I was doing some WT reading , you know…to see what my “bro and sis” will be studying this Sunday. I was reading the Spanish version and found a new term on paragraph 19 “superintendentes itinerantes”, I thought, why “superintendentes itinerantes” as opposed to “superintendentes viajante”? as the latter is the title by which traveling overseers are called in Spanish…well, I thought…maybe all those rumors about the end of the C.O arrangement are trueafter all. I got excited thinking that I was going to “call it first” on this forum. So I decided to check up the English WT just to see what was the English version of the new term, I was expecting to see “itinerant overseer”…but I found the same, go’ol “traveling elder” which…I think still applies to “traveling overseer” or “circuit overseer”. Boomer! But wait…there was something that jump right in front of my eyes. Notice the difference:
The WT English version paragraph 19: “They went on to serve as members of the governing body , as missionaries, and as traveling elders, and they played a key role in preaching the good news…”
The WT Spanish version paragraph 19: “incluso llegaron a ser miembros del Cuerpo Gobernante, misioneros y superintendentes itinerantes…”
Why “governing body ” in lower case for the English speaking JW, but “Governing Body” in upper case for the Spanish speaking JW?
Lost in translation? Or a deliberate attempt to tame down the “claim of authority” to the English speaking JW, while maintaining the authoritative langue for the “submissive” and “obedient” Spanish speaking JW?
Is this another case of “double standards” by the WT?
What’s your opinion?

How it happened....
by AK - Jeff ini was reflecting today on just how it happened.
how did i, a man who believed himself to be a clean worshiper of the most holy god, have a crisis of faith that resulted in my current state of affairs?
how did i get here, when i was not sure even which way the wind was about to blow me?.

Find refreshment in spiritual things - this weeks tower.
by Cook My Socks UK ini just thought that i would share an observation regarding par 3 of this weeks wt study.
the paragraph says in part " jehovah's witnesses find genuine refreshment through up building christian fellowship".. .
i am wondering if any readers / posters on this forum that still do or used to attend meetings have any thoughts on this.

Interesting quote on leadership - what do you think re: the Governing Body?
by sir82 intoday i read a newspaper columnist who wrote something that caught my attention:.
"...obedience is a natural response to effective leadership, and this is true regardless of whether the people being led are adults or children.".
now, think about the gb.. virtually every wt "study edition" contains at least one, if not several, reminders about how we should "obey the gb".. dozens of the songs in the new song book extol how worthy of obedience & devotion the gb is.. each assembly & convention features dozens of reminders on how important it is to be obedient & submissive to the gb.. service meeting parts routinely offer "loving reminders" of how jws should obey the gb re: conventions, literature, donations, etc.. .

They posture authority because they know that, biblically speaking, they have none.
P.S.
I once asked my wife, what will make you leave the organization? She responded, “I would “consider” leaving the org. if I see that the Governing Body I demanding more obedience and submission to their leadership”. They are doing just that more and more, she sees it now, and the GB is actually helping me to leave the organization with my wife. So, I hope they keep going obedience crazy in the next few months and years.
I think the turning point for her was that WT study about not embracing your mate during prayer, and the new songs….that did it.

How do I tell my elderly JW mother that...?
by onemore inmy wife asked me last night: how do i tell my mother that we have been living a lie?
then she said: she is in her 70s, all of her friends are jws, she has a routine, things to do that keeps her busy every day, field service, meetings, visiting her jw friends, assemblies, etc.
why spoil that to her?

Thank you all for your kind responses.
I’m inclined towards suggesting to my wife to leave her mother alone and step in only if she’s being really hurt by the WT’s policies; but that at one point we will have to address with her our “inactivity” and disillusion with the organization. The downside to this is that she’ll represent the only thing fully attaching my wife and I to the WT organization, and it looks like she is going to be around for another 20 to 30 years… (And I really want to move on and don’t plan to live a lie or in hiding for that long).
The WT has done at great job at creating a system that virtually makes impossible to leave the organization without some serious collateral damage. Just as I was making progress in leaving together with my wife and basically achieving a clean fade (which has taken a lot of energy from me)…this new development comes along. I’m trying to see it as a small set back (so that I don’t lose my focus), which gives me more reasons to really really hate the culture of this abusive cultish religion.
Again, thank you all for all your good comments and suggestion, once again you are being of great help in this journey.
