Barbershop - Controversy or Not?

two weeks ago, i checked out (saw) barber shop.

it was very funny and very entertaining.

it was very true to life.

This character also says "Oj did it" and that the police had a reason to beat Rodney King up because he was a drunk who was driving a hundred miles an hour when they pulled him over. (I don't remember the exact details of Rodney King, I was only 8 or so at the time, but I do remember that my cousin was a Federal Marshal in LA and that they had a long history with King before the beat the crap out of him on that night. (not saying they were right, but probably frustration got the better of them))

Anyway, I heard Al Sharpton has his panties in a bundle over this, and is now upset with Cedric the Entertainer. Does he fail to realize this is a CHARACTER, and whether Sharpton likes it or not, people like that exisit. It's called satire...it's funny because we all know someone like that...

Oh well, I thought the movie was funny myself. But what the hell do I know...

More Talk About SEX, Baby!

i was listening today to the jimmy young show on radio 2. apart from the fact that jimmy young wasn't present, the show followed it's usual pattern of righteous indignation against teenagers, asylum seekers, unmarried young mothers and the unemployed.. todays topic was sex education.. how old should children be before they know about sex?

or should i say, be told all about sex?.

i could't believe what i was hearing.

Just to prove statistics can be skewed in ANY direction you wish...

I haven't seen either of these studies, but I head that people who don't talk about sex, don't go to sex education, are more likely to NOT use birthcontrol of any kind. They are simply unaware, or niave about sex. So they are getting either preggers or STD's. (so the idea that NOT talking about it will stop them from having sex is insane. They are still having sex, they are just not doing it safely)

I am not familar with this show Eman, but from the way you described it I would guess these people are all against abortion, and protecting the fetus and what not, so why would they be against sex ed if it can teach these kids to use protection and not have to even think/worry about an abortion.

Just thought I would share that...

Lets Go A's

over the following weeks though out october you can register your cheers for chavy, huddy and miggy as they march on through to thier 5 world searies title in oakland and 10th over all for the franchies.

since the oakland a's are the official team for x-dubs we can join together in rooting for tim hudson, mark (agent) mulder, barry (cy young) zito, eric chavez, migel (mvp) tehada, jermain dye and the rest of the guys.

Dragon brings up some good points...why is he being called out as a troll?

He doesn't have a right to have some concerns about this movement? And frankly I saw it as a call to action: to not be complacent and let one man, and one organization, and one march be the end (I saw way too many posts on this board after the march that made it seem like "huzah-we are done! On to the next battle!") there are lots of things to be done. I thought Dragon made some great suggestions for people to get even more involved.

twisted metal black rated "m" is a ps2 game which promotes torture in all it's forms.

in one of the "stories" in that game a sadistic plastic surgeon removes the eyes and tongue of his patient and sews his eyelids and mouth closed.

before starting his mutilation the surgeon starts to play a piece of music: pagliacci's, vesti la giubba.

Try reading the Iliad if you want gore and entrails. There are shocking things all over the place. Would you let your kid surf the net by themelves? They could come across REAL pictures of mutilation. How about Comic Books? Some of them are pretty graphic, you want to shut them down too? How about art? If you sanction Sony it is just the begining of things you could find degrading and disgusting.

Am I condoning this game, of course not. I would never play it, nor allow anyone in my family to. You lay the blame on Sony. Sony is making a buck--is that wrong? Nope it's capitalism. You can argue that it is morally wrong to market such games to children, but you cannot argue that Sony does not have the right to manufacture such a game. Apparantly they see a market for this. The blame and issue lays with parents. Take some responsibility for what your kids do and turn off the freaking video games all together if you are so concerned.

Men cooking in the kitchen are sexy! No way is that wussy...unless you are burning mac and cheese, and cooking tomato soup without adding milk or water (had a boyfriend do that once) so I guess I need to amend my statement. Men who are proficient in the kitchen, are sexy!
