The Bible is a two edged sword wield it for evil and there may be hell to pay.
hi, i just have a quick question.
on another board a girl stepped forward and said that her story will be airing on dateline.
she said that you had uncovered her story of her husband abusing someone and it being hid by the wt.. now, i can't go into all the details because it would make this post very long but i just have a feeling this is a jehovah's witness trying to make this look like a farce because her story changes like you wouldn't believe.
Could you please provide a link to the board?

last night's bookstudy again focused on the date of 1919 and how it was proof that god's favor was directed towards the bible students.
this week the wts compared themselves to the jews when they were released from babylon.
basically they talked about how the jews were discplined by jehovah when babylon destroyed jerusalem and took them hostage.
Can somebody please tell me why after all this time do you still take You Know seriously?

i have just been thinking about the "wait on jehovah doctrine" for a while because of the silentlambs fiasco and a thread started by you know.. i think that the jws have a certain amount of lead way when it comes to this teaching, i.e this wait on jehovah doctrine is not all bad because the bible teaches that you to trust in god and to have faith, which is totally understandable.. the bible further teaches that 'faith can move a mountain' but i dont think that this verse should be necessarily taken too literally because i dont know of anyone who has moved a mountain simply by faith alone.
but thats just me mabe some of you have move literal mountains simply by faith.. i think that scripture mostlikely refers to the problems in life that you have little controll of like can put food on the table, dont have a place to sleep and you just cant see a way out of your troubles so you put them in the hands of god and have faith that the lord will bring you through to see a brighter day.
[thanx mulan].
When you were a witness diden0t anything in your mind click and say that something is wrong here?
The more I find out about the JW teachings I really find it hard to put myself in your shoes.
There is somuch that just dosent make sense.

But when it comes to the JWs application of this doctrine of:
"Have faith, Wait on Jehovah" it seems as though the JWs are really stretching their particular literal intrepatation of shuch verses too far especially when peoples well being and even lives at stake.
Firstly, When it comes to the state of world affairs the JWs are quick to say hat we "Are no part of this world" therefore we cant do anything to help you so we'll leave it to the lord God who will soon anialhate the wicked (everybody not a JW) and then peace everlasting shall reign on earth forever.(Only for JWs) You Know got me thinking about this whit all his talk about Armageddon.
The second aspect was doctrinal issues that need to be corrected such as that which allows pedophiles to be protected. This has harmed way too many innocent children in two ways. 1) They are exposed to known pedophiles in the first place. 2) They when they try to get help they are called liars and shown litle sympthy. It is a really brutal thing to be rejected in your time of need the psychological damage inflicted is beyond measure but all to often it happens in the JW cult.
Jws who happen to be aware of this probally rationalize it by stating that good things come to those who wait. So sooner or later Jehovah will fix everything.
But what will happen in the meantime?- WHile children continue to be abused.
What will happen to the children that are being hurt RIGHT NOW?
Who will help and protect them RIGHT NOW?
How will DO something?
Anybody that tries to rectify their position within that Organisation can easily justify their position by saying:
"The Lord helps those that help themselves!"
Therefore why is allowed to continue simply to maintain an Organisational image.
If the particular literal interpretation that the JWs use is correct then, everyone would have to stand there and watch any injustice that occurs with in Gods Organisation(tm) no matter how big or small once too many people dont know about it and the image of the congregation is maintained.
How can this continue happen?
Would love to hear any oppinions that you the posters of JW.com have on this matter.

something i would really appreciate feedback for.... if any of you have ever made and impact on a jw what was it?
what was the one sentance, or one seed of doubt that made their brains start ticking?
were you sucessful?
In between days
Yes i have been through something very similar in fact i go through it all the time. You see i'm kinda involved with an active JW so I pretty much know how they operate. I dont know all the reasons why they do what they do but I do know that all of them think EXACTLY the same way when it comes to the Watchtower and therefore I know what to expect from them. Its scary coming across os many people that act exactly the same way but I have gotten use to it.
You asked why they wont call UN and verify, I have absolutely no idea.
They wont read anything you give them at first if its blatantly apostate but even if its just a new paper article they still have trouble accepting it.
My best guest is pride.
"We have the truth and we would be wasting our time verifying anything that you show us because it will come to nothing."
I may be wrong though but my other best guesses would be 1) Simply not intrested, 2) Dont have the time, 3) Dont think that its important, 4) FEAR.
Ask some of the posters on this board who have actually been there to aask that question because I dont actually know what goes on inside a JWs mind so I cant be shure.
But you will realize that when it comes to getting information to a Witness through a peacefull discussion that all the roads are blocked so I found it best just to ASK them to listen to you. I dont really see anyother way to get info to them but to ask them to have the discussion and as soon as they decide to end it, let them because its their decion in the end.
Wish you luck. But rember to be careful.

Your family dosent want to know about anything putting the Watchtower in a bad light as far as I can see. But dont let that stop you from trying.
I think that you should lay low for a while until they forget about it (the discusions).
Basically I have realized thaat the Waatchtower has done something to witnesses that just makes them plain unreasonable. I dont know what to call it but its there in all JWs that I have come across.
All the roads in conversation with a JW are blocked. You have to ask (sorry I meant beg) them to listen to you because there is no other way to make progress (that I have come across) directly.
The response that you got dosent surprise me because I think that everyone here on this board has incountered it before.
Just think about what would happen if they were willing to listen?
I'll bet that it went this way.
1) They said:
" That is a lie! I dont want to hear it."
Somehow you manage to convince them to listen. All along they seem to have the impression that nothing will come of it.
2) Then after you get their attention for a while they say:
"Ok, but I KNOW that they had a good reason."
But at this point all you energy was wasted trying to get them to listen because they wont even let you finish a sentence.
3) They recieve verification. Then they look for the tiniest itsy bitsy bit of error in the document just so that you can discredit the whole thing.
At this stage they smile uncontrollbly and their aggorance pisses you off because you know that there response could be described as stupid to say the least.
I call this the JW look of pride.
It is really sickening. Rasies your blood pressure.
At this point your thinking to yourself 'how could anybody be so difficult to talk to?' Why cant they just be reasonable?
You are really fustrated by just thinking about it. But you press on.
4) You refute their response.
This is when they show their true cultic colors and get real dam pissed to f*** off at you. You ask them why are they getting so upset "I just want a peacefull discussion"but they wont hear any of it.
This is when they refuse to listen to what ever you have to say untill they cool off.
And if you dont do something their attitude will remain the same for a very long time.
Every time you bring up the issue they will either continue on where they left off and get really pissed off at you again for bringing it up or they will leave. Either way there will be no meaningfull discussion for a long period.
[The above sequence of events can last anywhere from 2-6 discussion over several days or however long]
Do what ever works best i'll be back with more advise.
I would like you opinion on the sequence of events in comparison to what actually happened in your situation.

Rember this.
There is no majic word that will make a JW do anything which may be considered by thinking persons to be rational.
If it were that easy there wouldent be a WBTS.
But anyways one of the biggest is the United nations Scandal.
If any JW takes the time to look it up it will definetly cause them some discomfort.
