Missionaries to vacate all missionary homes
by seenitall inlatest news from a source (missionary in foreign land):.
no more missionary homes anywhere in the world.. all missionaries presently in missionary homes must vacate.
must get housing on your own / from the locals.. circuit and district overseers have moved into many of these former missionary homes.. reasons: liability, cost savings, real estate to be sold or used for other purposes.. needless to say, many of these longtime servants are very unsettled.

New Watchtower video on "real friends"
by cedars inhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5schopnecog.
it's difficult to imagine how this video could be more disingenuous and hypocritical.
cedars.

The irony is that the video contains a lot of good information but none of it applies to the watchtower society. The society is full of toxic friends who will tear you down, who will judge you for what you believe and who abandon you when times get tough because they have too much to do and if you aren't contributing to the work then you are dead weight.
They say these things to create the impression that the congregations are full of people who will be like family. If they say it enough people will believe it. I would love to see a response video.

I need some assistance!
by Kool Jo ini just found out that a co-worker of mine is a ex-jw....she's being pressured to go back to the khall...she says everytime she goes to visit her family, they're telling her how jehovah still loves her...blah blah blah...thankfully she has her own apartment!.
i do see how her upbringing in the cult has affected her...she's soft and overly kind, but she's a real sweetheart...the down side: people take advantage of her.. should i tell her that i too am a jw and understands what she's going through with her family or should i just tell her that "spirituality is a personal thing and don't feel guilted into doing something you don't want" ect....the thing is, she talks alot and if i tell her that i'm suppose to be a jw, then the entire workplace will know.... what should i do?
my only aim is to have her not feel guilted in going back...she said her family has been trying to get her back in, but she's resisting it...the other issue, her son stays with her jw sister (she didn't disclose why)...and my co-worker tells me that her son is becoming a "jw convert".. please i need some advice!.

If your JW identity is secret then do not share it since you are then entrusting another person to keep your secret.
I agree with Black Sheep that she needs to do the thinking. If she left due to conflict with doctrine she is more likely to stay out than if she left because she felt she hadn't kept to the rules expected of a JW. Ask her if she has done any research on the religion. As it is a religion that demands huge sacrifices of it's members and especially it's young ones then it needs to be worthy of making those demands.
You can recomend books she may find helpful that you have come across.

Next weeks Watchtower Study
by XBEHERE infrom paragraph 10. in keeping with jesus pattern of feeding many through the hands of a few.
...once or twice is a proven pattern that's relatable 2000 years later?
are they being serious.

Once or twice is a pattern are you serious? Do they take away the dictionaries when they start writing for the Watchtower Society.
The Dictionary definition is : Consistent and recurring characteristic or trait that helps in the identification of a phenomenon or problem.
One occurance is not consistent rather it is an abberation or break from the normal pattern of behaviour.

It makes sense to put all the relevent material together rather than get the congregation to bring 4 or 5 books to the meeting. It also means they can rewrite material so it is in line with new doctrine rather than risk people bringing old books to the meeting with old light.
It also means that the faithful are less inclined to go off on a tangent and do their own research.
The expression workbook also gives the impression of something compulsory that must be completed the underlying message is "we have made it easier for you to find the material you need, there is no excuse for not completing the asigned tasks."
They could have called it a guide or study aid but they have called it a work book. That says everything you need to know about this religion.

sunday dinner with mom was a hoot...too bad she is sooooo brainwashed.....
by Lied2NoMore ini went to meeting sunday with the family to sit thru drivel of public talk and wt.
i actually held a wt and followed along!
like most here was able to pick out all the lies, deceptions and utter rediculousness of wt trying to say..."we didn't have it right before and we admitt it, but boy, we sure got it right now, even though we never have had anything right before".....you know....so fast forward to dinner with my sadly very mentally ill mother, who for lack of any intellect in the past was a very emotionally, mentally and physically abusive to me and my siblings, and a mental specimen of exactly what wt wants out of its adherents, leans to me and says, "the wt lately has been admitting how they have had things wrong in the past, it really is refreshing to see the changes which tell us how close we are.

It is almost impossible to reason with someone who is indoctrinated. They never listen and they can't process the logical argument that contradicts with their world view. My mum is a prime example, you think you are getting somewhere and then she says "Jehovah will sort it out in his own time."
The society has programmed their drones so well it is sad to watch.

RED LIGHT WARNING IN DECEMBER WT FOR UK
by The Searcher inattention all uk congregations: .
the december 15th 2013 study edition contains a study article which will be used to 'prime' the sheep for fleecing in 2014 - in order to finance the new uk branch complex.. for those who are prepared to speak up on behalf of their hard pressed brothers and sisters, raise your hand and ask one relevant question before the elders' probable resolution/s - either to send a chunk of your congregation's bank balance to mill hill, or for each publisher to 'pledge' as much as they can;.
"can the body of elders explain to the congregation why the new branch isn't being self- financed by the miions gained from the sale of all the london properties?
-

The Watchtower Society sits on millions but has a callous disregard for the millions of people it keeps impoversihed. It could self fund the buildiing but they would prefer to take more money from the congregations.
They have to keep Mill Hill running and printing whilst they build they will then transfer the equipment across and then sell the London buildings. The build will need to be funded first. The society could take out a short term loan but why should they when there are people willing to throw money at them no questions asked. As they are only paying for materials not labour the new facilities will be built for a fraction of the cost of any commercial build.
The sickening thing is that they are not asking to borrow from the congregations they are taking from them and when the London properties are sold they will not be giving anything back they will be rubbing their hands and making pure profit.

A View From Outside
by Joe Grundy ini never was a jw, and in many ways my interest was academic.
i have known, and know, some jws and ex-iws and know something of (but not personally) the effects that wtbts has on people.
the effects, imho, are not positive.

If a religion demands certain sacrifices from it's followers even to the point that they die for the cause then it has to be worthy of that sacrifice. If it is unwilling to be challenged and tested then it has no right to demand alliegence or respect.

This is like the Salem Witch trials where a small number of people revel in their authority and use it to abuse others. They move from one victim to another and like a dog with a bone they will not give up until they get what they want.
The fact that the JC was unsuccessful does not mean that they won't keep harassing others in an attempt to get what they want.
You either have to accept that this is not a level playing field and fight the inevitable causing you stress and anguish or walk away show them how irrelevent they are to you and your life. These men live in a small world where they are able to bully other people and puff themselves up because the organisation enables them to do so. They have an inflated view of their own importance and are out of control like petty bullies in school. The biggest power you have is to demonstrate that their opinion is of no interest to you, that they have no power over you. If they try to talk to you or invite you to a JC say no I have better things to do. If they threaten then advise them that this is now a legal matter and they should under no circumstances contact you or continue to harrass you or they may be financially liable for distress caused.
I still remember the stunned silence when the elder called me to tell me the outcome of my JC (which I didn't attend) He said I need to speak to you. My response was "No you don't" and I put the phone down. It was great taking back the power and control.
