Is there a renewed iemphasis on the "go bag" in the past mont or so?

my soon to be ex moved out over a year ago.

he left most of his things here ( i guess he thinks of my house as his personal storage unit).

one thing he left was his survival backpack, i assume his "go bag".

Being prepared for an emergency is not necessarily a bad thing. Mrs Hoser and I are(we think) prepared for an emergency. Just look at what happened in Texas last week.

The problem with the jw go bag is it is too Jim Jonesy. A while back we got an unexpected text on a Saturday morning to meet in the Kingdom Hall parking lot in one hour with our go bags. Most in the congregation complied. A little too culty for us.

The jws are confusing disaster preparedness with the great tribulation. Weather and other events happen from time to time and we all should have a plan.

A Generation Change Again???

i have heard a few whispers that once again they are going to be changing the generation teaching.

does anybody have on info on this?.

i would love to be able to hit my family with a. .

They might just drop 1914. Say we miscalculated and were off by a hundred years. Then they could go back to those that saw 2014 are the generation. The problem with that is it puts the end too far away. 1975 would be a better time to say the last days began.

i am not saying all jw congregants are pessimistic, but i would go as far to say all pimi jw congregants are pessimistic.. why do i say this, my wife is my measuring stick.

she has barely an optimistic bone in her being.

she will only focus on the bad parts of anything.

It’s all salesmanship. The new car dealer needs to convince you that your old one is unreliable in order to sell you a new one. Then he has to sell you on the idea that the one you just bought might break down in order to sell you extended warranty.

Jws convince each other that the world is so bad and can’t be fixed so why invest more in it than you have to. They sell you on the idea of a “new” system. If you run out of time and die the resurrection is the extended warranty that you probably won’t be allowed to collect because of the fine print in the contract.

The organization needs pessimism to stay in business.

Google threatening to pull search engine from Australia

government is saying google should pay fees to news media for aggregating news.

google says they will geo-block australia from search if forced to.

raises some interesting questions about how dependant we have all become and how entangled google is in our lives.

as a jw did you have a pioneer sister/elder's wife who was the biggest busybody, self righteous, arrogant pus in the circuit?

who would look down on others and treat people like crap.. without giving to much away, i experienced one that knew everyone in circuit.

and if she or her husband saw or heard something they didn't like it was " you know what the bible says" regardless if it was in there or not.

It seemed to me that when a new circuit overseer came to town they would always stay at the home of the most gossipy, intruding elders wife.

That way if you weren’t in you would know at the first meeting by how the CO and his wife treated you.

Changed From "Disfellowshipped" to "No Longer One of Jehovah's Witnesses!

a friend is trying to figure out the approximate date or letter, which indicated a change from the wording of public announcements.. they changed from saying the person has been disfellowshipped to saying that a person was no longer one of jehovah's witnesses.. i thought it was around the time of the bulgaria scandal.. could you help us out to remember when this change took place?

if we could remember the approximate year, we could look up all the boe's for that year and might find the letter.. many thanks!.
