last year i went back to the hall while even though i was disfellowsipped 9 years ago and never intend to get reinstated.
i went back to talk to all my friends and relatives and blantantly ignore the disfellowshipping policy.
i chose to go to my jw parents hall where they are in "good standing" and regularly attend meetings as they ingnore their son.
How do you feel now you've done it? Do you feel the need to do it again or was once enough? Once has impact more than once and the sheeple will fall in line with policy.
Dfing is bullying I agree, it is cruel and brutal. If someone wants to return they will do so, if someone chooses not to then treating them as if they don't exist isn't going to help change their mind. It makes JWs appear heartless and fanatical and what is worse unchristian.
this couple in our hall an elder and his wife gave us a anniversary gift.
it is a wall hanging that says "as for me and my household sister life is to short and hubby will worship jehovah forever.".
i felt i should send her a thank you card even though i hate the gift.
This is typical behaviour. As a parent I want to know if my children are in danger. I don't care if someone has the title Brother, if they are a sexual predator I want to know. By minimising the risk the elders are being unjust to both the offender and the children. The offender is allowed to mix freely with children and go to people's homes on the ministry with a veneer of respectability. If he is incurable then temptation is being placed before him constantly, all he will lack is opportunity.
If parents knew and he wasn't permitted on Field service, then children would be told to keep their distance, in addition he wouldn't be able to prowl around the neighbourhood identifying where all the children live.
Their thinking is screwed up, this is a disaster waiting to happen, if it itsn't happening already.
I thought the video was insightful. I think we are often likely to forget the context in which Darwin formed his theory and that at the time God was still present in his life. It is over time that the followers of each viewpoint insist on the exclusion of the other.

parenting: the sad misuse of self-esteem self-esteem is the most misunderstood and misused developmental factor of the past thirty years.
This is a valid issue within some schools and families. Children are taught to believe that they can be anything they wish rather than teaching them to identify their strengths. You sometimes see teenagers on talent shows whose parents have told them how wonderful they are, finally facing someone who pulls no punches and tears them appart. Had the parents been honest in the beginning they could have prevented a lot of pain later.
Children do need to be taught a sense of responsibility. When my daughter failed to hand her homework in the first time (she had completed it in time but forgotten to submit it) I told her it was unacceptable. I said I appreciated that people forget but she had been given reminders and should have remembered. The second time I got a letter from school saying she had failed again, I made her write a letter of apology to her teacher accepting late submissions caused extra work. She has not forgotten again.
Children respond well to positive criticism you don't have to crush them to teach them to try a bit harder. Children are often aware of false praise too and know if you are insincere. They need to have self confidence and good self esteem but not dellusion.
is there some watchtower quotes, that they admit that they dont know for sure if jesus was on a cross or a stake?.

I can't believe why I never questioned why there were so many differences between the churches and JWs. It seems that in every way they have to be different just for the sake of it. If no one knows whether Jesus died on a cross or stake why make a point of it?
They WTBTS loves it's wacky experts. I'm thinking of writing a book about how the Bible is a true record of history and how to prove the worldwide flood and the stake. I will of course provide no scientific evidence just lovely quotes. I want to see how long it is before I'm quoted as a scientfic expert in a book or awake magazine.

When an elders wife calls to find out how you are doing and her husband listens into the call.
All of a sudden the line starts to go all echoy and I can hear what I am saying a split second after I said it . The spooky thing is he calls the following day to talk to hubby and mentions something I said on the call.
i just wanted to let you know of something that has liberated me recently.
i decorated my office with hearts for valentine's day this year.
my family has known for over ten years that i do not want to practice the jw faith, although i am not df'd or da'd.

My husband did in his own way. The problem he had was keeping from bombarding me with everything he had learnt on the board. If there is one piece of advice I would give is that when you are taling to someone keep it short and keep it simple. If somone feels they are being bombarded with false ideas and given no opportunity to argue their case they might turn and run in the opposite direction. Luckily I am stubborn by nature and can switch off when I have had enough. We had some lively debates and hubby now knows when enough is enough, it's lucky he did or he would be DF'd by now.
now i know they try to control everything and pretty much ban anything.
but sex seems to be somthing they can't stand and would like to get rid of completly if they could.
so many articles and so much conusel about not having sex or having anything to do with sex from any angle at all.
Sex is in direct conflict with the societies aims and teachings. They state that it is better to remain single and devote your life to God. Even if you are married it is better not to have children in this system of things. Remember none of Noah's sons had children when they went into the ark. The time is short blah, blah, blah.
The only other function of sex is pleasure and something with that sole objective is always positioned as bad by the WTBTS. After all pursuit of pleasure may lead to experimenting in things that they would consider unclean.
This means there really is no place or purpose for sex within the organisation. To help followers they try to make it as unpleasant and guilt ridden as possible so that the act is better avoided.
Perhaps the writing committee don't get enough themselves and want to stop everyone else having any fun.
