Of course you would have a reaction because you're still emotionally attached to the religion. However, that doesn't mean that Jehovah is involved at all. It could just be that Russia doesn't want the bad press that would come from banning the JWs. Maybe the Judge knows they will be banned and has decided to be nice and let them celebrate one last memorial. None of this proves God's hand is in the matter one way or the other.

I'm 90% PIMO but events in Russia made me stop and think maybe Jehovah is real and helping
by Isambard Crater ini'm at the stage where i'd love a big scandal to come along showing clearly that the j.w's are not the true religion, but sometimes i get touched inside by various thoughts or events, the russian court trial being one of them.. i mean, j.w's are understandably fixated with attending the memorial, so why didn't the court say it will resume on monday or tuesday, instead setting wednesday 12 april as the date?
part of me believes the comments from pro-j.w's that jehovah moved events so they could attend the memorial.. it seems the j.w's will not be banned, which makes my mind and heart wrestle between thinking jah's behind it, or maybe the ministry of justice is just woefully prepared compared to the superb australian royal commission team who did their homework.
it surprises me the russians seemingly haven't done any homework..

Why more highly educated people are less into conspiracy theories
by Mickey mouse ini've seen discussions here about how jehovah's witnesses seem to be prone to believing conspiracy theories... https://digest.bps.org.uk/2017/04/05/why-more-highly-educated-people-are-less-into-conspiracy-theories/.
this last paragraph seems particularly relevant:.
importantly, van prooijen said his findings help make sense of why education can contribute to “a less paranoid society” even when conspiracy theories are not explicitly challenged.

Maybe educated people are too busy enjoying their careers and making good money to care about such trivialities?

DPA Cards: Word Has Come Down To Badger People
by JW_Rogue ini know this must be coming down from the top because the elders in my hall who didn't really care before are all concerned about it.
must be on the list of things to do before the co comes back around.
in past years i never really thought about the dpa.

President Trump launches missile strike against Syria
by jwleaks inpesident trump authorized the missile strike because “it is in the vital, national security interest of the united states to prevent and deter the use of deadly chemical weapons.” .
59 tomahawk missiles were launched from two us navy ships.. russia has condemned the action.. https://youtu.be/4svp3yfneyq.

This would have been far more effective if done with the joint cooperation of other nations, sending the message that the whole world will respond to atrocities.
Th reality is the European countries like for the US to bear the burden of carrying these attacks. The most they would have done was slap some NATO stickers on our missiles.

I know this must be coming down from the top because the Elders in my hall who didn't really care before are all concerned about it. Must be on the list of things to do before the CO comes back around. In past years I never really thought about the DPA. I was younger and didn't really think there was much chance I would need blood and not be conscious to make my wishes known. Now I'm getting older though and although the chance is still small I'd rather not be putting it in the hands of the Elders. Even it being in the hands of my family would scare me a bit. For now I've been "forgetting" to fill it out and have it signed but was wondering how other people handled this.

1,000 Paid Russian Trolls Spread Fake News On Hillary Clinton, Senate Intelligence Heads Told
by Village Idiot injust when you thought you've heard it all, out comes some new information on the russian hijacking of our election.
former fbi agent clint watts testified about the full extent of russian interference.
it goes back further than we thought; more extensive and broader in its reach (marco rubio was in their sights); and with greater planning.. even russians who were in charge of this fake news operation have mysteriously died.. watts told the committee to “follow the dead bodies” to learn more, referring to several russians connected to kremlin fake news who have died in the past few months.. what else can we expect from such a murderous thug who expresses such gratitude to his own men?

The real question we should all be asking, is what was Putin's goal? What is he trying to achieve? Some say disrupting western Democracy. Nato? This is bigger than just our election.
Probably he wants an American president that will ease the sanctions placed against him so he can continue to extend his influence around the globe. Trump may do that if he sees a financial benefit for the USA.

Yes, clickbait fake news articles on social media and some WikiLeaks emails showing that political parties operate exactly as we all imagined they did was all it took to take down Hillary. Sad.

Great way to show the world your not extremists.
by pleaseresearch ini really don't know what to expect of this.
they are being labelled extremists in russia and are close to being banned.
so the show that they aren't extremists they encourage all jw's worldwide to bombard the kremlin and court with millions on letters..
-
JW_Rogue
LOL, I get what your saying but writing letters hardly qualifies as extreme. Many groups already would have started such campaigns a long time ago. The fact that they all waited until HQ gave the signal just shows that they are under thought control.

Born in baptisms to avoid embarrassment
by Spoletta ini noticed a recent commenter mention an assembly that had only one baptism, a born in.
the last assembly i went to had three baptisms, of which two were born ins.
could part of the motivation for youth baptism be to avoid the embarrassment of an assembly with no baptisms at all?
-
JW_Rogue
No, I don't think that would be the case as congregations don't normally know who is getting baptized from other congs until the day of the assembly. There is always pressure from family to get baptized though especially if they are reaching the teenage years. There is also pressure if older siblings got baptized at a certain age or if they are nearing eighteen years of age.

While it's true that the power in the organization lies with the men, women seem more emotionally attached to the religion and it's promises than men. Plus, you have to move pretty far up to achieve any real power in the org even a COBE is an unpaid underling to the CO. Many young men would rather just have some level of freedom than put up with it all just to hope to get a title.
