I decided not to go back to the KH
by Bucholz inwell, as i mentioned before in one of my few other posts, i've been lurking here for some time now and finally decided it was time to face the facts and take action.. i was raised a jw (4th generation) and my parents were quite zealous when they got married.
mom was a regular pioneer and dad was a ms. i was the little jw 'rockstar' in my congregation, got baptized at 10, was giving talks and serving as an attendant at the hall and at conventions at such an early age.
auxiliary pioneered whenever i could.

i have finally decided to "give up " on jw family !
by looloo inmy inlaws have now not visited my child of 7 for more than 2 years since we moved a half hour drive away as i didnt want to live in the same town as my other childs abuser (an ex min servant ) after he was released from prison !
they only visited once and i made it clear that they were welcome anytime as they left , since then they havnt bothered but have told people that i dont allow them to see my child , which is not true .
my mother in law tried to give some money to my child recently through her disfellowshipped son but he asked "why ?

Thanks looloo..
I was brought up a JW, never got baptized though. I saw a lot of hyprocrisy esp with my JW Elder father. He is such a snake in the grass. In recent years my mom past away and I seriously thought about becoming a witness. But it would have been for the wrong reasons. I just wanted a family. Thats all. My dad choses when to associate with me, usually to his benefit. I can't take it any longer. I have plenty people around me that I consider family and I'm convinced that this is enough. I just can't take anymore heartache. It's way too much to go into here, just trying to move forward.

looloo... I am so very sorry for your pain. It's ironic that today I vcame here to get some encouragement because I too have given up. The anger that I have is eating me alive and my physical health is being affected. I wish for you some relief from the anger. It's truly not worth it. You will be ok because we know better now.

Why would local congregations keep your name on file in TMS if you haven't attended in yrs?
by stormy222 ini am a new member to this forum, but i have visited for years.
i am curious to know why my name would remain as an active member, even though i haven't attended services for the past (i guess) 4 years or longer.
i am still in contact with a few members off and on, but i am really focusing on pursuing interest that i've put off for a long time (attending college).

I'm curious too because this past weekend I was told by an active family member that my name was read off as bad association back in the late 80's. I don't recall this nor do my friends that are now fading or have left. How do I find out? The reason being is that it sure would clear up a lot of stuff in relation to some family problems.

Was the GB scared by pew research on religion? (statistics)
by JonathanH inlooking at pew research data on jws (link below if you want to check it out, it's interesting to compare stats.
), you have to wonder if the gb has seen them and what they think about them.
it would seem to me examining the statistics that there are far more witnesses on the inside that don't really believe it is the "truth" than many on the inside would assume.

@WontLeave, I beg your pardon .I agree with Wasblind. Your words, although meant to prove a point, are very offensive.Maybe you should re-read and make it a little less offensive. Thanks.

"I guess their ghettocombing is paying off. A glance at the race statistics indicates their main inroads are being made in the ghettos and barrios; with the same people who traditionally have the least education and lowest quality of life."

Most Overblown Examples Used at Assemblies
by What Now? inat a recent assembly, there was a talk highlighting the dangers of higher education.
the brother used an example of a young girl who went to university, began going to bars, and ended up getting drugged and gang raped - as if this happens to every young jw who chooses to get higher education.. .
what ridiculous examples have you heard used at meetings or assemblies?.

At a recent CA I heard the example of a young man who while in HS was offered a full scholarship to college. He turned it down so he could pioneer. He stated that many times he would think back and wish he'd gone to college and had a more lucrative career like his peers, but he was confident that something better was waiting for him....while at 30yrs old he was still living with mama. SMH

Everything is "Satan" ... Now what?
by roxanesophia infirstly, i'm a study who initially believed every word of the jw's.
figured "no other religion takes the time and effort to help people understand the bible by publishing the watchtower and the other literature" not realizing that all it does is pick and choose scriptures to suit whatever sentence they'd just written, which can be done using any book, not just the bible.
i felt foolish, after that.. .

Simply say: I have decided to end my study. Thanks

@itscrap&theyknowit: He does feel that way, IMHO. He doesnt know what I will say to anyone else, particularly my sister. Her and I are about ten yrs apart and were not close until after my moms death. He even told me one day that he didn't want me talking to her because he didn't know what we were talking about. Funny thing is, she has told me things that I thought she didn't know. Sometimes I wonder if it really is all worth it.
