- What determines how you live your life? My own moral code. I believe the common thread "Do unto others as you would have done to you."
- If your personal interpretation on a particular Bible teaching differs to how others in the congregation understand it, what is the correct procedure to resolve the issue? I left after realizing what hypocrits my "brothers" were.
- What kinds of qualities does a faithful Jehovah’s Witness have? Obedience to the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society.
- What kinds of things does a person need to do to become this kind of faithful Jehovah’s Witness? A willingness to not think for themselves.
- What kinds of things would a faithful Jehovah’s Witness NOT do that people in other religions do? Disagree publicly with a doctrine.
- How much time do you consider a faithful Jehovah’s Witness needs to spend in studying the Bible and Bible literature each week to develop the abilities that help them stay faithful? 10 hours
- How and why is Witnessing important in being a faithful Jehovah’s Witness and why do Jehovah’s Witnesses usually go witnessing in pairs? a) They are told that this is the single most important act of displaying loyalty and faithfulness to the organization and they are directed to do so with 1 scriptural reference. b) The scripture reference says to go out in pairs.
- What do you think is the greatest danger to the spiritual life of a Jehovah’s Witness? The truth about the history of the religion.
- How do you use literature to engage the interest and reach the hearts of the people you witness to? I used to try to draw a parallel from the magazine articles to modern life.
- How do you handle opposition in your witnessing work? Smile and move on.
- What is your greatest fear as a Jehovah’s Witness? Getting shunned by friends and family.
- Why do you think Jehovah’s Witnesses are growing so fast? I don't think they are growing all that fast, however the growth is because a lot of people are lonely and they JW fill that gap providing the JW adheres to official doctrine.
- What appeals to you most about being a Jehovah’s Witness? At the time, it was the fellowship.
- What do you think are the reasons for people not choosing to join the Jehovah’s Witnesses’ organisation? They realize its bogus religion for a publishing company or just plain odd.
- The Russian government authorities are trying to ban Jehovah’s Witnesses. Why do you think they are doing this? Not sure.
- The Russian authorities have listed 34 Watchtower publications as ‘extremist’. Which Jehovah’s Witness teachings do you think they are objecting to? Not sure
- Many Jehovah’s Witnesses are currently suffering discrimination and persecution in Russia, China and Arabic speaking countries. What do you think the persecuted Jehovah’s Witnesses should do about this? Not much they can do about this, as they are not the only "Christian" religions enduring this treatment.
- Some people think that science has the potential to solve many of the world’s problems but scientists do not agree on scientific theories or research conclusions. Where do you think we can find scientific truth? From critically peer reviewed documents that are funded by neutral parties.
- Some people think the world is getting better – people are living longer; cures are being discovered for various diseases; we can travel further and faster, and communicate instantly all over the world. How do you respond to people who say there has never been a better time to be alive, despite the problems and challenges? I agree.
- Some people think that humanity should work to make life better for everyone by people learning to share, cooperate and make room for different lifestyles and beliefs. How would a world based on these principles compare with the paradise earth preached by Jehovah’s Witnesses? Sharing, cooperating works out, but no room for differences in beliefs in the JW system.
- What do you think Jesus meant by his statement ‘you will know the truth and the truth will set you free’ (John 8:32)? The truth about JW has set me free, I am no longer under the thumb of the teachings, and its wonderful to be free.
- How would knowing the truth help those whose lives are characterised by poverty, sickness, living in countries where there are wars, corruption, injustice, and oppression? What do you mean by "the truth"? Are you referring to slang JW term "The Truth"? If so, it really doesn't except they enjoy the fairy tale that life under a perfect system can happen. Not much different than any other religion teaching about heaven.
- How has your membership in the Jehovah’s Witness organisation affected your life in this world? If you are a convert, how does your life compare to what it was before you became a Jehovah’s Witness? I was miserable as JW. I hated it, was very self-destructive. Since leaving, my life has gotten considerably better.

The slaughterhouse sounds pleasant. Did you find that any of the holier bethelites particularly enjoyed it?

"Youth book" said 97% of teenagers Masturbate...but none of them are Witnesses! Is this unrealistic?
by Witness 007 in"youth" book and "young people ask" admitts that 97% boys and 92% of girls masturbate but of course none of the holy decent witness teenagers would ever do such a thing and earn jehovahs anger!
how realistic is this?
97% of the world have t.v's or a telephone!

There was a guy in my old hall in kutztown whose father was an elder, brother an ms. This dude (a reg pioneer) would sit in the back of the hall while we were both doing mics, and he would pretend to beat off the mic boom. I was always worried I would get caught chuckling as he did this.
On a side note, I used to love setting off a really smelly silent fart while working mics, and just glaring at some innocent person like it was someone who did it.

by dissed inas one who has been wanting a flat screen tv really badly, i took this story very hard.. what would drive someone to such madness?.

Maybe he wanted to demonstrate the versitility of the Easton baseball bat
See, that's making lemon-aide.
Although, it is adding insult to injury that he used Walmarts baseball bat to destroy Walmarts TVs. Not very classy, and I think he should do more personal study.

If it werent for the excellent topics raised during congregation study and personal study, I never would have learned before the age of 10:
1) what masturbation is, and how to do it for male and female
2) what oral sex is
3) what anal sex is
4) all about immoral practices, such as wife swapping
5) homosexuality
6) rape is fornication and women are just asking for with their scanty clothes, and the man should be pitied for being weak
7) two members of the opposite sex are bound to be screwing like bunnies if left alone for a few minutes (unfortunately, this turned out to be a lie too)
8) that my sinful mind is why the entire congregation is not being blessed with growth

New here
by Stimorol ini've been lurking this board the past few days and reading a lot.. i'm a 30 year old male from an unnamed european country, i was brought up "in the faith" by my jw-parents (my father is an elder and was even the "head elder" (i guess that's not the proper english term, english isn't my mother language) for a while, although i believe he stepped down when i faded away, but was reinstated as an elder later.
i never really had any interest in religion or god, not even as a child, even with my perfect jw upbringing.
it always felt like a chore and i did my jw duties, but just the bare minimum i could get away with, living at home with jw parents (attending the 3 meetings every week, and going to do field work 1 hours on saturdays).. at around age 15-16 i got baptized, i was not directly pressured to do it but some hints were made by parents/elders.

Hello to you. Sounds like you still need to deprogram yourself, if at 30 you were still hiding your life from jw. Your family will get pressure to not talk to you. I don't know how it is in other countries, but in the US, to DA you have to write a letter to the cong or society renouncing your faith and expressing your desire to no longer be jw. I chose to fade quietly, but now they'll have to DF me to get rid of me. I'd rather make it difficult.
Honestly, I wish I knew then what I know now, I would have chosen the elder route until being forcibly removed.

Telecommunications network engineer in GSM, CDMA, AMPS, UMTS, LTE.
Have been: dishwasher (4 hours, hated it), farm hand/maintenance, electronic controllers designer for automated manufacturing, software developer VB, VC++, test engineer for VLSI chips on advantest, schlumberger, IMS, HP, Sentry, and Teradyne digital sets.
I didn't make for a very good dub... always wanted to work hi-tech rather than menial crap jobs. And of course, as a technical writer and editor, my critical thinking skills improved, and naturally this evolved to being xdub.
