i am really tired of waiting for the other side of armageddon to feel better.
i have'nt felt very well for years, with fibromyalgia and depression and other things.
my friend who is a baptised jw tells me the only way we will ever feel any better is to wait for the other side of armageddon.

i wanted to let you know that i told my mother i had found some information on the internet regarding jw,s.
i was then subjected to 2 odd hours on the phone about why apostates are so wrong and how these people are typist's for satan.
she put her husband on the phone too who went on a lot too....basically they wore me down and i ended the weakest again!
There may be two things going on here...
1) The JW thing... (which you discussed)
2) She is your mom - and you are still showing respect to her (or she is demanding it)
When I was younger, after I left home - my mom really dissed me (as well as the other family members).
What I noticed though, was that my mom would phone me at work - during the day - at a time when all my siblings were also at work - and not at home. Then she would ramble on and on... taking the opportunity to talk to me - at a time when SHE was not monitored by the others.
I always would literally tremble... and get uncontrollable shakes... and one time I laid the phone down to regain a measure of composure. I picked up the phone, and she was STILL going on and on... hadn't even noticed that I had not 'responded' for a bit. I finally got to the point where I hung up the phone on her. No warniing, I just did it.
Within a few seconds the phone rang again. I got up - and walked towards the door - to leave. As I did so, I told my lab partner Ken, "Answer the phone, please." and left. (He looked at me kinda puzzled.)
When I got back a few minutes later, I asked Ken... "Well? Who was it?"
He replied (in his quiet tone), "It was your mom. She cussed me out - telling me I shouldn't hang up on her. I told her I was Ken, and she got quiet."
Well... it cured her of phoning me at work. *wide grin*
Plus, I had taken control of the situation, and did not feel so helpless after that.
I am not recommending hanging up on your mom... well... maybe I am... you will do what you need to do to feel better.

as a youngster... i remember seeing a movie called 'fiddler on the roof'.. in that movie - about a jewish family... three daughters who get married... one goes off and follows her heart - which means that she goes against 'tradition' of the jews.. as a result - her father - does the 'jewish' thing... and rips his garments while saying "i have no daughter.
" (very melodramatic.
) he then shuns her.. (sound familiar?).

My mother... a devout JW - thought that was terrible for him to do that to his own daughter.
Okay. Here is an idea. For those that are about to be shunned... or who can still get their JW rellies - who do the shunning - to do so...
Get them to watch this movie... or, another one is... "The Jazz Singer" with Neil Diamond. Same principle - his father shuns him - because he goes off and does his own thing.
What I have noticed is that people - in general - will tend to get engrossed in movies... sometimes taking the side of the 'underdog'.
Once they watch a movie like this... then one could simply ask the question... "How ridiculous. Look at how that religion, and its' teachings divides a family."
I know that I am not thinking this through all the way... but it seems to me that movies like this might be the way to at least start 'cracking the ice', so to speak.

as many know, i go visit my aunt some weekends.
she lives northwest of the city - in a small town.. saturday evening... i went outside to get something from my car.
most of the lights were off... and i looked up.. there were a billion - and one - stars (and planets) - in the sky.
Elsewhere,
No - she lives in a small town near Bandera, TX. (The self-proclaimed Cowboy Capital of Texas)
Interesting that you mention telescope set-ups, though. I saw a magazine while there that she gets from the power company.
In it, they had a satellite photo of the earth - Texas in particular - at night. I could pick out major cities... Dallas/Ft. Worth - is one BIG light... San Antonio... and Austin... with small blips along IH-35 - New Braunfels and San Marcos.
The area where my aunt lives... was all dark.

It was also quiet. A peaceful quiet. Nice.
The kind of night and quiet that is good to share with someone special.
