"literally useless work"
Really, so true, such "crap"!!!
Mrs. Thor
i'm in a major uk city, and we're assigned to an out of city location for our district convention.. to set the scene this site is off a busy motorway (freeway).
it's a football (soccer) stadium.
there is nothing around aside from one petrol (gas) station which also has a tiny supermarket in it.

Really, so true, such "crap"!!!

in just the several months i've been lurking here, i have benefited from many of the posters comments and viewpoints.
this is truly a special place for the unique community that has been created here.. after years of holding off my exit from the org (that may be another post) i recently became officially out (by letter of da), but it was a very difficult process as many of you know.
thankfully, i now have my wife (was also a witness) onboard and we support each other.
Hello and welcome to you Seventh Sojourn!
Welcome too- to many priceless times ahead for you and your wife!
Mrs. Thor
so i was randomly watching a show on investigation discovery today - the show was called killer next door, and the episode was called murder without motive.. the show is a french-canadian program that has been translated into english, and this particular episode had to do with a homicide that took place in ste-croix-de-lotbiniere, near quebec city, in november 1999 of a young man named victor lemay.. the confessed murderer was his friend, andre roy, then aged 22.. in the year or so that preceded the murder, andre roy had been disfellowshipped from the jws and had, as a result, been kicked out of his parents' home.
he had no social support outside of the jws and had to start making new friends.
the psychologists on the program felt very strongly that the shunning he experienced by the jws in general, and his family in particular, contributed to increasing rage, and that his friend, victor, became a convenient outlet for his rage.
WOW!
Disfellowshipping and shunning=evil
In my opinion, Mrs, Thor
prior to that we had been in a new congregation for about 9 months, and we were just irregular.
my husband rarely went, and i would go occasionally with our toddler son just enough to show our faces and keep the elders off our backs, and for the sake of some friendships in our old hall.
all of the reasons i had for going were just no longer important.
Good post! I can't believe how many have similar problems finding good friends after leaving the Borg. What Now? What state do you live in? Dazeds Better Half I sent you a PM because we also live in Colorado (I know it's a big state) but you never know if we're close to you or not.
If some of the others on this post don't mind, if your in the US, what state do you live in?
Mrs. Thor
so my family has obviously been noticing over the past several months that i've been missing meetings and fs.
i've had excuses sometimes, but not others, so my parents are definitely getting that this is more than a long bout of illnesses or fatigue.
i just received an email invitation to join them in service this weekend.
Hello dissonance_resolved, so sorry for what your going through.
My two cents worth is to be as loving and kind as you can be with them. I also agree with Roberta804 to never put anything in writing and with Wholly and say you just need a little privacy right now to put them off a while. Take your time even in responding to their e-mail.
I hope it goes well for you and your family!!
Mrs. Thor
peacefully after a short bout with leukemia.
she was 88 years old and the foundation of my life.
she will be sadly missed by me and everyone whose lives she has touched.. .
I am very sorry for your loss.
Mrs. Thor
this is very interesting, this guy was a cult member for 37 years.
replace 'william branham' for jw and you can see clearly what a cult really is.
he uses 10 points from steven hassan's book 'combatting cult mind control'.
When our daughter was in her first year of college I enjoyed reading her psychology textbook. In it I was kind of surprised to read things like the definition of a cult, which fit the JW's like a glove. Another interesting thing was how shunning was one of the most cruel things that could be done to a person. Many interesting things to read...She graduated with a minor in psychology as well as another minor and major unrelated.

i am sure that none of you here are rastafarians and neither am i. i have just noticed however that their religious music is soo freaking moving!.
i guess after years of kingdom melodies that had absolutely no form of feeling in them and were pretty much some guy plucking piano keys anything would be better.
but i literally sit here listening to some of these and almost break down crying.. .
Always loved Reggae since the seventies when I discovered Bob Marley!! Good spiritual music!! Too bad I didn't stick with that instead of joining the JW's!! Thankfully the JW chapter of my life is long over and I can always enjoy Reggae!
Peace and Jah Love, Mrs. Thor
it's some kind of funny... i was the perfect little ass, even that i never believe it all.. there was something that doesn't sound right... but, i was little, i was with my family, i never believe that my family will make me adopt a cult.
well i get batized in my mid teen years, i was the exemplar, ms at 19, even serve my time at bethel.
get married to a pioneer, start a spiritual family, get my 2 kids.
Hello and welcome and keep running..........
it is still a wonderful discovery and pleasant surprise to continually keep finding that there are some awesomely *good* people out there in the "world"!.
it's such a neat thing, this (slow, yet very rewarding!
) process of making new, non-jw friends.... i recently had my first meal at the home of one of these new wonderful people we've just met and i just must share this!
Great post Muddy Waters! So true!
I have to say I like BobFlanagan007's too
