Death was always part of the animal kingdom. How could you tell someone if they ate the fruit they would die and it mean anything unless they knew death. Where did they get the animal skins when they were naked?

To the theists: Your reaction if God hypothetically changed the standards of right and wrong
by simon17 ini have more to say on this and its implications, but i'll keep this short to get some initial discussion.
to those that believe in god, suppose he were to hypothetically change various standards of right and wrong, suppose with the new scrolls to be opened.
things such as rape, theft and immorality are now perfectly fine and acceptable.

God is love. Plain and simple. Its man that has this whole thing complicated.

The Soul
by free2beme inso we were all taught basically this thought.
the soul is our life, not seperate and not something that moves on when we die, right?
yet, for those who die and get ressurected, jehovah remembers them and makes them come to life with their memories, personalities, appearance and so on, right?

factfinder I like your viewpoint. Like 2 brand new laptops. Exactly the same model. You can wirelessley send out a program from one and destroy it and run the second just the same as the first.

Its a question of time. Youre assuming time passes while youre dead. Hundreds of years may pass before your resurected. In that case you would have a problem.
Consider this... Youre dealing with a being that is no way connected to time. When you enter that stream you dont need to store the soul. You die and seconds later if not instantly you wake up in the new system. No time passes from your perspective. Only your friends and loved ones will be aware that years might have passed.
If you believe in the resurection and new system this fixes the problem.

Why JW's Continue to Survive
by Poztate insome may fall away or slink off to something new, but when your worldview is apocalyptic in nature, a failed doomsday doesnt leave you easily shaken, he says.. instead, what religious people generally do, he says, is write off the end-that-wasnt as an interpretation hiccup.
with deeper study and prayer, theyll be lucky enough to find another doomsday around the corner.. although this comment was not directed at jw's but apocalyptic religions in general it really does fit their world viewpoint perfectly..

The Jw's dont continue to survive. Its just we are short sighted as we only live under 100 years. The JW's were here already. They were called puritans. They were on this earth longer than the JW's. And where are they now?

The Most Important Witness Meeting Is...
by metatron inthe theocratic ministry school..... well, let's see ... it's conducted by an elder who's stuck with the job and often doesn't want it.
the quality of the meeting keeps sinking over time as witlesses can't read well or explain more than a couple proof texts.
the "ministry" doesn't generate converts by itself, anyway..... the book study?

For me it was the closing prayer.

If I saw direct evidence on a worldwide scale that God is with these people I would return.
Its why I stay on the outskirts of the religion. Im fairly convinced that as of right now they are not Gods org. But to be closed off to it would be closing myself off to possible truth. Im open to anything. But not even something the scale of the Nazis attacking them like they did in wwII would do it. Im talking major definative proof. Dont ask me what. I would know it if I saw it. And I dont see it anytime soon.

What Are They Doing In Heaven Today?
by snowbird incharles albert tindley wrote this song; washington phillips recorded it.. blue bell ice cream used it in one of their commercials.. you can find the lyrics by googling the title.. my mother used to sing it on rare days when she wasn't screaming and hollering about something.. i don't know what they're doing in heaven, but i would like to know what you are doing right now.. i'm at work, answering the phone lines, clearing out dead files, eating oatmeal, and posting (obviously).. syl.
