Because I want her not to feel like it will hurt my feelings to exchange it I want to keep it simple like this. I am just wondering if this is enough stone or if I am going cheap? Ladies your brutually honest opinion please.

Need help picking an engagement ring
by Cagefighter inladies please weigh in.... i am seriously thinking about buying an engagment this summer.
first, we are both early 30's make about the same roughly (50k) a year.. i am thinking getting a decent quality diamond .90 carat on a platinum ring... seems to be about $3800-4500k price wise.. please be honest..... i saw the ring her x gave her.. it was yellow gold with a white gold top where some side stones were and a .66 to center stone was set that was a "gift".
granted she picked it out.. 1. my ring must be way better than the one her x gave her.. 2. i won't propose without a ring so taking her to pick on out is not an option.

Is it common to push the limits but staying on the safe side?
by dgp ini imagine that all the stress and demands a jehovah's witness has to withstand, plus the always-present fear that they can never be sure they are actually going to be spared at armageddon, eventually force the person to wonder whether it is really worth it.
it would be something like "i don't know if i will be spared.
why don't i push the limits to the very end, so i can have more of a normal life, and yet technically be on the safe side?".

That was my attitude when I believed. I thought thats why were spent so much time calculating the date. So we could party it up and get back in good at the end.

Part of the reason I feel like such a Bastard is that I used to have them too and forgot. I got them in my early 20's. Used to feel like a heart attack with vertigo.... I can't believe I called her "mentally insane" the other night. Fortunately we made up last night :)

My story and help needed.
by frigginconfused ini have been posting here and there for a few weeks but never introduced myself.
i will do that now because i really am in bad shape and in need of someone to listen.. i was raised in new york in the projects during the crack boom in the 80's.
my dad was an abusive drunk non believer and my mom dragged us to meetings.

Dude, find another group of believers that are doing things that you can support and join up. The JW's poision you to think no one else can do anything good. You haven't drank that poision yet thank God.
I visited many churches till I found a great non-denominational. We drill water wells in the Sudan, have a free clinic on the bad side of town, have lots of activities for single parents and youths.... It's what a chrisitian community should be and I dig it... You will find a place if you keep looking and throw yourself head first into it once you find a place you are comfortable with.
I also think a good part of your problem is stress too... Thank you for your service. You have had a lot of changes in life. Divorce, deployment, coming home. It's natural to be looking for answers just don't stress out if it takes a while to find them. That is part of the journey my friend.

I wasnt' offeneded by Outlaw I thought it was funny....
We spent the whole evening talking last night and got close again. She has had professional help and even hospitalization (before I met her) and she has come along way. She is very self aware of what is going on and where she is at in the process. Thanks again to all of you for all your help.

30 minute C.O. talk against the phrase "Take It Easy"
by lepermessiah inmy buddy and i were recalling some of the worst talks we ever heard.. one classic we remembered was one by a new c.o., who gave this talk on his first visit.. the guy was an arrogant tool, and he thought he was the voice of god.. we couldnt remember the title, but all we remember was a 30 minute rant against the phrase "take it easy".
we thought it was supposed to be talk encouraging pioneering, but it quickly took a turn for the worse....... "we often hear worldly people use the phrase "take it easy" - as christians, we do not take it easy!".
"we should never hear the phrase "take it easy" here at the kingdom hall".

Usually if it's easy and I got the energy, I'll take it twice.

Are there any decent arguments for God's existence which do not fall prey to the argument from ignorance fallacy? (i.e. God of the gaps)
by Psychotic Parrot ingod of the gaps arguments are simply not convincing, god is no more likely to be the correct gap filler than anything else, in any case where god is squeezed into a gap, we could easily just fill it with (for example) a committee of eternally existing physical lifeforms, god is no more plausible than they are as an explanation.
as for the arguments themselves:.
the cosmological argument = god of the gaps: we think (though we are not certain) that the universe had a beginning, it was probably the big bang, the big bang needed a cause.

PP,
I see now, well I respect your intellectually honest challenge to prove God's existence. Although I do believe in God, I am the first to admit I have no way to definitley prove he is up there. So in my mind faith is one more juicy lil thing like love, music, and playing Xbox that might be a complete waste of time but somehow makes me very happy and enjoy my life.
