Easy. Anyone in authority can be called God. The term identifies no one specifically but simply identifies persons in authority such as Moses, David, the Kings of Israel and it's Prophets. You will find all such persons called God in scripture. However when the term is used regarding them it is not used in the context of Supreme Being or true God. This has always been true and our Lord used this fact in His behalf when the Jews who misunderstood His words and though that He was making Himself God tried to stone him.

33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God. 34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? 35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken; 36 Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?

The Jews were wrong but even so Jesus was their creator and can properly be called God to all mankind for such reasons. The scriptural examples used demonstrated such use of this term to them therefore they had no basis for stoning Him.

The bible says there are three who bear witness in heaven. The Father, the son, and the Holy spirit, and that they are one. What is confusing about that? The JW's are the only one's making a person believe that it's a concept too confusing. The bible is very clear, no stalemate here.

Actually the Bible does not say this. Only some translations render the text in this way but most do not. The NIVUS renders 1 John 5:7,8 like this:

7 For there are {A} three that testify:

8 the {7,8 Late manuscripts of the Vulgate <testify in heaven: the Father, the Word and the Holy Spirit, and these three are one. 8 And there are three that testify on earth: the> (not found in any Greek manuscript before the sixteenth century)} Spirit, the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement.

But it makes no difference really as the words Holy Spirit are used to represent the Faith here on earth and the truth they stand for. Naturally we would expect the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit to be one and united regarding such truth. But we do not expect them to be one BEING which is an entirely different matter. The context of the text is about a witness a testimony regarding our Lords sacrifice and not about entities like People or Beings. If we read verse 6 which introduced these verses we would have noticed that truth is under discussion not Persons or Beings.

6 This is the one who came by water and blood Jesus Christ. He did not come by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth.

So in all reality John is simply discussing the dedication and sacrifice of our Lord Jesus, the central theme of Christianity, to which all involved in the faith agree not the liteal nature of the Supreme Being.

Frankly I don't see anything wrong with baptizing them yourself just as Jesus directed and as was the custom for family heads in the 1st Century. (Does sound a bit 'Ned Flanders' though doesn't it?)

No problem. This is not only proper but a natural function of the faith. It is not the WT's business it is a function of your dedication and ministry not theirs.

False. Jehovah God is not dealing with anyone at present. He has left all this to His Son. And this Son appointed Paul an individual to be his 12 Apostle personally. This appointment cancelled out the apostles attempt to appoint Mathias as such. They exceeded their authority when they acted in His behalf and our Lord corrected their error personally, the only way it could be done. He deals with individuals even as Paul did during his ministry.

WT statement: He does not feed each one individually nor does he appoint an individual over them.

False. His Son fed Paul individually and was appointed by him over the faith.

WT statement: No individual student of Gods Word reveals Gods will or interprets His Word. (2 Pet. 1:20, 21)

False. It is the responsibility in fact for each disciple to discern what the truth is and to be responsible for what they teach. The problem is not with the prophecies given under inspiration and recorded in scripture as the verses quoted show. The problem is with the ones that interpret such prophecies and so the next verse that is not quoted in this WT article brings this point out:

1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.

The individual therefore must penetrate the lies such false prophets are spreading. This is the point that is being brought home by Peter. John had the same problem and said:

1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

Therefore we are actually obligated to try the spirits (people that profess to serve God) and not accept their teachings as the revealed word of God. This is really what the scriptures teach.

WT statement: God interprets and teaches, through Christ the Chief Servant, who in turn uses the discreet slave as the visible channel, the visible theocratic organization.

False. The slave consists of dedicated individuals not yet identified since our Lord has not yet returned or come to select them. This He will do when He resurrects or changes them and brings them into His Kingdom. So the WT by its own admission is lying and has always lied about the identity of this slave as shown.

And it goes on and on like this throughout the article. Hardly a sentence will stand the test of truth.

This may well be but not always avoidable. After all things were not much different then. So John not only identifies such by name but wrote:

3 John 9 I wrote unto the church: but Diotrephes, who loveth to have the preeminence among them, receiveth us not. 10 Wherefore, if I come, I will remember his deeds which he doeth, prating against us with malicious words: and not content therewith, neither doth he himself receive the brethren, and forbiddeth them that would, and casteth them out of the church. 11 Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.

Good information therefore protects us against men such as Diotrephes. That is the other side of this argument. It is our responsibility therefore to determine who doeth evil for our own protection. So lets deal with real data not opinions or personality. It is in our best interest to determine who doeth Good and is of God before casting anyone out of the church.

Hello waiting,

No need to take a back seat to men. After all we teach that women are equal to men in the faith and have taken a lot of flack for that position. We are after all disciples of the same Lord and Savior and no one should be viewed as inferior due to such gender. We all will be judged according to our deeds and not the deeds (and teaching) of others so we are both free to speak up in the interest of Christ. No! We do not have a middle ground to stand on. There was no middle ground on the Law in the days of the apostles even though some attempted to create one for Gentiles. There is no middle ground when it comes to Antichrist or the man of Lawlessness. They are what they are based upon what they teach. So now is as good a time as any to get such things out in the open

You're premise is wrong. It's not that Franz or Bowen is totally wrong on anything. It's probably more likely, neither man is totally right on anything.

Amen to that. It has been proven here on this board from scripture and by the Watchtowers own literature that the two witness rule does not apply to criminal cases such as child abuse. So if anyone Franz, Bowen or anyone else ever used it in such cases or teach others to do it they were wrong. If they were in position of authority and failed to correct it they were wrong. If anyone is still using it that way then they are wrong. What we need to hear now are positive statements not assumptions as to what position is held by who at present. Does anyone know who supports which view today?

It has also been proven here on this board and on other boards that the Watchtower does not represent Gods exclusive channel of communication to mankind. Most now know that the bread and wine should be partaken of by everyone dedicated to Christ as a disciple. Our Lord was not executed on Nisan 14 but on Nisan 20. There was no Governing Body in Jerusalem but the Apostles and Disciples that resided there in that city still kept the Law abused the faith and caused disciples everywhere much grief against which the apostle Paul constantly fought. The faithful and discreet slave has not yet been selected or appointed. Their 2520 year Gentile Times teaching is false. Then again we have learned that blood transfusions do not violate scripture but was an attempt by James to force blood and other features of the Law on Gentiles. Watchtower doctrine on salvation is twisted beyond recognition. Perhaps a hundred or more other doctrines and teachings of the Watchtower have fallen here so then what is the present understanding of such men as Franz and Bowen? Our function and responsibility in the faith is to support the teachings of Christ and not the teachings of any man. So if we are to lend our support to either one we should at least know where they stand on such truth? I once supported the Watchtower lies here described. I was ignorant and mislead to be sure. I was wrong and am sorry for it. Both of these men did the same for a long time and are now sorry for it as well. Of this there is no doubt. But are they willing to do what needs to be done to correct such views and the damage done by them in the interest of Christ? And are they willing to take and active role in exposing such wrongdoing now that they know the truth of such matters? That is the question that I want to know. The rest will take care of itself.

Hi Dutchie,

Well cheese is largely fat so that is not a good idea. We have rivers heavily contaminated with mercury around here so I knew mercury in fish for some time. And we have hunters that like deer meat and they sometimes read high for radioactive materials when scanned in our whole body counters at a nuclear site where employees are routinely monitored. So that is a problem as well. I guess if we eat a variety of food things will balance out. And fish oil capsules (Omega 3) serve the same purpose as eating fish. So that is an alternative. If you decide to change to peanut butter and jelly sandwiches consider making your own peanut butter out of Almonds. They contain good cholesterol and are better for you than most peanut butters.

Preaching the kingdom or what?

i was at the meeting on sunday and one brother mentioned how jws are heeding the scripture at matthew 24:14, you know, about the kingdom being preached, and he said how in every corner of the world jws are now found and it's a fulfillment of the scripture.

then the thought struck me that if that were true, then when people think of jws they should think "god's kingdom".

not in my experience, as when going from door to door or what colleagues at work have said.

Hi Mr Bean,

There is one other problem that the WT has in preaching the Good News of the Kingdom. You see they do not know what this good news is and have never preached it as a result. Their doctrine on the kingdom is wrong a lie in fact not supported by scripture. They know this as many have written them about it and they choose to teach the lie instead of correcting it. So if their message is not truth how can they be fulfilling this prophecy regarding it?

Yes! I know exactly what they are doing. Nothing. They are dead, kaput, finished rotting corpses and have gone nowhere other than the crypt in which they have been interned. Their doctrine of going to heaven never was truth and no one can make a case for any human going there other than Jesus. The Watchtower phoney arguments do not work and no one on this board can use scripture to prove it either. It is that simple.
