could someone explain to me why they held the memorial on the wrong date?
this week the jews celebrate purim--not pesach.
we are actually in the month of adar.
This might explain why... they didn't use the old schpeel like they used to about the 'date' that they celebrate the memorial...
Of course... it's been a while since I've been... but I seem to recall a long drawn out explanation of theirs going into the 'Nisan 14' explanation, *blah* *blah* *blah* *eyes glaze over*
(Now I know why none of that stuck... I always tuned out after a bit... and went into 'daydream-mode')

i bought my skirt and sweater at a church sale this morning.

You could always get one of those 'juice packs' that kids use for lunches... the kind that you puncture it with the straw and sip the juice?
Hide it in your bosom and ... at the right moment take out the straw and IMPALE - oh, never mind.

Your solution sounds reasonable - if it works for you. Just know that them there attendants bird-dog that dish being passed down the aisle... your 'sneaking' your bread may hafta become a 'magic act'.

i had heard of accounts of young baptisms, but i figured it was the exception rather than the rule.
now i wonder, after viewing the models of youth paraded at the last assembly.
i took note of the ages and age of baptism of the five young men (no girls this time) who were interviewed as models of jw youth at this last week's assembly.
"Dear JWD friends. What do JW boys and men do to relieve their aggression, if they don't have sports?"
Well... for me... since I wasn't allowed to look at girls... 'worldy' OR JW - I did a lot of what they now call 'power walking'. Got pretty good at it. Very few could keep up with me.
I also ran track in High School - 11th grade - the coach let me do that - (Thank you Coach Lampe) - and I was able to do _something_ during P.E. whilst the others were playing some sort of sport - which I was no good at.
I also rode my bicycle a lot.
I also withdrew into myself... at one time going beyond introverted... to catatonic. But that's another story.
No sports though... unless it was at home. I remember my mom got us a basketball hoop which we put up... but I was so lowsy at tossing a ball through the hoop... I think it rusted. (the hoop - not the ball.)
Oh well...

my wife got dunked, so i am an "unbelieving mate" (ubm).
however that name does offend me.
i do believe in god, and i am deeply grateful for christ's sacrifice.
Ummm... my experience may not fall into the category of the 'UBM'... as I was once a JW - and then just drifted away.
The wifey - she (and the daughter) were (and are) still JWs, and would go to the meetings, etc.
Anyway... one bit that I noticed - after a while, is that... due to their teachings - and their 'head of the house' bit... the wife (now 'ex'), tended to ignore anything that I said.
After all... I was an unbelieving mate. She felt that she was relieved of that obligation of 'submission' to me as the 'head of house' bit... or whatever they teach.
Rubbish - all of it. All I know is that she began to be quite rude and offensive in the final years of marriage.
One reason why she is 'ex' now. I just refused to put up with that - and I knew it wouldn't cease, as long as she is involved with that cult.

when i was a little boy, the book study conductor would get the children to count how many times "jehovah" was said during the book study.
anyone remember this?.

shame on you all" Well, perhaps you did not read the topic correctly. It deals with sports - and how the JWs keep their young from participating in sports (or any OTHER fun activities) I know from personal experience - growing up a JW - how I was not allowed to participate in school sports - or even GO to a sport - like a school football game on Friday night. It is difficult to tell from just one post - but are you saying that other religions also do not allow these activities - for their children? If that is true - then I grew up in a neighborhood where there were a boatload of churches - and all the kids at school were heathens - and did not go to these churches. No - I am smarter than that. I know that those same kids that participated in sports were either Baptist, Methodist, Prebysterian, Catholic, etc - and their religions allowed such activities for the kids. (Not to mention - allowing them to go to college - and get a better education - after High School) Regards, Jim TX
