  Doesn't the WTS say that blood can't carry oxygen for the first 24 hours after a transfusion?

  some jws have told me that blood transfusions cannot save lives in the case of catastrophic bleeding (for example, resulting from an auto accident) because blood cannot carry oxygen for 24 hours after it has been transfused.

  is this in print in wt publications?

  it must be, because i've heard it on multiple occasions from different jws.. i find it very hard to believe that such a statement is true.

  At the end of it all the witness debate is that the Bible says abstain from blood so whether it is an effective oxygen carrier is irrelevant and witnesses should not try to back up their "spiritual stand" with a pseudo scientific one. Telling people that blood is no good is to try to get approval for a fanatical stand. They should be honest with their flock.

  They also quote on one of the videos that several thousand people die each year due to errors relating to blood transfusions I can't remember the exact figure but it was jaw dropping. I am not sure how accurate it is. I remember telling a study that this figure was so much greater than all the witnesses who died refusing a transfusion and yet the medics criticise witnesses for not undergoing a dangerous procedure. It was probably total rubbish too.

  Is there any way to fight for my bipolar daughter?

  i am new to this forum and was hoping to have some place to vent.

  i am absulutely hurt and beside myself as i write this.. i raised my kids to follow the witness teachings.

  one of my daughters has a very severe bipolar disorder and is currently in a mental institution after trying to kill herself.

  2 JW's in the parking lot...

  they met me as i was getting out of my car at my apts.. after stating a few of my newfound beliefs in possibilities, the one lady kept quoting the bible to me after i said that i had no respect for it and didn't believe in it.. i told them both that i thought it was simply a book with interesting stories rewritten over and over again from mythology.. i mentioned epona taking elish(j)a to heaven in a flaming chariot.. i told them that the jesus story has been rewritten many times before the supposed event even happened (egyptian god horus).. every time she brought up something new, i countered it with why i thought it was not believable.. the best one was when i got to tell them of my relatives who passed away at an old age and did die.

  i told them that truth doesn't change.. that truth should never have been taught as a fact to be counted on.

  when it did change, i said that you have to take a step back and say come on!

  Jws are hard to argue with since if you argue on doctrine they will always assume they are right and you are wrong. They are accustomed to holding different views from others and will see it as interpretation rather than incorrect information. If you want to get a shot under the radar pick facts, the good news there are so many to choose from.

  There are a few strategies I don't know where you are located so can't be too specific. I would take legal advice explaining what led to your daughter's breakdown in the first place and the positive affect you seemed to have on her during your visit. Explain that the families efforts to control her visits from you could be counter productive to her health. Also explain that under dfing you are allowed contact in an emergency and this certainly qualifies. Also enquire whether the clause on the loan is legally binding.

  As she is a mental paitient there also may be some sort of patient advocate who speaks on behalf of the person who may be able to discern your daughters wishes and restore your right to visit. They may also dtermine that she is under too much pressure from witness relatives who visit.

  If the hospital allows gifts you could arrange for flowers or card to be delivered to your daughter in person with a message from you that you would love to visit again if she wishes you to do so. Some message services will wait for a reply and pass on the return message. Perhaps you could get a non df'd person to visit on your behalf with a message just so your daughter knows that you are there for her. If she agrees to the visit make sure the nursing staff are aware of this. Perhaps time your visit for a meeting time.

  This is a truly tragic case and there may be nothing you can do straight away. Just be prepared to be there. Your SonIL was probably shocked and distressed by his wife's actions and is struggling to come to terms with it. He may also be bearing some measure of guilt as it was partly his actions that got them into this situation. He is lashing out looking for someone to blame and you are an easy person to dump on.

  Others on the board may be able to offer practical support if they have similar experience, there is alot of people out there who have worked through difficult issues and know what they are talking about.

  i thought i'd heard it all after spending a life time in this organization.

  but for me the following statement uttered at the weekend circuit assembly takes the prize.. during the "pioneer talk"......the speaker said that pioneering enhanced jesus's spirituality.. to imagine that a made up thing like pioneering would enhance the spirituality of the christ.

  to those who still believe in christ ....this is so presumptious and proposterous........i just fell off my seat.. it tells me how this organization and its governing body have set themselves up so high .....that they could tell the christ how to live..

  My almost 80 year old elderly JW father is getting remarried.....

  a wedding is in the works for my dad!

  he's been very lonely since my mother's death.

  the bride's in her 80's, and a lonely jw who lost her husband a few years back.

  Perhaps he remembers that the resurrected will be like the angels and will not be married so their relationship will have fundamentally changed according to JW doctrine.

  ok ... to me it's not totally related to jw life actually, i'm here because i'm used now to chat with people (you know like you go into a cafe and share wathever you want with whoever as this board is very rich and full for immediat interaction), support them, get some support ... i just like that ... also of course it's very interesting at the same time to follow some news and get information that i might spit back to my familly in time to wake them up .... what about you ?

  We Saw a Demonic, Spiritistic Film Today

  disney's "the princess and the frog".

  i wonder how many dubs will see this?

  it has voodoo, magic and spirits from the other side - it was better than going to the meeting .

  It is a great kids film and I would highly recommend it. I wonder how many JWs will walk out though as this is not fairy tale magic but in your face voodoo with demonic spirits and all that. I was a little unsettled at first but then pulled myself together, it is hard to shake off the indoctrination sometimes.

  Kids loved it, said it was the best Sunday meeting they had been to in a long time.
