage is a recipe for disaster and misery. If the husband is gay then the intimacy between husband and wife will either be forced or non existent. This will not be a happy day. If your sister fully understands the terms of this marriage then I feel sorry for her that she feels this is an acceptable choice. If she does not share your knowledge about her future husband then she is destined to be unhappy.

  Unfortunately she is an adult and free to make her own choices even wrong ones. Ideally she doesn't need support on her wedding day but a reality check. We both know that will not happen. You family is so close to the situation they are limiting their perspective and choices by their understanding of the situation. JWs are very good at leading people by the nose and putting pressure to bear to make sure appearances are maintained. Your future brother in law probably made an issue of your attendance because he doesn't want anything to distract from his picture perfect JW wedding. I suspect that your sister did agonise but has to be submisive to the man who will be her head. This is the consequence of her bad choice. I think your sister will regret much of this and need your support again.

  It is hard for you and painful because in all this your feelings have not been considered and you have been treated as a problem and not a person. Just remember that you are not a problem but have the potential to be a solution when she needs you.

  I made a huge mistake

  its been a tough 6 months for my jw hubby and myself.

  next saturday is our anniversary.

  i wasn't sure we would make it with the turbulance of the last 6 months.

  The error was to buy something religious as his gift to you. However he should be more grateful for the effort you put in to your anniversary and the fact that you were happy to buy your own gift not putting any pressure on him. If he expressed no appreciation and had done nothing for you then he has no right to complain about ANYTHING. Next anniversary go out for a slap up meal with a girlfriend and leave him at home, or book yourself into a spa for the weekend and let him fend for himself. He is unappreciative and petty his mistake was not to treat you with the respect, love and kindness you deserve.

  JWs are notoriously tight especially if the are allowed to get away with it.

  Missionaries to vacate all missionary homes

  latest news from a source (missionary in foreign land):.

  no more missionary homes anywhere in the world.. all missionaries presently in missionary homes must vacate.

  must get housing on your own / from the locals.. circuit and district overseers have moved into many of these former missionary homes.. reasons: liability, cost savings, real estate to be sold or used for other purposes.. needless to say, many of these longtime servants are very unsettled.
