Any Texas Lawyers in the House (or anyone else)? Need advice
by TheClarinetist ini'm too stressed out right now to write this as anything more than what basically amounts to a series of bulletin points, but here goes anyway.. girlfriend burned down kitchen.. landlord wants money for repairs (obviously, no issue there) by december 5th.. landlord is attempting to apply security deposit to repairs in order to force us to pay all repair money within the next 10 days (over $1600) per the lease.
is that legal without our permission?
also, can she make us pay before she's paid anything?.

In short you are responsible, but not until the landlord actuall does and pays for the repairs. Document the damage incase the charges are unreasonable. I am in Texas and used to work in the apartment biz. Check your PM, I can give you better details.

Are you in England? Is "borrowing" alcohol common? This is kind of funny.
It is a trust thing and while it might not bother some people it might bother others. I would consider it out of line to "borrow" something with out asking or being offered to "make myself at home" at first. Even then, I would consider that to me, taking a crap or watching some TV, not raiding the liqour cabinet.
It's kind of like kissing your best friend's wife. He might be into it or he might not, either way best to find out by asking than the other way.

My observation, the "threefold cord" actually weakens a marriage
by Robert7 inso my wife and i survived leaving the jw faith together over the course of the last 4 years.
it was a wild ride for our relationship, but thankfully we are stronger than ever.
so looking back, here is my observation about the "threefold cord", at least the jw version of it.. i believe the idea of the threefold cord actually weakens a marriage, keeping it less mature.

From what I have seen JW marriages have a lot to do with obligation and co-dependency. Even as a kid seemed like the couples where one mate was "non-believing" were much happier and solid. The other spouse (usually a male) would just kindly respect his JW wife's beliefs because he loved her,, not because he agreed. Obviously, the wife would feel more "loved" than most women in the KH.
That's not to say that JW marriages can not evolve.
People in and our of "da troof" get into relationships for all kinds of reasons.
Glad you and your wife are doing well.
The concept of three cords is good when that third cord is purpose and faith, not allegiance to a man made organization.

How did plants survive the Flood?
by dgp innoah is not said to have carried plants in his ark.
supposedly the flood was severe enough to cover "even the tallest mountains", which would mean that mount everest was covered.
and this for forty days.

Pretty neat theory Steve2 but that sounds more like an evolutional hypothesis. By "germ" I assume you main a single celled form of bacteria or a virus. For a virus or bacteria to turn into a relatively complex seed in 40 days and 40 nights would be like my old rotary dial telephone turning into an iphone.

Cyberjesus, I used the word "belief" on purpose as in mine, as in subjective. I am not sure what a BCBS means, but I am guessing it did not require much reading. Funny, how this thread has just become bait into suckering me into defending my faith. Faith is not logical and is based on subjective thought, I never deny that.
