The coverage on TV has been good, the BBC are throwing plenty of time at it. I agree the atmosphere doesn't seem to all that. India lost the media battle on the run-up to the games which not ideal. It'll be very different when it comes to Scotland.

Megan doesn't have Cancer! (Update)
by KW13 inwe went on wednesday to the hospital.
apparently she is too young to have a mammogram or something to that effect.
they did however do one of those ultrasound scans and she was subject to a basic physical examination.. it's good news really, although now we need to know why it's happening because apparently she may have to have an operation to remove the ducts in her breast to find out what exactly is going on.

Hi KW13,
Firstly - that sounds really good initial news. Diagnosis can be a long process of elimination so bear with it.
He kept getting confused too, asking how long she has been pregnant (WTF...18 months too late their buddy, we just told you that.)
I think the question was how long was she pregnant i.e. was the pregnancy full term. If the twins were premature that could affect milk production. Questions doctors ask sometimes seem irratic and odd but they are trying to rule things out.
I really hope you find out what this is and she gets better soon.

Getting a lesson in political correctness
by keyser soze ini've just been informed that it's inappropriate to refer to a hispanic person as mexican, even if they actually are from mexico.
i really wasn't aware of this until now.. what should i do if i come across a person from canada?
is there a less offensive term than "canadian" that i can use?

I need some help with a plot point for the next novel
by JeffT inmy first effort "armageddon's disciples" is being considered by a publisher, i'll let you know if anything happens.. in the meantime i'm noodling around with what to do next.. i have an idea, but i'm curious if you guys think one of my plot points is realistic.
the antagonist is going to be a guy moving through jw circles, moving from congo to congo every two or three years.
not an elder, mabye an ms, turns in his 10-15 hours consistently, never causes trouble, not married, maybe a little odd as he's kind of a loner.. the plot point is that he's pretty much a cipher, no one pays much attention to him.

IMHO. If he moves from congo to congo every 2-3 years he'll still be considered a neebie. He might be viewed with some suspicion by the cong but the elders will think he's fine as long as he gets an ok letter. Sure they might want to know his reason for moving but if he's keeping a low profile it should be no problem coming up with an acceptable reason.
If it was me moving to a new cong I'd say to the new elders that this was a permanent move and I'd be here long term. That should keep them happy and then in 3 years tell them something came up bla bla.
Good luck with the publishing. If you get accepted be sure to ask what they'll do to promote it. You should have a plan of how you will promote yourself (JWN readership will be a great start, doing tours and whatever publicity you can get etc) which you can share with them. All about getting on as many tables in bookstores and part of deals on the internet. I'm sure you will have already thought of this and have it covered but just in case.

In a world that needs Magazines and newspapers to reflect shallow issues like what shoes their favourite actor wears
Would that be the same world that needs printed material to reflect shallow issues like what shoes their well appointed JW wear when visiting bethel? A shallow world indeed.

"There's really no good reason why we should turn our time in late"
by Crisis of Conscience inanother wonderful part this week at the meeting.
and this is what the brother said.. he related examples, based on the om book, as to how jehovah kept records.
funny part is, they all applied to population, the amount of people.. is there any part of the bible that talks about how jehovah kept a log of hours on some occasion?

Welcome fsm,
I did a microwave district convention just before I left. Turned up for a few minutes to get a programme and again to get the new literature - the rest of the weekend was spent at the beach and shopping.
I always turned my report in on time as it seemed easier than having an elder phone up and hassle you. It's not the say the report was accurate towards the end.

Some christmas spirit, WT style!
by bohm inwell, i know its a bit self-serving since i allready posted this in jwfacts thread http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/bible/199939/1/watchtower-images-required, but i think its quite funny and things have been kind of serious around here for the past couple of weeks.. it seem to me that when jahs chanel have desided (im kidding, they has been told) the one and true god really hate christmas and will kill you in nasty ways if you go ahead and celebrate it, it provide a pretty compelling case for not celebrating christmas.
but the governing body can make an even stronger case than that: not only will jesus cry and clice you up if you celebrate christmas, you will also have a really bad time.
wow!.

You must work in a cr4p office debator. I really hope you have a better xmas this year. Let me know when you're next looking for work - most of the companies I've worked for had xmas parties that were nothing less than spectacular.
The WTS photography is of a style that suits what they write.
