B says: "My mother was part of the Blacholic Church, had good reason to be fond of black. She is similar to her Greenteeholics, fond of green. Therefore black is like green."

I don't buy that as an argument in any school of logic.

The WBTS, in print, often sets up the Catholic Church as a strawman.
It's not as if Jehovah's Witnesses are comparable to Catholics in most ways, philosophically. But many people - even ex-JW's - use the Catholic religion as a debating bogeyman.
alright, i'm curious now cause i've been wanting to know how certain people go their screennames.
now some people have their names involved with makes sense and so forth.
but i guess i'll start out.
I was registering and didn't know what name to pick, so I thought I'd look up and choose the first two things I saw, and combine them into a random new name.
Looked up and literally spotted a quill and saw the sky. That worked. In my head my username is pronounced "quill-ski" though.
I like that the quill is a metaphor for the pen, that which is mightier than the sword.
(But for an accident of eye movement my name here could well have been Televisionwindow or Ceilingdog.)

Dude, everyone visiting the counry on a visa has to periodically report , especially when on an open ended visa or work permit. I had to do the same thing when I was in Russia.
Not true about the USA. Oddly enough I know this first-hand too.
as most of you know........ i am from texas originally.. each year as homecoming rolls around schools across that state become 'frenzied' with various 'school spirit' activities ending with the wearing of mums (garters for boys) to school on friday.. i recently was talking to a 'yankee' boy and he didn't know what i was talking about (mums/garters or homecoming)......(blasphemy!)..
anywho it got me thinking...... is mums/ garters limited to texas/oklahoma?
(surely our southern cousins too have them -- right?).

Please phrase your point as, well, your point. Not in the negative. I have trouble working out what you're ACTUALLY trying to say.
the old testament makes it clear that jewish people were considered (by themselves) to be "god's chosen people".
then that sweet jewish boy jesus came along and said "it's nonsense, we're all the same, welcome goyim.".
so does modern judaism still hold the view that jewish people are preferred by god, with some special destiny?.

I think this thread is getting a bit off track. Yes, my experience with a Pakistani-American family is interesting (extremely interesting to me actually), but should Muslims have to register in the USA? That's the original question.
Should ex-Jehovah's Witnesses have to register on some database? A bizarre question, if you ask me.

If you're not in the US, How do you know "first-hand"?
I can give you the email addresses of men who have lived and worked legally in the US for many years who have to report to authorities periodically after entry from visiting their parents in Pakistan. I don't know them, I know their sister. Any more questions?
