....although I am working out how to use the generation change and 607 to fade away without any problems....."Look, I am not saying I don't beleive in Jesus or God (although it's obvious everyone here that I don't, that will just soften the blow), but I cannot agree with or teach this change since they are literally making up definitions for words, even the math in the publication is wrong about 1914. Pyramids! I still love the brothers and sisters and KNOW the org is right on SOME things, but this simply CANNOT be true..."

How Do People Like Sir 82 & Others Who Are Active JWs Do It ???
by minimus ini appreciate any who tell us what the latest co's talk is about or what was said at the meetings.
i just don't know how you can do it.

Well, I have my reasons...familial and financial, primarily.
As to how I:
- sit through the meetings? I miss as many as I can and when I do go, I mentally laugh at what I hearing or check out the hotties and let my imagination run wild or play poker on my blackberry.
- Go out in service? About once every two months when I go I make sure to get in the groups that is doing return visits or visiting the older ones on the congregation that are house-bound. They ALL have cats and I am allergic, so I guess I'll have to sit here in car again, darn it, and send text messages to my friends or play poker on my blackberry. An alternative strategry is to have a 12:30 tee time (this works best with another brother). I have a single RV that is a demented old man that is 45 mins away on the other side of county, so we do my RV first, take break, drive back to town and then I gotta go meet brother so and so....see ya guys (yet amazingly I get 8 hours every single month, enough to avoid the hounders but not enough to qualify for anything). I live where you can golf 9 months out of the year, so that one works well. In the winter months I just take a bunch of the younger ones snowboarding on saturdays. Amazingly, I am often too sore to make it to meetings on Sunday...
- I never answer at the meetings because "I just don't feel like my answers are are good as anyone elses and sometimes I don't know if I am phrasing it right so I don't want to stumble anyone and it just feels like cheating to repeat it back from the watchtower"
- avoid talking about myself? Generic non-answers and then show a "genuine" interest in what is going on with the other person for two minutes and then i need to run off to talk to another brother real quick before he leaves....

Training us better to talk to people at the doors.
by life is to short inok so many of you did not mind sitting and wasting time in a car while out in service because it beat banging on doors and trying to convince someone to join a religion that at least i could not fully explain even to myself much less someone else.
i agree sitting in a car beat banging on doors hands down.
but was it not crazy going door to door.

A Very Solomn Warning!
by wannabe ina very solemn warning!.
how many people today really understand the bible?
would we believe that, some or any, for that matter, of the mainline religious leader's of christendom's great system of religion, understand the bible well enough to teach it to their flock's?

Unless we are drawn by Jehovah to his Son, we will have no approach to the Father.
Wait, so the Father approaches us to tell us to approach the Son to approach the Father?
Makes perfect sense.....

Stephen Hawking knows more about heaven than Jesus did.
by moshe ini have been watching the discovery channel's, 'into the universe with stephen hawking' and it occurred to me that professor hawking knows more about heaven (which is just part of entire universe) than jesus did.
maybe jesus knew about black holes, alien life, other worlds, the origin of the universe, etc.
jesus could have told us something so remarkable about our universe that it would have taken us 2000 years to confirm jesus' divine knowledge and prove he was the son of g-d, but he instead decided to tell us that heaven "has many rooms"- whoop-dee-doo.. i don't think jesus had a clue that there was anything out the in the physical universe beyond what he could see with his own eyes.

I don't believe that Christ was any more divine than Buddha or any other religious innovator.
Oh, well, who cares what he said, then, since it's so pretty much the same thing hundres of others before and after him preached?
Or do you just jump on anything or anyone you think might be Christian?
Only if she's hot. Or i'm drunk.
And yes, I believe it's myth, although I believe myth is too powerful to society and to the individual to be dismissed lightly.
Myths only have the power people give them.
I'm just asking how could a Jewish man of that time period, who if he was indeed a real individual, seems to have been more bent to metaphysics and philosophy than anything, could have access to the kind of advanced knowledge you think he should have taught people? He wasn't a scientist, nor particularly scientifically minded, nor a deity from what I can tell.
He couldn't. Thats the point.

I love having my views challenged, I mean, how weak would my faith have to be to NOT defend it?
Are you asking me out?
