Some times I look at life as a beautiful tragedy full of joys.
Other times I think it is a sick joke w/ death as the punchline.
are you an idealistic pessimist?.
or an optimistic realist?.
or maybe a pessimistic realist.
Some times I look at life as a beautiful tragedy full of joys.
Other times I think it is a sick joke w/ death as the punchline.
to whom it may concern, .
i have contributed financially to the cause of silentlambs.org and have, to a smaller extent, even promoted the website.
it is difficult enough to fathom the depth of hurt heaped on humankind, but impossible for me to understand how such suffering can be compounded with injustice, as i read experiences on silentlambs.org.
Welcome, Gamaliel! The way I see it, Bills opinion & Silent lambs are two totally seperate issues, just the same as many of us have differences of opinion on doctrine, life, etc. So I would say that you can continue to support silent lambs w/ a clear conscience, as he has done a good job there thus far.
However, if this is not an option for you (you have the right to your opinion & who you support) I suggest that you look under child abuse in this forum & contact the love & norris atty. firm w/ any info you might know of child molesting in your area, no matter how old. After all, if you were a baptized publisher, you are also by law a minister, & if your state has mandatory reporting laws are obligated to report it, to the police as well.
i remember hearing over and over about how wonderful it was to be gathered together at the assemblies, and how the brotherly love flowed, and everyone got along.. they would comment that where else could you get 10,000 and more people together where there was so much peace and unity.. we were flat out told there was no where that this occured.
that wordly people could never have that many people together, then riots would happen, fights, drunken idiots etc.. well, i have been to many busines seminars, where there are thousands of people, and they never get out of hand.
i have been to many concerts with thousands of people there, and they don't get out of hand.. how egotistical these power witnesses are to think they are the only ones that can get along peacefully.. i know there are cases of fights, or something at large events, but there has been things like that at assemblies too.. has anyone here seen fights, or disturbances at assemblies, or large witness gatherings?
I've seen a couple, one w/ my best friend when he was threatened by his best female friends fiancee. Both jw's. The guy threatening my buddy outweighed him by about 75 lbs., big jock asshole type, & my buddy had just gotten out of the hospital for a rare disease he was getting over, His legs were still 1/2 paralyzed. Jock boy thought this would be a good time to threaten him in the parking lot. One thing led to another & my buddy ended up slamming his head in a car door a few times, so the jerk decided to run & complain to the elders. When they saw the disparity in size & heard about the threats, they just laughed at him. One of the few times they were fair in my opinion.
p.s What about the beatings delivered to kids on a regular, brutal basis, do they count?
some here are viewed as full-fledged "apostates".
others are "weak" and curious.
what about you?
According to the "Aid" book, apostate means one who stands apart. Also,I know that rumor in my old cong. is that I am a rabid appostate. This might have something to do w/ the fact that whenever I saw a JW who gave me "the look", you know, that look down your nose look, I took to saying "What the F*%& are you looking at? So, Yep, I guess according to there definition I am one.
i found the article interesting and something which may trigger discussion.. why do i get the uneasy feeling something reminscent of 9/11 looms on the horizon?.
it is inevitable that al-qaida will again attack the united states.
it is also inevitable that eventually they will be successful in causing death on a massive scale (as this is their intent) much like they did when the world trade center and the pentagon was attacked.
You tell these bozo's that follow the "religion of peace" that the next time theres an attack on the u.s, that mecca & medina become glass parking lots. Then aim most of are nukes that way to prove we are'nt kidding. Then we see what happens
i don't think i will never join another organized religion.
that being said however, i have enjoyed going on occasion to non-denominational churches, watching the band play music, and the speaker.
if you did or would attend another church regularly, which one would you go to and why?
I joined the universal life church, so I could do weddings. I've done tons, generally non-religious. I've even done a couple of x-jw weddings, one of which was pretty ugly as the xjw Bride had faded, not df'd, & half her family was df'd 7 so called apostate, the other half still in. Ironically, the only reason the mother came was that I was non religious, even though she knew I was raised jw. She had refused to even go to a wedding performed by a Justice of the Peace. What the hell?

Poor bastard.

Sabine, strangely the one congregation I did feel accepted in was one in New Orleans that was black. I don't just mean predominantly. Other than us, who were visitors, there were maybe eight other white people, out of a cong. of about 200. It's my fondest jw moment.
As per the jacksons, I've talked too Rebbie, the oldest sister @ a couple of conv. She was really nice, but very guarded.
the pervert elder that went to court for my niece's rapest(he lied to the judge about what a great jw he was and that my niece was just a liar..when he knew that this sicko had a past for raping little girls) was killed in a car accident tuesday morning.
WAY too quick of a way to go. I hope he suffered & maybe there is a hell & he's roasting slowly!
i would appreciate some input from the board that is weighing quite heavy on mind.. as some of you may know, my ex divorced me six years ago, strictly for religious reasons.
after an enormous amount of legal funds, i succeeded in getting an agreement signed that states that when the child reaches an age that the courts consider mature enough, we would both allow him to make his choice of religions.
even if he wanted nothing to do with religion.. it would seem that the time has finally arrived.
Not to be alarmist, but I have heard of it happening. prepare for every contingency.
