every since amanda moved out i have been surviving on one income, and lately i have been strapped for cash.
my bills are behind, my credit cards are behind, needless to say im broke.

I would only cash it if you have no intention of paying it back. Take the free money. But if your going to do that then don't pay your credit cards with them. I would just stop answering the phone and let your cards charge off if you are really in bad shape. Ofcourse I live in Texas where no one can garnish your wages or will even bother suing you unless it's AMEX.
Sounds very predatory, they buy your CC info from credit card companies. Grab a card application and look at the fine print. The Check Scam people got your info from the CC company because you are behind. They know people getting hounded by bill collectors are likely to cash a 3k check.

My best friend as a kid (we grew up in the same KH) died suddenly at 18. I had already decided I was on my way out, but was still living at home. It's hard to even think about today how upset I was that my friend was gone at such a young age. At the graveside I was inconsolable mostly because of this BULLSH*T of a funeral talk. It was disrespectful and my friend deserved a lot more. He was a great guy. I would never call myself a JW after that day for any reason. Never went to a meeting again after that.

How long did Conventions used to be?
by donuthole ini remember as a child in the 1980's attending four day conventions.
i know in the past conventions were even longer.
does anyone know how long they use to last and the approximate years?

I am too young to remember the week long conventions, but I do remember them being referred to often. My recollection of the tone they were referred to was that the convention was the JW equivalent of family vacation, hence the week long affair. I guess they figured letting you camp in a tent a cut fruit was just to make you feel more like you were on vacation.
Maybe they should go back to week long conventions. Thay would empty the Halls. Most people don't even get a vacation anymore.

not just their religon, they have to be in the know and correct about everything.
cannot bear to be told they are wrong.. i reckon its that jw superiority complex " i'm right and if you don't agree well god will shortly kill you and i'l get your house!".

What exactly are men at the back of the hall taking care of?
by howdidtihappen inonce people have come in, and the doorman and the mic men are in place, why are there a few other suits scattered about at the back?
i saw a guy get up, sit down, get up, sit down, get up and when i looked what he was up to he was reading the noticeboard and looking around, waiting for a bus.
i figured he wasn't doing much at that point, but anything to not stay seated.

Anything, you do anything to keep from falling asleep. Worked all day, got home just in time to scarf down some food while your wife gets the kids ready. Rush to the Hall, say hello, sing a song. Sit down, monotonous crap you have heard a million times becomes a lullaby at this point in your day. You do ANYTHING to keep from falling asleep.
