  Email I sent to mom after huge fight today

  well my mom and i got into a pretty bad argument today over the phone.

  it basically came down to the fact that she couldn't handle what i was saying about the organization, etc and all she could come back to me was that i "hated her?

  " i guess i just wanted to share and vent a little too....thanks for letting me do so.. .

  MeanGirl, great response from your mum. No huge apology but a lot said for a JW. You're spot on with what you said about debator.

  What we can do is have lots of parties/gatherings especially with children and people from the congregation building up relationships and having loads of fun doing it. Presents given at any time out of love and encouragement can also be used productively rather than at sets times from the previous culture. Have alternate social activities replacing any lost ones.

  Now what congregation did you go to where you had lot's of parties, loads of fun? Was that the same congregation where you stroked the tigers and petted the pandas? You never went to a KH when you were young and if you did you're talking total bs right now.

  It isn't easy but thats because Witnesses are one of the few Christian religions were believing in God is a life choice (In the pattern of early Christians) rather than a hobby that barely intrudes in the rest of your life

  I think if you read the lines that MeanGirl wrote instead of inbetween them, like most young JW's, MeanGirl didn't make that life choice - it was forced upon her.

  Sounds like you always had your head screwed on putting your wife first

  Bunch of guys with cars - I'm picturing Mad Max now - bet that was fun. Would be interesting to hear more of your experiences of what it was like for young people in Oz. I think there is a very different vibe in each country. The UK was wholesome and boring and not much happened with acceptable socialising. There was a social party scene, much frowned upon. Ireland was really quiet - one gathering every six months - yawn - certainly not enough to keep the young interested.

  Mbaby - that is hilarious!

  I've never send flowers if I've made a mistake - only wanted them to be associated with a positive feeling.

  I once turned up to collect someone for FS with an armfull of huge red roses wrapped in cloth - about 80 of them. I had to drive to New Covent Garden market in London at 5am to get them. They looked and smelled great but the surprise element was good. Shame we had to go on FS although the afternoon was fab

  so today was my first sunday meeting that i didn't go with my wife.

  as an update she has decided not to move out right now...because she doesn't have anywhere to go.

  but she is giving me the silent treatment.

  BroDan,

  This may sound unkind but it's something she has been planning behind your back for more than just a few hours, that's why she's been cold and saying very very little for days now. Ensure you get access to your children - that is what your children need and what you need. If you haven't got money for a lawyer you certainly can't afford to fly to Denver every weekend for visitation. You need to spend a little now to get this kind of thing sorted - you'll not regret it for the next decade or two.

  Most of all I'm so sorry. However terrible, however sick you feel right now, it may not get better tonight or tomorrow but will get better soon. Whatever advice you need you know we're here 24/7.

  There was no hostility towards religion as such among the age group, the study found. as "fewer and fewer young people are being brought up in households with religiously inclined parents". But the analysis said that teenagers and people in their 20s are not the rebels of the 1960s and 70s - the so-called Generation X - who rejected both their parents and Christianity, and were hostile to the Church

  Wonder if any JW's formed part of the survey. Because few kids today are forced to go to several meetings a week, go on field service and knock on the doors of their school friends and be an outcast in school. Wouldn't suprise me if there are plenty of generation X's waiting to break out of the Borg.

  my bf is one of jw mainly to please his parents, since he doesn't believe half the stuff they preach.

  now i'v been going to the meetings for over 2 years partly because is pretty much the only way i'd get his parents approval.

  i am in the process of studying the bible to become baptized.

  You've done a lot for your bf - he and his family should be very grateful to have you!

  If you get baptised you are committing your life to this organisation. You can never leave without either being disfellowshipped which means being shunned by everyone including your bf and his family or disassociated which would result in the same things. This will happen if you ever admit you don't agree with everything they say. You could slowly leave over a long period of time which can be risky and most would shun you anyway.

  This isn't a Sunday worship religion, this is mind control over years and years. Meeting attendance isn't an option. Field service isn't an option, the elders will hound you.

  If your bf loved you he wouldn't be trying to trap you in this.

  Sadly many on this site have gone to extreme lengths to leave the cult and still suffering from it.

  well, folks, this little mermaid just got back from the sad she had to attend w/her husband so as to keep a measure of peace (we're in the process of working out compromises...you know how it goes) i was pretty mad by the end of the day (thank god it ended at 4:00) mostly because i learned some new things that i would never have guessed in a million years.. did you know that satan is setting up artificial "refuges" as a counterfeit to jehovah's "true refuge"which is...his organization???

  now satan's "false refuges" are pretty damn bad, like, for instance, "independent thinking.

  " no, siree bob, we don't want none of that!!

  MMXIV and St. George - you are now financially secure, but you are not in the "truth."

  The society loves to say that if you go to Uni you will end up leaving the truth. I know several JW's who went through higher education and stayed in the truth long enough so Uni couldn't be blamed for them leaving. That was so younger JW's at the KH would be tolerated to go to Uni.

  I was still a JW long after I finished college although had stopped to believe long before.
