Oh I noticed too. They just want to control, and keep you contained living in a sheltered box, doing their bidding. Holiday's lead to association, which leads to learning it's all a big lie. Which leads to leaving. Hence why they are shunned.

Why does the organization respect some cultures and not others specifically American?
by meangirl inokay, i am trying to wrap my head around this and it just does not make any sense.
i could not think of one "american" tradition/culture that is "allowed" by the society.
heck even football is frowned on.

Following GB equals following Christ (Visual Aid)
by Rank&FileGuy in.
just a visual aid to help everyone understand what message they're conveying in the watchtower study this coming sunday.
it's funny but just by using their first names instead of "governing body" really brings home the ridiculousness of it.. -rfg.

Watchtower is voice of Jehovah
by lostsheep82 ini don't know how to copy and paste properly on here but i stopped research almost a year ago.
started reading a few things in magazines again cause my mom is harping on me about the new jan 2011 watchtower stating that jw's are only true religion.
then i found this quote in sept 15, 2010 wt page 13 para 8.

I've heard this said before. and it was one of the first (many first things) I called into questions. They repeatedly say the watchtower isn't inspired. So if it isn't INSPIRED OF GOD, how can it be the voice of God? Isn't that the same thing? Silly stupid people!

went well, I'm completly out now. I guised my exodus as moving out of state for work. So far so good. I have family in, and they still think I attend. Thankfully Blonde (bless you, yup I said it!) posts the watchtower comments. which is REALLY appreciate to make chit chat about the meetings. Also another sister I knew feels the need to spam my inbox with watchtower propaganda, oddly enough. That also helps.
I was a born inner.. and can't believe I hung in as long as I did. It got to the point where I just WANTED to beleive. But couldn't, cause I saw it was all BS. Then I was rather depressed cause I felt good didn't want me. since all we hear is that Jehovah's draws people. Well I wasn't being drawn obviously..so that much mean he didn't want me! After trying, adn studying, I still thought it was all crap. And honestly the only ones with veils over their eyes are the ones in the organazation! Cause they can't see the man behind the curtain, they only see the Wonderful Wizard of Jehovah..

How to place your magazines without leaving home
by St George of England ini have noticed a growing trend for jw's to advertise current magazines and books on the internet using ebay.
they are advertised at 0.01, as you cannot start at 0.00 and the buyer is told not to pay when they win the item.
if someone else bids on the item then they are told not to put on another bid but to e-mail the seller or wait for another copy of the magazine or whatever.

I know some sisters in my old hall who used to shove them through cracked car windows in parking lots. No joke. She "placed" a 100 magazines a month or more doing this. She would also roll them up like a baton and see someone walking by on the sidewalk when driving and stop and hand it to them...then drive off. LOL
Wow that person "selling" on ebay is going to go broke putting out all the shipping money on that. Oh well.

LOL I know some of the "friends" used to tell me "oh we missed you at the meetings". When in fact THEY were the ones that missed the meetings. Of course this was also the same sister who told me I was pronouncing my name wrong....

What Would Bring The Watchtower Down?
by metatron inrandy/dogpatch has posted some interesting material about troubles in the organization.
this info generated a lot of skepticism about the possibility of watchtower fragmentation.
frankly, it is very easy to be skeptical considering everything that ordinary witnesses are willing to believe or put up with.. i think it would be useful to realistically consider what sort of event(s) would bring the watchtower down or cause its fragmentation?

I think getting rid of the C.O.'s will be a HUGE problem. Lets face it, the main reason congretions get visits is so the Socitey can make sure they are getting their cut of donations. With out these guys going over the books, the greedy congregations elders will be lining their pockets even more...

Every publisher must pay for assembly costs???
by sacolton injust saw this posted on watchtower uncensored .... .
want to hear the latest debacle?
the po in my mom's congregation told them that at the next 1-day-assembly it will be the responsibility of every publisher to put 3 in the box towards the running costs at the assembly hall.

Edited cause I did my math with a 6 family person. Ok so for a 6 person family. that Mom Dad, and 4 brats all publishers. which were pretty common in my home congregation. mostly by elders oddly enough so that's 30 bucks per person large family! 5 bucks per pub with a 100 plus publisher congregations, is 500 atleast per congregation. Atleast 10 congregations meet sometimes more for the assemblies. (I know they totally redid ours to FILL the assembly hall. We were jammed in like sardines, and people had to eat in their car, cause there was no room in the caf for everyone. So 5,000 Maditory.. Not counting everyone tossing in a few extra, and then bragging about it making you feel bad for not doing the same. Also EVERYONE comes out of the woodwork for these so that more money going in. Taking into account 5,000 for one day EVERY weekend.. so times 2 (cause we KNOW the next group is their Sunday) is 10,000 for one WEEKEND. and 72 weeks in a year. so that's like on average 720,000 a year off just assembly days. not counting 3 day district conventions.

What music did you have to throw out when you was still in your teens?
by BlackTwisted ini was always curious lol.. .
well, i remeber i had to, wel lhonestly, i didn't listen to music too much when i was younger, just on the radio, and i had no choice ( i didn't have a computer then and i was about 11 at that time) so we got a computwer when i was about 13 (i am currently 15..wow..i make myself sound old lol.
) and i remeber i was listemning to 3 6 mafia (a huge mistake) and my mom liked the instrumental.beat of the song, but i was playing it soo loud, she even heard the lyrics, and she told me to switch it to another song..so i did..i switched to cascada's everytime we touch..o_o.. .

Back in my day we had cassette tapes. and I would make a mix tape of all the acceptable music...on one side.. and the other side was all my music. I had one of those Cassette player with a "play other side switch" so if she ever asked to listen I would just hit it as she would be greeted but lovely happy witness OK music.
Of course I learned this trick after having her toss my Roxette tape cause she didn't like the song "How do you do?" cause it had a line about undressing.. No joke. Funny thing is, sitting right next to it, was the cassette single of Goddess "Let's get Sexual". How she MISSED THAT I'll never know. But yeah, thankfully I was ALOT smarter than my parents who like most witness parents are techonology backwards. I made copies of everything.

Legitimate question maybe a lesbian could answer for me?
by WuzLovesDubs inup front and first off....some of my bestest friends on the planet are lesbian and i love them to death so this has nothing to do with acceptance or not of it.
im all over same sex marriage and respecting all human beings' rights to live their lives as they see fit.
i was wondering...and i have wondered this for awhile....why some lesbians, who obviously dont like men, then choose to dress in men's clothes, have men's haircuts, wear men's shoes, flatten their chests, wear no makeup and look and act like men.

I know some lesbains who are VERY girlie, and dresses adn all. some who are the "sterotypicial" flannel wearing ones. I know what your saying. But they don't see that as being masculine. anymore than a straight woman wearing a slack suit for her business job feels like a man wearing. It's just a style choice of what they are drawn to. maybe they are wired to think more "man". I honestly have a some straight friends that if I didn't KNOW they weren't gay I would think they are by their dress and decor choices. I see alot of straight women wearing flannel type shirts, I think it is more how they carry themselves that gives the "man" impression than what they are wearing.
