yesterday i was reflecting on how being raised jw has effected my body image.
i remembered an assembly talk from a couple of years ago.
the speaker was doing your normal talk about modesty in dress.
No low cut shirts, no slits in skirts, no tight jeans. Yeah, it makes sense that this is why I have body issues. Unfortunately I was the other end of the spectrum, I was/am a chunky medium height brunette.
My shirts are now lower than they have even been. if you got it, flaunt it!
just wondering whether any ex-jws are also fellow hash house harriers?
the "drinking club with a running problem"?.
it's nothing to do with hash as in hashish, btw.. it's a running club.
I know they are here in my area, but I have not been a runner due to a weight problem, but I am working on that so maybe I will check them out.
today is my first birthday since i left the jw's.
also, the 19th will mark the one year anniversary of when i left.

We had our older dog put down abot a year ago. This was a really hard one, she had been brought up with my two teenagers. All of my best to you.
would you have gone to college?.
would you have gone to jail?.
would you have been wealthy?.
I would have better social skills when it comes to dating and the opposite sex. I would have gone to college on scholarships, because yes, my grades were that good. I would have found somebody who did actually love me instead of hooking up with a guy because the world was ending soon. Since I would have gone to college, I would make more money and life wouldn't be this hard.
i have deceided that this year i would like (if you will indulge me) lots of different traditions from lots of different countries and cultures.... so what have you got??.
i also want to hear what makes your christmas super special... what do you do to make up for all those lost years.. babysprout really believes in santa... all the kids in her class have been telling her he isn't real.
i mean what is this, a class full of dubbies??
Every year, except last year because we were snowed in (Our first White Christmas!), we go to a movie. The latest and greatest family friendly movie up to this point, but they are now 18 and 15, so...
I remember going to Toy Story when my oldest was almost 3 and I was pregnant with the second one. If we con't decide on one, we might see two.
if you are being shunned, do you ever feel out of obligation that you should be the bigger person and check in on parents or siblings who are still jw's and have nothing to do with you?
i have reached out to my sibling and get zero back.
it hurts, and i am angry about it, yet from time to time i still feel a tenderness in my heart and let it be known that the love and care and concern is there.
I was checking on my mom after my father died back in January. She is 70. Many times I offered my 18 year old son to play chauffer for her. He wasn't brought up a JW. She refused and basically blamed me after the last articles about making sure to have nothing to do with DF'd, DA. So fine, I don't call her any more. I figure the next time I have contact with my sister will be when she calls me to let me know my mom has passed.
I was starting to fade and realized I couldn't be a hypocrite like I had seen so many others. So I quit, DA'd myself. I was 25 and raised in. 21 years later, my mother still hasn't accepted the fact.
i'm wondering if all women are like this.
my wife is always saying she doesn't have any shoes to go with this or that.
right now we're getting ready to go on vacation.
I'm a single mom with two teenage boys. They don't understand it, but they know that I must have shoes and more shoes. It has become flip flops and more flip flops because we live in Florida and I don't have to have the dress shoes for work or JW reasons. (I wear the same steel toe boots everyday to work). I have done my part for their future wives.
I am currently planning a trip to an island and I have a friend who says I only need one or two pairs of my flip flops, I looked at her like she was insane. I have to have the black ones for this outfit, the glitter ones for that one and I could go on and on.
so we are out treat or treating and i notice a dog very distressed howling and shaking with fear... so i try and approach her but she starts growling at me.
carrot rings the doorbell of the house that she is hiding on and the people have never seen her before... quite a few neighbours come out and we eventually win her round... she is terrified and very disorientated.... we scoure the streets looking for her owners but to no avail... all we can gather from her behaviour is that she was most likely thrown from a car... she has not long finished whelping a litter and is clearly distressed... we end up bringing her back for the night and has not left carrot alone... she has been lying on him, licking and kissing him.
all she has wanted is to be curled up on his lap.... obviously he is her saviour!
So would she classify as a Trick or a Treat?
