What will happen if you are I.D'd ?
by wobble inmany on here are keen to hide their identity, me included, i don't want to be df'd and many of the views i express on here would be enough for most jc's to df me sine die.. anyone reading on here who knows me a little more than vaguely could work out who i am, my list of cars i have owned for example, on another thread.. but what could they do ?.
i know they could make a case, and then as happened to a young sister in a neighbouring congo.
say they would investigate why the bro.

JW's: Did You Tattle-Tale To The Elders When You Heard Things?
by mentallyfree31 injust curious...how many of you went to the elders and reported to them things that you heard through gossip?
.
and how many of you knew things that could get people disfellowshipped, but decided not to tell the elders?.

Have you ever made prank phone calls?
by asilentone ini have never done it and i would not do it ever.
the reason why i am asking all of you is because i am shocked that one of my classy facebook friends admitted making prank phone calls in the past.

I never called the cops. We mostly called boys and hung up. For some reason we called abortion clinics to enquire about services, dont ask me why. We also left crazy messages on peoples answering machines.

"No but I've recieved a few. It's very un-nerving to get one and also very childish to make one."
If you are not a kid, it's called stalking/harrassment.

Heck yeah! Me and my friends used to love making prank calls. That was back in the day before *69 and caller id. Technology ruined that fun- not that I would do such things now.
We also played hotel pranks too.

How Do You Like This?
by snowbird inthe execution of john doe.
september 12, 1978, dawned bright and clear with a promise of an early fall coolness to counteract the oppressive heat that had lingered sullenly over the countryside.. in his prison cell, john doe ate his last breakfast, savoring each bite of the crisp bacon, fluffy eggs, and buttery grits.
the scalding hot coffee, laced with real cream, tasted like the nectar of gods as he swirled it around in his mouth before swallowing it with gusto.. he had arisen early, showering and shaving in the pre-dawn hours before his daily reading of the scriptures.

Ok Zid. I think I see that for you the issue is more whether or not the writer intended a deeper meaning. Since you are a writer, I can see why you are passionate about the reader not trying to "see" a meaning you did not intend. As a reader though, part of the joy of reading for me is to be moved to think, imagine, and to learn. I think that whether or not a certain work is seen by the reader as having a deeper meaning/between the lines meaning is fairly subjective, and thus cannot be right or wrong, it just is. Isn't that the purpose of book clubs? People get together and share their viewpoints about a work, what it meant (for them), etc.

"Shows that you still don't understand...
This is a work of FICTION - any resemblance to persons living or dead is STRICTLY COINCIDENTAL!!!"
No I understand it being a work of fiction. Just because something is a work of fiction does not mean that there cannot be parallels, symbolism, etc. Also the "strictly coincidental" label was not on this particular tale. I also must agree with John Doe- the poster, about good writing often having symbolism. I've read alot of fiction that made me think beyond the actual words on the paper. Some works do have deeper meaning/layers.

"That's what the Jews said about christ, is it not? Was he not executed as a common criminal?"
This is what makes that not comparable- "John Doe lay on his cot and relived the memory of that night 10 years ago that had forever changed his world, his outlook, his raison d'etre."
"Why had he gone along with Jimmy Joe when he knew that there was no chance of their pulling it off? True, they had done a number of hits before and had gotten away without even a description from their terrified victims,"
John Doe was convicted, and acknowledged his guilt. Therefore his execution was justified. Christ was guilty of nothing.

Oh okay. But can you tell me what the "V" sign means? Seems like that was important.
