Your seat can be used as a floatation device?

over the last year i have had to fly to many destinations.

in doing so, i have memorized the flight attendant speech that begins each flight.

my favorite part is, "in the event of a water landing, your seat can be used as a floatation device.

Nice post Ken, you always seem to be pretty logical in your thinking.

However I couldn't help but think about warning labels. For example pop bottles tell you to open it AWAY from face as an explosion may occur and result in injury.

Or beware, contents served hot--it's coffee I should hope so!

Read some warning labels, it's really hysterical because you can picture people actually trying some of these things. Darwin is alive and well, let's let nature take it's course and stop warning these people of their stupidity!

I understand the whole idea you were making behind sugar coating the truth of the matter. But sometimes we can go to the other end of the spectrum and over simplify the truth in effect treating people like morons.

I was actually THINKING...

ok--very unlike me to be reflective or meditate...especially on things of a biblical nature, but today i was home sick and left with thoughts and a lot of cold medicine, so here i am with my bible based thought of the day...what do you people make of this: .

"and the lord god said unto the serpent because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life" .

does that mean snakes had legs at some point?

Does that mean snakes had legs at some point? And why did God punish the snake? Like it was his fault he was the chosen vessel of Satan. OR WORSE! What if snakes had wings? I'd crap myself if we lived in an age of flying snakes!! OH THE HUMANITY! Is this why I have such a deep fear of snakes today? Why can't they just chew their food like all other creatures? WHY MUST THEY SWALLOW IT WHOLE?

Or does this just go to show the Bible is a silly little book that can be fun to read?

Have any of you read Genesis...cripes, literary critics would be all over the dude who wrote this, the construction is awful, the characters are life-less and bland! The storyline is lame! And don't even get me started on the dialouge and plot holes!

Ok I am going back to bed now...thinking hurts!

obviously, all of the main characters are pretty good (my favourite main character is homer, dohhh!

Actually I must correct some one here, it's Jeebus, not Jeevus...

And another one, I heard recently tho I forget the whole scenario. Homer is in some sort of major trouble and he cries out "Jesus on a Buddha I love you all!"

That's my new favorite phrase to throw in at innapropriate moments!

Can psychic energy heal?

recently i was watching a documentary on this woman who claimed that she could heal people with the power of her mind.

the documentary went into interviewing people about their experiences, and many of them actually had medical signs of improvement that could be documented and shown.

while watching this, i was seeing it as a example of psychic energy healing someone?

Huh...is that why Duck Soup is one of their most popular movies?

Could also explain why this is one of my favorite jokes:

A duck walks into a corner store and says "ya got any grapes"

The clerk says "no we don't sell grapes". So the Duck leaves.

The next day, the duck walks in "you got any grapes?" he asks.

"Uhh no, we don't sell grapes" says the clerk again.

The following day the duck returns, "you got any grapes"

"NO! And if you come in again, and ask for grapes I am going to nail your webbed feet to the floor"

The duck leaves, but he returns the next day.

"You got any nails?"

The confused clerk says, "No"

So the duck says, "Good, you got any grapes?"

HEE HEE, I love that joke, so lame, and yet so funny. I think it is the duck. Tho a penguin would put me in stiches too.

DUH!

They should have come and talked to me first before they wasted their time. I knew the whole shoe size thing was a joke when I was going out with one of my first boyfriends...he was 6-6 and had a size 16 shoe. I must say, virgin me was a tad worried about the *ahem* size issue.

Upon further investigation, I realized I had NOTHING to worry about, and that this was infact an old wives tale...

Upon even more investigation I realized this guy was a psycho and I needed to hold on to my virginity a bit longer...hahaha!

I am an animal person. They are all pretty cool. Except snakes, OH LORDY DO I HATE SNAKES!

I have had cats and dogs, and horses, and rabbits, we even had a pig for a while, but we ate him...mmmm pig!

I guess I love the compaionship of dogs. Just the dumb goofy quality they bring into our lives, but I love the quite complacent companionship cats can bring to your life...

If I have to pick, I probably lean more towards cats than I do dogs...maybe, I think, I dunno!

Lets blame the belief system

i've just been reading a post about elders, and how the 'belief system' is the blame.

talk about an extension of jwism.. "but the woman you gave me".. each and every jw that told lies at someone's door, actually "told lies at someone's door".

simple as that.

Those of us who were "born into" this religion seemed to have no choice but to stick it out until we were of age to evaluate it critically and make it on our own without our families.

And even then, sometimes pressure from family friends makes it impossible to leave for some, even tho they are quite aware that it is NOT the truth.

I think the dubs are very good at positing guilt on those who leave the flock. So are we to guilt these people even more because they unknowingly spread lies, at the time they embraced whole souled? That doesn't seem fair to me. A lot of people here are still dealing with HUGE guilt issues. I happen to be one of them. While I see your point Paduan, I don't feel your thread is very constuctive. Sorry.

i was listening today to the jimmy young show on radio 2. apart from the fact that jimmy young wasn't present, the show followed it's usual pattern of righteous indignation against teenagers, asylum seekers, unmarried young mothers and the unemployed.. todays topic was sex education.. how old should children be before they know about sex?

or should i say, be told all about sex?.

i could't believe what i was hearing.
