I hope they will be gone in a few generations. And rob, it's never too late to save and start. I am kinda starting over. I am just starting college at 36.

Have been away a while
by robinhoodxldr inrobinhoodxldr noticed its been 8 years since i first posted and only 6 posts.
i'll be 53 next year and along with my slightly younger wife lady marion we have both been busy making a living trying to save up for our retirement in this down economy.
sometimes i find myself wishing we had all the money we spent on dress clothes and gas money attending meetings over all the years.

Twilight Zone: To See the Invisible Man (Shunning)
by cabasilas ini found one of my favorite twilight zone episodes at you tube.
it's entitled "to see the inivisible man.
" it deals with a parallel universe where people are punished by one year's "invisibility" if they don't obey laws.

I remember that episode. It totally reminds me of shunning.

Do you believe in censoring information at all?
by sabastious inas witnesses we all grew up with our information heavily censored.
it has got me to thinking: do i think censoring information is ever a good thing?.
i had this bethelite friend back when i was a witness and he would be careful who he told about the craziness behind those doors.

I think information should, in general, NOT be censored. I do not think that everyone is entitled to know everything, such as personal details, however, especially if it is not relevant to the person asking.

On the day you eat...
by PSacramento insince it has been brought up a few time, i though it cool to post this interpretation of this part of genesis 2:.
http://biologos.org/blog/genesis-creation-and-ancient-interpreters-on-the-day-you-eat-of-it/.
one issue that occupied the attention of many early interpreters is found in genesis 2:16-17, where god warns not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for on the day you eat of it you shall die.. the problem is well known: adam (and eve) did eat of the fruit, but they did not die on that day.

@notverylikely- regarding Adam's living forever: it is implied that Adam was intended to live forever in that Jehovah warned him he would absolutly die IF he ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and bad.
Oh, sorry. You are assuming it's implied. There are all other sorts of days he could have died. There is nothing that says "this day or forever". Assumed does not equal implied.
Would not the warning he would die IF he ate from that tree indicate that he would only die if he did so?
It said "in that day" he would die. The converse of "that day" is NOT forever. Pure assumption.
Since animals always die, Adam was very well aware of this. He saw it.
Then please show me a record in the Bible of Adam seeing an animal die before he ate from the tree. Take all the time you need.
What if Adam had not sinned? He would not have died since death was the punishment for sin. Thus he would have lived forever.
What if? There is nothing that says he would have lived forever. Assuming so is fallacious.

It seems to me that Adam was dead in God's eyes on the day that he disobeyed and ate the fruit
But he didn't die.
He was already as good as dead to Jehovah no matter how many more literal years he lived on for.
Except that he didn't die that very day like God said he would.
And he died within that 1000 year day.
Except that a day isn't a thousand years.
But again it did not matter to Jehovah for Jehovah knew that now Adam would definatly die, whereas before he sinned God intended to have Adam live on forever.
Except that nowhere does the account say he was supposed to live forever.
Also since the animals died Adam knew what death was.
Except there is no account of an animal dying so Adam would know what it was.

Generation Teaching - Everyone is speechless?
by Red Piller inmaybe the effect of this change is bigger than realized?
in 1995, it was discussed (positively) by everybody, during the week we studied the wt.
one elder stepped down and was looked down upon.

I bet he is now feverishly writing to get out his next tomb of baloney.
Now now, he's a JW and a prophet. Despite how wrong all the evidence shows he is, the prophet status trumps everythng.
Of course, I would love to see him try and sell that to the GB.

Stephen Hawkings is a nutter for believing in a fantasy
by Mad Dawg instephen hawkings from here:.
in the grand design we explain why, according to quantum theory, the cosmos does not have just a single existence, or history, but rather that every possible history of the universe exists simultaneously.
we question the conventional concept of reality, posing instead a "model-dependent" theory of reality.

Your humidfier is too moist..
Yeah, I discovered my hygrometer wasn't working right, I just need a better one, I guess. It kept showing the humidity as way too low and I kept trying to get it higher and higher and then realized something was up and tested the hygrometer and it's busted. I have heard rumors that I might, for my birthday, be getting a macanudo humidor with an integrated digital hygrometer and humidifier.
Like I said, the smoke was awesome, just way to moist. I am recitfying the moisture issue though.

Can the existence of God be proved through scientific inquiry?
by caliber inbelow are thoughts from the posted web site... i am interested in how those who put full faith in the scientific method would answer.. can the existence of god be proved through scientific inquiry?
can playing the board game monopoly prove whether charles darrow or lizzie magie invented the game?
can assembling a puzzle of the mona lisa prove the existence of leonardo da vinci?

IF and this is a big IF, God sees that faith is the KEY attribute that he looks for then proving his existence in a way that doesn't require faith may be outside his "master plan".
Maybe, my friend, but if so, God shouldn't run his love like the CIA, where everyone is on a need to know basis.

Sure, but there are those who really, truly believe in a multiverse.
Well those people ARE nutters.
Outlaw, I am having a beer right now.
BTW, I had an oscuro Exile cigar last night. Deliciuous smoke, but not enough smoke and I had trouble keeping it lit, but I think that may have had more to do with my slightly over humidifying my humidor (due to a faulty hygrometer, I found out) than the cigar itself.
