LMFAO @ OBVES!!! You just made my day.
Just when I think someone couldn't sound any more ridiculous, along comes OBVES.
ROFL!
"we don't live for dates".
i have heard this a lot in my lifetime when witnesses get approached with any critical thinking of the 1914 year date.. this sounds good, at face value, but it's so disconcerting to hear them minimize this date when they will jump all over it as "proof" of their organization's divinity.. without dates such as 1914 societies like the watchtower simply would not exist.
the watchtower needed these dates to anticipate and use as selling points.. remember, before 1914 there were not very many witnesses.

quote:a flight attendant and cancer survivor has revealed her horror at being forced to show her prosthetic breast to a security agent during a pat-down at charlotte douglas international airport.. .
cathy bossi from south charlotte has been a flight attendant for over 30 years and has worked for u.s. airways for the past 28 years.. .
she said she was asked to go through the full body-scanners at the airport in early august which she was reluctant to do because of fears of the radiation from the machine passing through her body.. .
That's so sad and aggrivating at the same time.
This 'upgrade' in security is really going to push people into a furor and it won't stop until it changes for the better.
18 if you face a similar situation, please remember that jehovah sympathizes with you.
by cutting off contact with the disfellowshipped or disassociated one, you are showing that you hate the attitudes and actions that led to that outcome.
however, you are also showing that you love the wrongdoer enough to do what is best for him or her.
This topic makes my blood boil. I am not a hateful person, but this just brings out the hate and rage that I have locked away for the Organization™. The damage that shunning does to the persons psyche is unbelievable, inhumane and disgusting.
The WTS is Satan incarnate imo. If you believe in a devil that is...
guys, i have a little time and i wanted some advice.
i really like to be "good" and "super good" in everything i ever do.
i am kinda "perfectionist".
By 'good' do you mean 'bad'? If so, try slaughtering a goat and smearing blood everywhere and chop off it's horns and make them into ritualized cups. Then invite your sister over.
Should scare the shit out of her.
But seriously, you can be 'good', just because she called you an apostate doesn't make you a bad person.
in the february watchtower a word search to the pdf found only two references to "faithful and discreet slave" and zero yes zero to governing body.. not sayin much effort is required to find lottsa goofy stuff, but just surprised.
they must be reading and diseminating this web site..
And there is actually a whole article on obey. But guess what. It is obey Jehovah.
But, I'll bet you it says that it is obey Jehovah THROUGH the FDS/GB right?
i always found that one particularly laughable.. the jw's would always look for plaudits because they don't christen/baptize infants.
as if they are free thinking pioneers of christianity who let their children come to their own conclusions.. no, they don't baptize their children.. yet,.
they would be happy to make a life & death medical choice for them before they are even old enough to think for themselves.they are happy to have their children 'fight the fine fight' on their parents behalf all the way through primary/high school.
They might as well start baptizing infants. Where I live the majority of the baptisms of the past few years have been several children under the age of ten. One was 6, another 7, 9 and 10. That's not including the two that were 12-14.
Tell me what 6 year old is old enough to make that kind of life decision? Hell, any 'child' under 18. You're not even a LEGAL adult under that age. What makes them think that it's okay for someone underage to dedicate their life to something they have been pushed from infancy?!
Makes me sick.
monday night.
service meeting.. we're sitting there and my daughter (9-years-old) is sitting between my wife and i. my wife doesn't like it when she sits between us but my kids argue alot.
so we keep two kids at opposite ends and one in the middle.. out of the blue, she taps me on the shoulder and whispers: "daddy, are you an atheist?".
Wow. I'm laughing because it's cute. but I have to ask, what spurred her to ask that in the first place? Has she heard you speak against being a JW or something.
Kids are smarter than we give them credit for.
one night you are driving down a dark road.
another car swerves into your lane and hits you head on.
you wake up days later and discover you are paralyzed.
I agree that there are pro's and con's to disfellowshipping ..for example loud disturbances can't to tolerated at meeting places.
Wait, what? Unruly people should be disfellowshipped? Just ask them to leave, they come back, tell them they are no longer welcome.
There are no pro's or con's to DF'ing. Period. People that commit a crime get sent to prison, but they are not shunned, at least not complete shunning, they still talk to and interact with fellow prisoners. They break a religious rule? Fornicate, sin in some way (read: not commit a crime mind you, I'm just talking basic "sins") then revoke their membership and say have a nice day. But that doesn't mean you treat them like shit.
Treating like someone as the disfellowshipping done by JWs is inhumane. No one should be treated like they do not exist. No one should have to look down or away from another human being because of some stupid religious rules. Animals get more respect than someone shunned, it's wrong.
Someone is a threat to society then do something about it, try him, convict him if found guilty send him to prison or rehab, or counselling. Maybe even the death sentance if they committed an atrocity. But don't treat him like he doesn't exist.
Oh and yes, I'm pretty passionate about this, I've been DF'd twice. Trust me, their is nothing "pro" about it, in fact all it did was train me how the system works and worked the system after getting reinstated the second time. No good came from it.
hi just a quick question.
i know some of you here are stil in kingdom hall.
i am looking for an article in watchtower ( it was a study article) about 5 month ago where they said that we are not to hold hands with our loved ones during prayer time.
When I read that last year I thought, WTF! Now prayer circles always freaked me out, felt like it was a seance or something, but holding hands, wrapping your arms around your mate? Good god man, get over yourselves GB!
a few months ago two jw women caught me unexpectedly, so they talk about the.
usual jw none sense.
the nite before i was reading and researching the nephilim.. more proof to disclaim the flood.
cameo-d, I've never heard of that rendition of Noah's Ark. That sounds pretty far-fetched. Then again, a lot of things stemming from the bible are far-fetched so I'm not surprised.
