according to Cantleave I'm cooking curry. Makes a change from today when I was doing laundry. I'll miss dressing the kids up in their best but quite frankly they won't care. Kids are more interested in planning my daughter's party and rehearsing for the school easter play. It is amazing how quickly they shake off the old habits without regret. As adults we find it harder to let go.

Confess and you won't be DF'd!!! Puke alert!!!!
by Gill inwell, in nearly forty years of being a dub, i've read some bs but some of it really takes the biscuit.. take for example the watchtower of november 15th 2006!.
always accept jehovah's dicipline.
para 3 .

Right just a minute I think I need to confess all to my local body of elders, oh wait I'll be df'd as a raging apostate. Whatever they print it is a load of manure. Evidence suggests that this is disingenuous at best and deceitful.

I'm new and wanted to introduce myself
by MarkedFragile inhello everyone.. i'm new to this forum.
i left the organization several months ago, and am on a new path now.
though i didn't grow up in the organization, i have basically lived a life of pretending to be something i'm not, sheltering my feelings from everyone, and not feeling "enough" to anyone.

Brand New: Currently Totally Devastated
by daringhart13 ini'm brand new to the board.

By moving away from the organisation you have taken a stand for what is right. It is an organisation that let you down and made these rules. So don't feel you have to define how God may feel based on these men and their attitudes. You can see how they don't speak for him so why would his opinion be the same as theirs?
If you have courage, compassion and empathy these are fine qualities how can god hate anyone who displays these? Welcome to the board.

JW sister told my newly widowed mom that it would "look bad"if
by aquagirl inif i took her to the memorial this year.im df'd for years, but out of love and respect for my parents i always gave them this one night.my mum dosent drive.i was going to drive her and sit by her.i promised my dad that i would always do this for him.he was pretty cool, even tho he was an elder.my "devout" sister {who has never lifted a finger to help my parents}told her yesterday that it "wouldnt look good" for me to show up w/my mum, altho everyone knows that i have done everything for my parents, both before my dad died in december and since.
is my sister just jealous that i have a fabulous life,am beautiful, rich,a guitar god, have excellent cool hair, xray vision, can communicate with aliens and have supernatural abilities?
or is she just mean?lol..btw,i am going.and im taking my mum and we are going to sit in the front row,and yes,im gonna wear velvet.....

This is an arrangement between you and your parents and no one else. If your mother says she would prefer to go with someone else then that is her decision to make. I always felt memorial night was a family time and I am sure your mum does too. Your sister is jealous that you have the freedom of being out of the organisation and you still have a relationship with your mum.

Ladies- did you treat the assemblies like a fashion show?
by JimmyPage inwas the major draw for you being able to wear a new dress?
or to put your kids in cute little outfits?
surely it wasn't the mind-numbing talks..

When I was younger the assemblies were a great opportunity to dress up. Practicality wasn't the main concern it was all about having an excuse to wear fancy clothes. However I usually spent the assembly afternoons washing out bacon grills and always looked the worse for wear come the end of the day. But I started with high hopes thinking that perhaps I wouldn't be the one dotted with brown fat and smelling like a transport cafe. Managed to attract a brother who liked bacon baps. So let that be a lesson to all young sisters out there.

10 good reasons why celebrating birthdays should be allowed
by bluecanary ini cannot take credit for any of the gems below but i did want to polish and organize them.
much of the information was borrowed from this thread.
if you can come up with any more, please post them.. the bible does not ban birthdays.

We've just had our first family birthday and it was fabulous. I've brought a smile to my daughters face and it was great. In the cult we forget that sometimes it is nice to let someone know they are special to us.

I always felt it was a bit dodgey espeacially with the numerous references to gambelling, luck and chance. What would be the main objection would be the 7 day a week aspect and the meetings you would miss whilst being a contestant.
Love of money etc blah, blah, blah.
