Too much bad language, sex & pics
by Simon inplease can everyone think twice before they make posts containing bad language (even if not directed at individuals), graphic sex talk and nude or semi-nude pictures (especially if explicit).
this is not what the forum is here for.
if you want to post stuff like that then there are lots of places on the internet for it and, more importantly, if people want to see and read stuff like that then they are quite capable of going to these places themselves.. i know everyone likes to 'let their hair down' now and again, me included, and i like pictures of sexy women as much as anyone .

I was going to try to say something wise and meaningful, but Lady Lee did it first and better.
Thanks, Simon!

finally got my thoughts gathered to share......
by scootergirl ini am relatively new to the board and have to say have never had such a heartwarming welcome from so many people!
it feels so comforting to make new friends that "understand" where i have come from.. i have read many many stories, and have sat back in awe....wow, what stories.
mine is quite simple, but none-the-less my story.

Hugs from me, too.
I thought I'd dealt with everything-I've been out for a long time, but when I started to write it down I was suddenly dealing with it all again...
Take your time.

Fainting, seizures, vomiting - help!
by Mimilly inmy oldest daughter, beth, had her second episode yesterday and i'm now officially worried and am looking for someone in the medical community or someone who recognizes these symptoms.. her very first seizure was a febrile seizure, due to a high temp when she was a year old.
i doubt this has anything to do with the present stuff.. a few months ago, she fainted at work and seizured on the stairs, was taken by ambulance to the er.
she came home looking beat up from banging her head on the stairs, with a mild concussion.. yesterday, when she went to get on the bus, she felt it coming on again, and while she was able to somehow ward of the 'seizure', she blacked out before she could pay her fare.

I agree-a neurologist ASAP. My family has a history of intracranial aneurysms. My brother had one that burst at which point the drs. decided it WAS hereditary (my father died of one.)
Anyway, I was scheduled for an MRI pretty promptly, but the dr. told me to watch for dizzyness, vomiting, sudden head pain, or "black outs"
My brother had emergency surgery and is, amazingly, fine. My MRI was negative (my husband says they checked my brain and didn't find anything.) But-nothing to mess with-don't let them put you off.

Second death-what does it REALLY mean?

>>>>Before the earth was created he made some spirit creatures. Oh and then he made man. Man wanted a woman. Now we seem to have an order of things going on here. God > Jesus > other spirits > man > woman > child > animals. Each one must obey God first before all others.<<<<
Actually, the order of creation according to the Bible goes like this:
God (where did HE come from? That's probably a question for another post)
Jesus
Other Spirits
earth
light and dark/Day and Night (though where the light's coming from I'm not clear because we aren't going to get to the sun for a little while yet...)
aptmosphere (the "expanse")
seas/dry land
vegetation
sun/moon (so the sun was created AFTER the earth???? and AFTER the earth was swarming with vegetation???? what about the whole photosynthesis thing???)
water creatures/flying creatures
land creatures
man
woman
Now if you are saying that spiritual superiority is linked to order of creation, then we-male and female alike-are WAAAYYY below pond scum, sea slugs, and earthworms.
>>>>If say a man decides not to obey God; then the woman being the wife and also the child can break free<<<<
I think the Freudian slip here is the "break free" part.
As I recall, the WTBTS said (used to, anyway) that the second death was the death that happened after the Great Tribulation. If any of the resurrected dead or any of the survivors didn't toe the mark, they would suffer the second death which was a two-strikes-and-you're-out-forever oblivion
edited because I couldn't spell "earthworms"

How do you explain it to your spouse?

I've been thinking about this and agree with what everybody has said. His caring is more important than his being able to understand completely.
He doesn't need to be able to understand. No human can completely share the experiences of another. Even though my sister and I grew up together, we often had very different reactions to the same events. It's fascinating to hear another account of something and realize how differently she saw it.
My husband also can't really understand what it is like to be a woman, or to carry a baby or labor for that matter (heck, he often complains about how TIRED he got--pfft!) I will never really know how it feels to be a man. That doesn't mean we can't love each other and experience the "other side" vicariously.
On a lighter note, even the language is different. If I say "district assembly" to you, you get a complete picture-sights, smells, emotions, etc. A never-been-a-Witness would get a blank...
"See, a bunch of congregations make a circuit. A bunch of circuits make a district. A district assembly is when all these congregations get together and listen to guys talk about God for five days. There's a morning session and then a break and an afternoon session and then a break and then an evening session (yeah, I know they're only a couple of days now and no evening session-you young wimps <G>)...
Even with that he just can't get a picture of what it's REALLY like.

You can't, kiddo.
No matter how empathetic, sympathetic or caring he might be, he CAN NOT understand. My experience is that most people who aren't familiar with JWs relate leaving to leaving some other more main-line religion. Of course it's completely different.
Accept his concern and sympathy and love, but don't expect him to really be able to understand. That's what WE'RE here for...

Same story, just different names
by zenpunk ini guess i've lurked around long enough - it's time to join my new family and tell the condensed (thank goodness) version of my experience.. my parents came into the org.
when i was 10. it was a scary congregation in a small town.
the po was my dad's boss and he had complete control over everyone.

Welcome, Xenpunk!
I think this was part of why I "never fit in" as well. I asked too many questions, read the wrong worldly books, thought too much.
The thought of being the submissive wife of a really devout JW terrified me!
I remember once one of the Witnesses came looking for me for something at work. After wandering around the reception and then the secretary pool area for awhile, he finally asked for help and was then escorted to MY secretary's desk. When she buzzed me and told me he was there I took GREAT pleasure in saying I would be with him as soon as I could. Fortunately, I had somebody waiting who had an appointment. He had to sit and wait until I was done with that one. My secretary-and I still owe her for this one-told him I'd "squeeze" him in before I had to leave for a meeting...
Man, sometime Karma can be sooooooo sweet.
