I've heard speculation that Revelation was written by a guy under the influence of 'shrooms' which are plentiful on Patmos.
I find that as viable as any other explanation.
is the book of revelation a prediction of things yet to come or is it a critique of issues in the author's own time?.

Nice username burnedout. I would say 90% of JWs are describe your username exactly. The other 10% are just too new.
Thats why the WT has to keep beating them to "do more" as well as constantly remind them how "happy they are"
before i left for good i was the po and went to km school for po's in 2009 at patterson.
on the very first day class the instructor told us the word gb is biblicial.
he told us to turn to (heb 13:17) nwt reference bible which said "be obedient to those who are taking the lead among you* and be submissive" using the asterisk next to you he referred to the footnote at the bottom of the page.
As previously stated:
guess what guys?
they are starting to fear apostasy!
it was mentioned a couple of times.. one of the "bird-catcher traps" teaching in previous years, added 3 new "traps used by satan"..
Org=Jehovah to most JWs, so it really doesn't matter what they say "apostates" are speaking against.
We understand the difference but a mind controlled JW equates the two.
we all know jws must live by many rules.
mostly they are called "principles" because the wts doesn't want to appear to be like the scribes and pharisees that christ condemned.
so they renamed them as something other than "rules".
Here is one for those wanting to move up the WT ladder.. "being visible." Don't know if this is as widespread as other unwritten rules, but here is the lowdown on what I saw.
When I was in my first MS meeting with the CO, I heard this for the first time. I was confused for a good 5 minutes. The CO and PO at the time bantered back and forth for a good while talking about how they should see you (and your wife and family) in service, and at the meeting for service as well. Not good enough to get 10 hours a month if you weren't seen at the meetings for service or out in the territory, you had to be at the hall or meeting place several times a month.
@cantleave- yes! All of us godless heathens are going to go ape $hit on the earth once the Christians leave
@Questioning-Congrats to your son! That is worth sticking around for!
@Lunatic- I hear you! I have too much living to catch up on after more than 3 decades a JW.
@Unshackled
OBVES?
Lars?
Stop the Tears?
If so, how are you spending your last day on earth?
this year alone, three wifes in my congo left their husband and da with jws (all of them have kids).
similar cases are seen in nearby congos.
its striking that far more women leave their man and the jws then man do.. i would like to know, whether this observation can be made in your area too.
All three DA'd at the same time they left the husbands? Sounds like a non approved study group got together and figured out that the WT was just a mysogynistic religion.
The reason more women are leaving the religion (and possibly their hubbies) is they are sick of being treated like second class citizens. Its got to be sickening if you are smarter in certain areas than your husband to be told he gets to make the decision because of his genetalia.
pdfs can be obtained at jw.org.... spiritual gem #1. perhaps witnesses should apply the standard the wt recommends for gathering information on the internet to wt publications; from page 4:.
(1) who published this.
material?
I could be wrong, but when I first read this I thought, "that sounds familiar." I no longer have the WT resources I once had so I can't look it up but I believe they issued a similar statement decades ago, in answer to a question about a small increase in partakers in a then-recent year. Any scholars out there who could look this up?
Check the video on WT comments here:
http://watchtowercomments.com/index.html
At about 3:30 in the video they reference a past WT where they cited "mental strain" as a reason for some partaking.
i don't want to get trapped in a building when i am called to the lord.
these are details you gotta think about.. my rapture checklist.
