a new novel written by an ex-jw received a mainly positive review in today's minneapolis newspaper.

there has been great publicity for the book with links here....boston globe, sf chronicle, etc.
since the reviewer insulted janet fitch in this review, it won't make it on the press page on the website. that's just lazy reporting and her dislike of the sexuallity in the book should've been conveyed with more thoughtfulness as to why she felt it didn't belong.

Glad you're digging the book. The feedback from ex-jws and those who have never been affiliated is quite interesting. It took four years from writing to book deal to publishing, so the hard work feels like a validation for the crap we had to grow up with.

the facts are in for me:.

is it another 'grieving period' like the one when i left jws, and the one when i finally rejected silly christian fairyland?.
IDKWTF.
the human condition is what it is. imho, to subscribe to science that is forever changing is to subscribe to jws who are ever changing.
accept the human condition. what do we know? we are f*&ked and going to die. that's it.
is there something beyond this? are we evolved or an alien experiment or are paranormal activities true?
if there turns out to be a god up there, i wanna throw a bar stool at him/her.
but why preach either way and pretend it's fact?
we're from a culture, as jws, who came from 'the truth'. get beyond trying to find the truth......and if at the end we're just dead and gone, let's do some crazy SH*t while we're alive.

oh, p.s., i just checked one of the review sites, i think it was the boston globe. everytime i get publicity, jws and ex-jws tend to go nuts on issues i don't even bring up in the novel......but, there's that whole BS that, oh, in the worse case scenario, if the jws aren't the truth, then at least we lived good, christian lives. the dude who studied with me said the exact same thing. i love the doubt, yet, don't question and btw, let's just hope the human race dies while we get their houses after armageddon.
i guess my point is.....so what, live life to the fullest, preach less, excel more.

after a year of having been out and 7 months on jwn, i like to think that i'm pretty well deprogrammed.. one thing i still have trouble with though is the mental attitude of thinking that the end is coming soon.
difficult to explain this, but its like a mental awareness that is always there no matter what.. and of course the end is not coming, i just don't know how to get my brain to realise this?!?

therapy. years of it. if you grow up in the mess, it can stick with your internal belief system for a while.
then it gets better....things do get better.

i gotta go sacrifice a goat to the devil, you know, because i live in san francisco....and ignorant christians don't understand that so-called devil worship actually means believing in christianity. after the sacrifice, gonna head to an abortion clinic and assault an intake supervisor. of course, that's a lot in one day, so we'll get some stress relief from consensual sodomy in our expensive closet sized apartments.
but seriously, the literary scene in san francisco is absolutely amazing right now....lots of great stuff happening here. prejudice southerners need not apply.
