  wearing a red shirt and khaki pants, he ran around waving a white towel above his head, a police officer tasered him.

  I know its rare, but tasers have killed people. It makes them a dangerous weapon in my opinion. Less dangerous than a gun, and I agree that in a dangerous situation they are justifiable.

  But for this?

  Can you imagine the outcry and injustice if the kid just happened to be one of those rare instances where the tazer killed?

  to pair the word hate with christian, would really be foriegn to the hearer of that combination of words, wouldn't it?

  i was thinking about the fact that we have these jw-trolls here on jwn, and on most of the xjw sites.

  You made your point, Jeff. I was trying to find a way to counter it, since I felt argumentative this morning, but just couldn't manage it.

  Maybe I was too tired, also.

  I don't think tolerance and integrity are the same thing.

  n. 1. Steadfast adherence to a strict moral or ethical code. 2. The state of being unimpaired; soundness. 3. The quality or condition of being whole or undivided; completeness.

  Personal integrity seems to be adhering to your subscribed moral code. If your moral code approves of intolerance of other belief systems, then the JW's personal integrity is just as intact as someone who believes in and allows tolerance.

  What is your concept of God?

  given that the god of the old testament & the new testament don't seem to match up, and our first impression of god may be based on our parents, and the many progressive christian religions that stress god's love and grace, we probably all have completely different ideas of who god is; if he/she does exist.

  i always thought god was a strict, bad-tempered kill-joy..

  I base my concept of God on the teachings and example of Jesus. So I think that God is just, forgiving, merciful and loving. I do not rule out the strict, but I believe that it is tempered with grace and understanding.

  england is the oldest nation-state in europe.

  it is a pround and historic nation that is often buried under a "british" identity by the uk government.

  within the european unon, scotland and wales are treated as regional entities, yet england is broken up into 6 regions and is not acknowledged as an entity in itself.

  Chinese R allowed only one child. If it is female they have to abort it. What do JW's do?

  i have always wondered what jws do if they get pregnant with a girl.

  do they abort the fetus like the government tells them to do?

  or does the society forbid married couples in china to have sex?

  First - It is my understanding that certain couples in China choose to abort a female fetus because they want their one child to be male.

  Second - they can and do have more than one child, but they lose all the incentives and bonuses that come with having only one child, hence they may choose to abort a female fetus.

  So its not really an issue of what is governmentally mandated.

  Apparently, I'm going to fight with my husband. He has 'mother' issues, and rightfully so, and that leads to conflicting emotions for him on this day. He always plans to do something nice; and yet we always seem to have a fight instead. I think he just wakes up angry because mother's day makes him think of his mother, and I wake up expecting him to be in a bad mood - I think a fight is kind of inevitable under the circumstances we've set for ourselves.

  He'd also think I'm moronic for psychoanalyzing :)

  Sigh. Life. He'll still end up making sure that I get my spa day next week, instead.
