Once in a while privileges are given out to "encourage" the brothers to do more.

this weeks watchtower---Please Comment
by TheLoveDoctor inunity identifies true worship........ comments on these 3 paragraghs.
7 the one source of spiritual instruction first-century christians enjoyed unity because they all received encouragement from the same source.
they recognized that jesus was teaching and directing the congregation through a governing body, composed of the apostles and older men in jerusalem.

This spiritual food is based on God’s Word. Thus, what is taught is not from men but from Jehovah
Hmm... According to that logic we could say:
All Chrisitian Religions are based on God's Word. Thus, what is taught is not from men but from Jehovah...

Throwing a wet blanket on 2034
by pirata inon a few occasions i've heard suggestions of 2034 as the "date", since it is 120 years after 1914; just like noah's time.. it looks to me like the governing body is being pro-active in preventing this in becoming a date that is speculated on.. the dec 15, 2010 wt (printed version) has an interesting qfr, asking if noah had knowledge of the 120 years.
the answer was: noah didn't know about the 120 year time period, but that didn't matter to him because he knew it was coming and kept busy.
i don't currently have the printed copy handy but can post a few quotes from it later on (unless someone else has it handy).. just thought it was interesting.

Do MS get to sit in on the Elder parts that talk about Judicial Hearings?
MS only get one day of the school. The Elder specific stuff is not on that day.

Conscious Class: Do you still go in field service?

Well, I just came to accept the fact that I'm in the hyprocrite class. I still do field service in a non-attention drawing manner (ie. hours not to low to draw any need for "encouragement" and not too succesfull so as not cultivate interest in the field). Based on the experiences here I think I'm going to be in the hypocrite class for quite a while if I want to be able to make inroads with my family before i share my true feelings. The only reason I'd come out earlier is if the mental strain gets too much too bear, or showstopper issues arise (shunning/blood). So far it seems manageable...

On an unrelated note, 2034 is 1001 years after christ's death.

Are the numbers accurate?
by Joshinaz inthey claim they are 7 million and growing.
is this true?
i haven't been to a meeting in 12 years but i know of at least 100 people i grew up with that have left the congregation.

The 15 minutes minimum field service (vs the 1 hour) is not really a big deal. It would have made a one time difference in the year it was introduced, and I don't remember a dramatic spike around then. Unlike most religions, JWs only counts those who actively report, so I'd say the "average publishers" number is quite accurate.
Most of the growth seems to be in the foreign language speaking congregations and countries that haven't yet reached their natural saturation point yet. I have seen good growth among immigrants with very little growth among native english speakers.

How long until the WT Society gives "new light" about the Internet?
by DagothUr inthe watchtower and awake have given some warnings in the past concerning materials available via the internet.
apostate and porn sites, violent games, useless and frivolous entertainment, and so on.
for now, they are contended with just giving friendly warnings.

I don't think "new light" is really an appropriate phrase here since it generally implies a new sriptural understanding.
I think the warnings about the internet/facebook may eventually become less often. TV used to be demonized a lot and now it's hardly mentioned.
