Hi Billygoat,
It seems you may be right...I emailed the poster asking her to explain and just got a reply back saying she meant "stunned". So I emailed her back and said she should edit her post to reflect that.

[edited] i appreciate saintsatan's post.
this rebuttal is not intended as any negative response to saintsatan.
i think he did a good thing to post an important point of view, a view that needs consideration to balance out the actioins of political leaders everywhere.
Hi Englishman,
"Oddly, Japan at number 2 is relatively ignored, not much flack for Germany at 3, whilst the UK at 4 gets plenty."
That bolsters, in my opinion anyway, my belief that the attack(s) on the U.S. aren't due to the U.S. being a democratic, capitalist, non-Islamic country. I don't think Islamic fundies really give a rats ass about that, at least not to the extent of committing such horrible acts as they did last Tuesday. I think it has everything to do with the fact that the U.S. lends the most support to the Israelis. The U.K. is right behind the U.S. in that regard. On the other hand, countries like Germany and Japan are almost invisible when it comes to taking sides in the Arab-Israeli issues, hence they don't take as much "flack", as you put it.
That's my take on it.

perhaps i will be attacked for this thread, i am not sure.i am as shocked as can be by the terrorist atrosity perpetrated today.i have watched all afternoon and evening and still can't quite take it in.. i have heard the people involved described as evil cowards in the west.i accept this statement and as i have aleady stated deplore the action but i feel that the media only shows one side of the coin.. the pilots that commited suicide were certainly not cowards.they believed in their cause enough to give their lives for it.these, along with the many that orchestrated this event put a lot of time, money and sacrifice in to this.. this is the part of the story i am unclear about.this is the part which is not being explained - at least not to my feeble understanding.. why do so many of the middle eastern countries hate the west as much as they do.sure iraq has good reason but what about the others.. there are two sides to every story and as much as i hate what has happened i wonder what theirs is.why do they dance on the streets now?
america has bombed countries.in serbia to get rid of milosivich.they must have hated america then but this was out of a lack of information.. i do not believe evil exists - evil acts but not evil as an entity.it is all too easy when asked why atrosity is performed to simply answer - the person was evil.there has got to be more to it than that.
what brought about these murderous acts.was it the kind of mind control that was perpetrated on us as witnesses.after all, the witnesses would take delight in the coming armageddon when billons of people will die.. is this evidence of a similar condition?.
Hi spider,
"Why do so many of the middle eastern countries hate the west as much as they do."
I see it like this...
Picture the schoolyard. Mouthy little prick (Israel) sees one of his classmates (Palestine) playing on the monkey bars. Mouthy little prick pushes classmate off bar: "This is for ME to play on...and if you try to get back on my best friend (who happens to be the school bully, the U.S.) is going kick your ass...
Even though the teacher (U.N.) tells mouthy little prick he has to SHARE with his classmates, the teacher is scared of the bully too...so the mouthy little prick ends up getting his way...
Then the classmate realizes that the bully is just as much responsible as the mouthy little prick for the shit he has to put up with and figures if he can find a way of making the bully pay for his friendship with this asshole the bully might tell the little jerk to fight his own battles...
I realize I'll likely get jumped on big time for this post...

here is an article that deals directly with questions that an honest, searching person might ask.

Hi Rex,
This really grabbed my attention
This is what many Christians object to, when certain scientists make absolute statements that are not backed up by sufficient evidence and which often ignores other evidences. Perhaps the reason why some scientists dismiss the possibility of God is based far more on a preconceived philosophy.(bold added)
The above quotation could be worded like this: "This is what many athiests object to, when certain creationists make absolute statements that are not backed up by sufficient evidence and which often ignore other evidences. Perhaps the reason why creationists dismiss what some scientists say is based far more on a preconcieved philosophy."
You give a prime example at the beginning of your post, to quote,
The main reason why science cannot prove or disprove the existence of God is primarily because God is a infinitely more superior being than we are
Right off the mark you make the enormous assumption - which you then state as fact - that God is an infinitely superior being.
You haven't established the existance of "God", let alone what attributes this "God" possesses. Yet, this belief is crucial to whatever else follows. For instance, when certain phenomena can't be explained by scientists, creationists already have the answer...it requires no actual proof beyond the standard fare that is usually offered up by creationists - the "orderliness of the universe", the "uniqueness of man", archaeological "evidence", and anecdotal tales of miraculous events, the "stuff" urban legends may have been born of, but that's just my personal view of "miracles".
Tell me, how does the "orderliness" of the universe prove the existence of "God"?
Here's how you quoted one scientist as saying: "
This law, also known as the Second Law of Thermodynamics, says that left to itself any physical system will decay as its matter becomes increasingly disorganized. As I thought it through, it occurred to me that as the universe was still intact there must be an amazingly powerful organizing force at work, keeping the universe controlled and in order. What is more, this force must be non-material or it would disintegrate. Eventually I came to the conclusion that this omnipotent and controlling force was the God of whom the Bible speaks.’
Well, I'm no scientist by any means and I don't have any significant knowledge of physics beyond what a grade 12 education provided me with, but I don't think the scientist quoted was particularly bright.
Even I can see that under laws of physics which can be demonstrated mathematically and now actually be observed with raw data from equipment such as the Hubble as well as from the worlds' most sophisticated observatories, that all of the matter in the universe never gets to be totally at rest. The movement, mass, and the position of every object - from the tiniest particles to the largest galaxies and everything contained therein - relative to every other object is orchestrated by physical laws which have always existed. As long as matter existed it has always had to obey these laws.
You think that "God" created these laws?
Do you think God was actually sitting around one day and said...
"Let's do some shit with all this matter. Let's organize it into things...
The uniqueness of man?? Take a look around. The natural world is full of unique species. Why should man be regarded as anymore "unique" than say a dolphin or a whale? Show me how that proves the existence of "God".
Archaeological eveidence? Show me evidence that proves, to the absolute exclusion of all other possibilities that for instance there was actually a flood that encompassed the globe, or any other event in the Bible rendered as a direct act of "God".
The same goes for "miracles". Show me actual, verifiable proof of a miracle. Lots of folks can tell you all kinds of tales about how some strange unexplainable shit happened to a friend of a friend or even to themselves, but verification always seems to be a problem...
I think that there are a lot of people who like the comfort of not having to rely on "proof". Because they start out with the basic assumption that "God" exists, and that this being is all-powerful and capable of anything, then, regardless of the fact that this basic premise hasn't really been established, when confronted with something that can't be explained, they just simply say "another one of God's mysteries...".
I think that snake oil salesmen, over the years, got rich from people like this...
Just my nickle...

yes - it's friday night - it's peak-viewing time and a brand new sit-com is about to hit the small screen .... set in the local kingdom hall, all your favourite characters are here - wacky, wonderful, cuddly, humourous and also the nasty ones who (by the end of the half-hour slot) get their come-uppance .... how to play .... take inspiration from your fave classic sit-com and mix it up with some real-life person you have known and loved and maybe not loved at all .... eg ... father jack, from the classic 'father ted' - stands at the back of the hall with a mike, ignoring all the eager hands waiting to answer up and instead shouts out 'feck!
' and 'arse' ... .
awh, go on ... go on ... go on ... go on ...
How 'bout Ned Flanders minding the Lit. Desk...
we had our local needs part on this tonight!
it was truly an excellent part, he literally made me cry it was so touching...i won't name the whole list he named, but he gave different examples of zeal...it isn't just going out in service, it means much more..here are some of the points he brought out..... 1.zeal is the older sister who despite her chronic illnesses which keep her feeling her worst, is never missing from the meeting, even though she might be more comfortable at home.. 2. zeal is the young child who has the courage to go up to the watchtower study conductor and ask to called on in a specific paragraph, and raises his hand anyway even though he knows the comment is already his or hers.. 3. zeal is the old couple in the hall whose only means of living is social security, but yet they always find something to give jehovah during each month.. 4. zeal is the single publisher or pioneer servant, who is drained of energy from working, but who is always in service no matter how tired they are.. those are just a few of the ones he mentioned.. can you give some examples of what zeal is?
i think this is a great subject!
Hi Shaneliza,
And there's many who show their zeal by staying with alchoholic husbands WHO ARE JWs who beat the shit out of them...
How about the zeal that many JW moms show when they smack their little 4 year old for falling asleep during the service meeting or Watch Tower study? It must take ALOT of 'zeal' for that...

while traveling near tampa, florida i passed the "jehovah's witness assembly hall" and was struck by the fact that that must be where they make them.

religion is the perfect justification for tyranny, because it doesn't require an ounce of reason or a shred of proof.

the question has always been, primarily: is jehovah really god?
secondarily, the question has been: are jehovahs witnesses really jehovahs witnesses?
or, perhaps worded differently: is the watchtower really the voice of christs appointed faithful and discreet slave of prophecy?
YK,
Are Jehovah’s Witnesses really Jehovah’s witnesses? Or, perhaps worded differently: Is the Watchtower really the voice of Christ’s appointed faithful and discreet slave of prophecy? Those are the so-called bottom-line debated questions and as-of-yet-unresolved issues.Unresolved issues?
