Where I live we are supposed to watch the memorial. We have zoom. One of my friends live in a different part of the country and they are having publishers(some of them elderly) going out and about buying the emblems to celebrate the memorial at home by themselves.

They are only testing people with extreme symptoms so you probably know someone who had it. If you’ve had cold like symptoms in the last 2 months you might have had it yourself but never got tested.

by Gorbatchov inwhat will happen after the covid-19 crisis?.
- economy with all the stand still corporations, people without work and mass injections of support money?.
- politics with the end of globalisation, closed borders and new geopolitic friends (italy / china russia), lack of support and working together in eu and local politics, did the current politician the right thing?.

We have an opportunity to change for the better. The time is coming when many will be happy to have a meal in front of them and a roof over their heads.
It will be interesting to see which industries thrive and which ones no longer exist. What real value do overpaid sport and movie stars bring to society? Do we need banks and department stores as they exist today?
Interesting times

Covid-19 (Coronavirus) - Status Update Thread
by Simon inthis topic is to focus on status updates & advice (no opinion or politics please).. status.
latest status is that it's serious, probably isn't going to be contained and most large companies are making contingency plans, cancelling large events etc... which i don't think would happen if it was just people being alarmist.
the incubation period means it may have already spread further and infected many more people than are currently known, so expect jumps in the numbers over the coming days and weeks.. tracking.

We are 3 to 4 generations removed from hard times(1929-1945). We live in a hedonistic society in the west. This is why our healthcare is such a shambles. Governments had money to piss away on pet projects in the good times and not invest in needed infrastructure.
In a democracy our elected officials are a reflection of us. You and I. Did I prepare to not have a pay check for however long this pandemic is when I was buying that big ass flat screen tv? Nope. Just like most everyone else. The good times were never gonna end.

Does capitalism DEPEND on socialism for its survival?
by The Fall Guy inthe banking industry needed the kiss-of-life 12 years ago via tax-payers' money; uk privatised railway companies are totally dependent on tax-payers' cash for survival, and now airlines will be queuing up to receive public money to ensure the survival of their private companies.
"european aviation faces a precarious future and it is clear that co-ordinated government backing tax-payer's money will be required to ensure the industry survives...” https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-51904769.
where should the line be drawn?.

But then they do only print what Castro, sorry, I mean "Trudeau", pays them to.
The resemblance is uncanny
