What does your baptism mean to you now?

i was baptised on 1st sept 1990, 25years ago today.

it is still a date with deep meaning for me.

i never dedicated my life to serving any man or any organisation, this was my choice - as a grown adult - to serve my god through jesus christ.

I'm have a lot of things to be happy about and grateful for but I'd really just like to drop the facade of believing in WT doctrines. Playing the game with everyone including my wife gets harder each day. To really have any meaningful relationships your authentic self must be known. That is what the org takes away from you the day you're baptized.

WE NEED MORE MONEY! (Letter sent to Mexico re: JW Broadcasting of May 2015).

i don't know if they're making similar arrangements in other parts of the world but below you will find the letter (and the translation attempt) they're sending to all the congregations in mexico and central america asking them to modify their september 21 and september 28 service meeting programs.. after watching jackson's gold apple watch and lett's pinky ring one can only assume they are a bunch of brazen, shameless and greedy bastards!.

the letter has already been uploaded at the spanish forum and you can find it if you click here or see the attached picture.. the translation "attempt" is as follows:.

august 1, 2015. to all congregations.

Yeah, I find it strange that they would single out Mexico that could really backfire on them. In fact I found disgusting that the first JW Broadcast that many saw in their own language was a money grab. I can imagine a Brother in a poor country just scraping by all excited for the first broadcast in his language and then Lett comes on with his "we're not like the other churches who ask for money. However..."

At that time it was just a matter of doing the right thing. In my mind a "good" person would get baptized and live a clean life. I wonder where I got that idea? I wanted to be like my older brother and sister who also got baptized at a young age. I actually didn't make a dedication to God in prayer until the day of the baptism when I realized I was supposed to do that. I probably had some doubts even then but trusted that my mom wouldn't want me to do something unless it was for my own good. When you live a sheltered life it is very hard to think of life outside your little bubble and that there are other ways of doing things.

I now realize that I was just a kid and had no concept of a life long dedication I assumed that I would be happy as a JW. Sometimes I wonder why I wasn't like some of the other kids who never got baptized. Or why I can't be like others in the hall who seem to believe everything and actually find happiness from the org. No, I have to see things as they really are for some reason.

What has the Watchtower reading material done to YOU?

the reason i ask is because i realise i couldn't go on reading watchtower material.

i have discovered it did something to my mind no other literature has done to me before.

it had turned me in to a person without a heart, or soul, and made me in humane and distant from other humans who didn't share the w.t world view.. i now feel ashamed of my childish behaviour, and i have learnt :-.

I have been reading more than ever but now it's from a different viewpoint. So I can reaffirm that everything is biased and "the answers" are full of holes. It's also interesting to see how dumbed down the newer mags are and some the illustrations are just ridiculous.

this will result in the attack on the true religion [ jehovah's witnesses ] lead by pope francis and intern will bring armageddon / paradise.

I'll get the popcorn ready. It really is strange that JWs have built up the UN in their minds when in reality they are a extremely ineffective peace keeping organization with very little power.

Emptiness of Watchtower

since i left the organization, i have learned so many new and deep things.

i know some in the watchtower are intelligent, however it has been my experience, that most i've dealt with are.

.. well quite inept.

The new public edition of the WT and AW are pure fluff. Filled with anecdotes, pics and bullet points. No real substance or in depth reasoning (even by WT standards).

Wife Equates Having A Good Marriage With Being "Spiritual"

so i've noticed lately that my wife seems to think that in order to have a good marriage both people must be "spiritual".

she thinks being close as a family is all about family worship night, field service and praying together.

i know where these ideas are coming from but it is very hard to combat them.

Thanks for all the advice guys I must say that she isn't on my case about what I should or shouldn't do. I just know that the mindset is there. Recently we have seen some couples break up and she'll say things like "we have to stay close to Jehovah". What does that have to do with anything?

you know the organization is slowly going down.

not as fast as we would wish, but nevertheless it is crumbling.

five (5) year old child baptisms, smaller magazines, child sexual abuse exposed, smaller annual growth, no one wants to reach out, young ones leaving.

I'll make a few predictions:

1914 will stay but they may drop the mathematical proof and just go with "the sign of the times"
Blood doctrine left as a conscience matter but strongly discouraged
Regional Conventions will get smaller and be held in JW owned properties
More appeals to emotions, practical advice from the Bible less emphasis on prophecy
144,000 revealed to be a figurative number

I don't really feel like I can talk to her openly about how I feel about the org. Sometimes she will complain about the Elders or say that she doesn't see any point in going to meetings. However, when she says those things she is looking for me to set her straight and tell her what she needs to do. If I agreed with her then I'd be letting her down. According to her thinking I'm supposed to be the "more spiritual one" as the head of the household.
