just thought i would introduce myself, as it seems a bit rude not to.
this, in a nut shell, is my story.. i was a third generation witness and i did all the normal stuff we were expected to do.
left school early, pioneered, went to bethel, ms and all that palava.

I'm glad you were able to move on with your life...the pain does get easier to deal with as time go on. I used to be embarrased to admit I was a JW. Now I freely admit it..so as to warn others.

i just finished reading "captives of a concept" i thought it was a terrific book.
has any one had any success studying the history with a jw?.
The last JW's that came to my door, I asked if before we started the study in their book, If they would show me where they started from. She said, "What do you mean?" I said, "What group did you break off from? Your history? How did the JW's get started?" She said, "She wasn't there for that, only to offer a bible study." I said, "Then can we use just the bible?" She said, "No, we have a book and a format to follow"
I said "I'd think about it." but......She never came back.

i know my tale for today that i am about to spin is not at all a "bad day" in comparison to what many of you are going through on a daily basis.
please don't think by posting today's story that i am minimizing your day.
that is..if you can get through the long post...lol......no animals were harmed in the making of this day.. today is a school day.

so you're watching some tv and you get the munchies for a cheese sandwich.
you could sit there trying work out if there's any cheddar left in your fridge, perhaps trying to recall when you last bought any and how much has been eaten since then.
or, you could get off your ass, open the fridge and have a look.. if you don't see any cheese after a cursory look, you could empty the fridge to make a thorough examination.
a web site called jehovah-witness.net where x-jw's and jw's who pretend to be jw's come to chat about how bad jehovah witnesses are and how they brain washed them etc, would it not be more productive to move on and forget than to let something most of you obviously hate take so much of your time and effort.. for some being a jw is about not being part of the world, what other religion is there that is as moral as a jw.
i am d'fed but i belive that jw's are the true religion.
sure some of them can be self righteous pricks but there imperfect just like anyone else,we all need to focus on us and not worry about what there doing because we can't change them.. .
i was at a local laundry mat this past sunday and i found an awake from 1995 and a watchtower from 1989. i was amazed at how old these magazines were.
back in my day, the magazines i left behind were rarely over a year old, let alone 20. i have noticed this a lot lately and am wondering where all of these old magazines are coming from.
as i stated on a post a while back, i was in a laundry mat some time ago and i heard a man say "why are you looking forward to 1975?
I keep stickers in my purse for such occasions.
I have three different one:
A big one that says "Example of Cult Propganda"
and two smaller ones. One says, "Questions about Jehovah's Witnesses breaking up families? Call 1-800-WHY-1914 Toll Free Help Available"
and my favorite: "Protect Jehovah's Witnesses Children from Sexual Abuse...see: www.silentlambs.org"
The local laundry mat...the one next to my favorite Chinese Food, used to have mags. all the time. But since I started my sticker campaign, I haven't seen them there in the last 3 years, I don't know if the JW's quit leaving them, or the Laundry May owners started throwing them out.

i have been reading your posts the last couple of weeks and wanted to post and talk to all of you and at last i can.. first i am (or was)a unbaptised publisher but have jw daughter (really into it)and jw granddaughters and df son in law(for smoking).. i studied for 2 yrs and tried field service(hated hated hated it).anyway reading your posts helped me to make the decison that.
i just couldn't go on going to meetings even to be with my grandchildren(who i love dearly)and living a lie.

The nekkidness was a result of being drunk and then Ham disrespected his dad by not covering him up but instead going and blabbing about it - I reckon that behaviour would even merit a good ass-kicking today unless your dad wasn't someone whose honour was worth defending!
If you get drunk and nekkid in front of your kids...it ridiculous to expect them to respect your honour.
