It's been awhile since I've stepped foot into a KH, so I haven't laid my hands on one of these songbooks yet. But reading some of the changes is so telling about their true motivation and agenda. I felt like some who have posted, sickened, mainly for the family and friends I still have "inside".

And speaking about disturbing and creepy, have you ever been to a JW camping trip where everyone is sitting around the fire singing Kingdom Songs??? The last one I was on, and this happened, I literally got chills. It was so overwhelmingly cultish.

The token black guy still cracks me up when I see one of these. Can a club get anymore exclusive? No Mexicans, no Asians, no islanders, no women. I bet he has nightmares of Adam Sandler standing over him, yelling, "They're all gonna laugh at you!"

had our co visit last month.

normally the guy has all the charisma and charm of ben stein from "ferris buhler's day off", but he managed to give a talk that was actually coherent one night.. here is the rough outline:.

the theme was about the difference between "justice", "mercy", and "undeserved kindness".. situation 1: adam and eve sinned.

I think it's just another feeble attempt to prop up a baseless year and stretch it a little longer while they figure out how to re-tie it all together after the debacle of 1995 and subsequent changes to the "generation".

being a bit slow, i just finished reading the january 22 "awake!

", and back-translating from "polish" into poor english, on page 9 is the article "a reasonable view on the peace of your private life" or something like that (as said, back-translated ....).

ok, on page 12, second paragraph left column under the sub-heading "a reasonable view", first couple of lines, it is stated: "the creator has the right to know all our private affairs, but people have not.

Crinkle's right. A few well-timed scriptures and accompanying questions directed at them will stun them into baffled silence. You have to remember, elders generally only understand the Bible as it has been explained to them by the WT. When you turn the tables and use that book on them, they become embarrassed and whimper away with an empty expression pasted on their foreheads that screams, "What the heck just happened? Did I just get spanked?"

It's a pretty cool thing to witness in first person.

CantLeave, excellent story. The part about your kid talking about the Halloween candy at the Hall had me rolling. But I didn't catch your current status. You resigned from the BOE, but are you still going for appearances?

New here-question about calls from the elders

i have been looking around here for a while but this is my first post.

my wife and i have been fading not so smoothly.

i pretty much know this is not the truth but am still undecided how i feel on various issues and i am still sorting them out.

If you aren't sure where you stand regarding your future in the religion, your first mistake was confiding in anyone who is an active JW, let alone two of them. JWs are horrible at keeping secrets, afraid God will kill them for it.

So to diffuse the situation, tell your uncle that you really don't have doubts per se (that you were misunderstood by your family members), you just have questions and are ernestly seeking answers to them through WT-approved pubs. He'll "encourage" you to go back to meetings (if you've stopped) whereby you can either go and keep quiet while you get things straight in your head, or pull the Conscience card on them and tell them you know where the KH is and you'll be there when you can.

All that may work for awhile. Eventually, you'll either have to step up your fading or tell them all to back off.

i keep reading everyones stories and thinking how brave you have all been, coming out of the organisation and facing all the repercussions of doing so.. .

str8, it was a fascinating read. Full disclosure: I'm not gay, not even a little bit. But even as a JW I never saw the value in tormenting those who are. During my three decades of slavery service, I spotted several gay brothers in hiding. You could just tell they were miserably fighting their natural urges. And I heard the jokes and slants against them from the R&F. I knew they were gay. But even though I don't understand the attraction, I never passed judgment.

Now, out of the cult, I'm glad I never harbored animosity against them. In fact, while inside I was a vocal proponent of lesbians (teasing that I myself was one in a man's body), usually getting a few strange looks but it was honestly how I felt.

I think that whatever a person does, it is he that has to live it. No one else. Have a happy life, dude. Glad you're out!

Pioneer Removal

They threatened to remove me back in the day, but never went through with it. The requirement was 90hrs, I generally could only get 70-75. That was a huge no-no. I ended up leaving the area before they had to "take action."

What does it mean to be spiritual but not religious?

Spiritual means that you let the Good Book speak for itself, without the need for a human interpreter (religion) to lead you astray. That way, if you get it wrong, you have only yourself to blame. Spiritual also means that you feel a personal connection with a Higher Power that you endeavor to please throughout your life, rather than worrying about the rules of an institution that claims to speak for that Higher Power.

If you believe the Bible, when you someday meet the Big Guy in the Sky on Judgment Day, there won't be anyone there to hold your hand. So why let them (religion) hold your hand on the way there?
