you aren't going to have much success at something if you hate it and I didn't know anyone other than my mother who enjoyed it.

i hated service, hated getting up early, hated wearing dresses/skirts,hated bugging people early on the weekend, hated "preparing" for service (all i did was read the little blurb on the inside of the awake lol) hated being grouped with elder ihatecoffeebreaks and sister letsdoonemoredooreventhoughits12.......one day brother ihatecoffeebreaks asked me why my time was dropping in service and i said "because i hate service" ( i mean i was taught to be honest right?

you continue to impress me. amazing that we got baptized almost 30 years apart to the day.
i have agonized over my decision to go and let them disfellowship rather than to lie about starting my life as a gay man and just moving away and doing it.
you are right that you lose those people anyway whether you DA or fade. you have to be you. i am still fighting to do that now at almost 50.
you are getting a jump on it by doing it at 18. don't stop with leaving the witnesses, follow your bliss. think out your path and start on it
ASAP. i don't think i need to tell you this. you're a helluva lot more centered and courageous than i was at 18. i hope i get to meet you
some day. come to atlanta, i'll show you around and i swear, no inappropriate touching.

i've always felt there were different levels of truth
universal truths like gravity
cultural truths that determine with great probability how groups will react to specific stimuli
individual truths that we inherently know about ourselves that govern how we live and interact with others
i also think we all have an inborn sense of reality about the world we live on.

anyone here ever go on a cruise with a large group of JW's?
by PaNiCAtTaCk inive been on two cruises in the early 90's with large amounts of witnesses.
one cruise we had around 85 and the other 175. one night on the larger jw cruise there were 50 or so of us watching this comedian.
he started getting a little crude using words like penis so we all got up at the same time and walked out during his act.

there was this one time at band camp, i mean at the international assembly in 1978 in new orleans.
we were in our room and these 2 guys from new hampshire came over because they knew one of my roommates and one of them was very my type and i don't remember how it started but we ended up doing this fake hugging body rubbing thing and i became very uh excited and then i backed off but i so bet that he would have done it with me. he was damn cute.
arrrggh, phooey.

knowing this allows you to dismiss a large amount of input as irrelevant to you and your life and allows you to concentrate on the things that you yourself have found to be true and beneficial for yourself, your happiness and your well being.

im so glad i made it, but in the same time i have remorses, but thats a phenomenon called homeostasis, the mind try to take things to normal...
