"Have you invited an elder over for dinner lately???"
No, but I'd love to have one of them over.

well, it looks like the elder who hoaxed the hall with the letter that you could read about here is screwed:.

it seems as though the hall is up in arms about the whole thing.

i went the other day to give a pint of my own blood for my upcoming surgery............boy oh boy, did i start to feel guilty at first, but then everyone told me what a smart idea it was: the doctors, nurses, family, ex-witness friends, friends at work........it was a piece of cake, so i go again next week to give more.. what is the gbs reasoning on refusing this procedure?
i'm not taking anyone else's blood in to my body; my blood doesn't have to be "poured out" because i'm not frigging dead!!!!.
how many lives could have been saved if they had even said "okay, you can store your own blood.
DJ; I checked out that site you gave me and it looks like there's something in the July 15, 2000 WT which I'll look up........I wonder why it's okay for us to take cow's blood now........maybe they're hoping we'll all get mad cow disease? hahaha.........

my friend called me last night and said that his mother heard a letter read on monday night at her congregation meeting that said that the rank and file should be prepared to be banned, to go underground, and persecution is coming soon, that halls would be taken, and such.
that these things are definitely coming soon.
could this be the spin that the wt is heading towards.....instead of facing the hard issues, make the issues the boogeyman and shut down the halls, giving the elders ultimate power?
"....the Rank and File should be prepared to be banned, to go underground, and persecution is coming soon, that halls would be taken, and such. That these things are definitely coming soon......"
Didn't Brother Russell say this over a frigging century ago??? It's just another line of BS that they're trying to pull.......although you never know: seeing as the GB refuse to change their pedophile policy, maybe with all the lawsuits and negative publicity they're getting will result in them being banned........gee, what shame THAT would be!
as an elder and judge at a judical committee hearing, their main job is supposed to be determining if the person is repentant, not guilty or innocent.
in the jw judicial system the guilt is almost always established prior to the hearing.
they either have two people that saw you commit the sin, or a confession.
If you are disfellowshipped what would you do? You can something simular to the above answer here but always include, how you're going to spend more time in field service. If you committed be a sin of a sexual nature, they might ask:
Did you enjoy it?
Did you have and ogasm?
Did you perform oral sex? Always answer NO to all three questions.
I got a better idea.......look at one of the elders straight in the eye when they ask this and say "you should know" and give him a big grin.
ok, here's my question.
how do you go from being a jw to being a whatever (methodist, lutheran, etc.
) i've been invited to go to many churches with friends, but, i have no desire to ever set foot in any church.
Buffy, you're not a bad person. Alot of people don't want to have anything to do with another religion after leaving "the truth", but on the other hand, many still feel the need to belong somewhere. Just give it time, don't rush anything. I know when I first found out that alot of our teachings weren't true, I started watching Garner Ted Armstrong on TV. It was in some ways, close to what JWs teach, but there were many things that were very different too. For a time I was enthralled and even read some of their literature. I stopped when I read their articles on how Anglo-Saxons are really the "Lost Tribe of Isreal". Totally stupid reasoning they had and I was disappointed once again. Then of course I checked out the Church of God's web site and saw that their rules were just as insane as ours.......and after that, Garner Ted Armstrong gets caught screwing around with some massage therapist and got his ass kicked out of the church he founded. That was enough for me!
If you are worried about your son, you may want to consider sending him to a Sunday School of some sort. Maybe an Interfaith or Non-denominational church??
the oct, 1, 2002 wt.
states: "as we approach the great tribulation, "the faithful and discreet slave" remains resolved not to compromise its obedience to the master, christ"..........any comments?
We're approaching the Great Tribulation?! Wow!! That must mean that Armageddon is (all together now:) Right Around The Corner!!!
Seeing as the GBs hard heartedness and stubborness rivals even the most dogmatic Pharisee, one can pretty well come to the conclusion that they don't give a damn how many kids are sexually abused, they're not going to change their policies. Obviously Jesus would never approve of such a brain-dead idea which leads one to the conclusion that the Feckless and InDiscreet Slave Class are really from their father the devil. And doesn't the bible say that Satan transforms himself in to an angel of light? "Therefore, it is nothing if his ministers do likewise."
"wait on jehovah.
"jehovah will sort it out.
how often have you heard that?
Jehovah will sort it out? What do they expect? That Jehovah will fly down from heaven with a flaming sword and stick it up the pedophiles' ass?
Perhaps Jehovah IS sorting it out: it's being all brought out in the open and not only are pedophiles being exposed, so are the Feckless and InDiscreet Slave Class for their lying, hypocritical, disgusting behavior.
well here's one that has really thrown me for a loop: .
as i mentioned in previous posts, i have a very rare form of cancer called clear-cell cancer and am due for an operation that will hopefully take care of it.
i've been an inactive witness for about 10 years but still go to the meetings occassionally.
Well here's one that has really thrown me for a loop:
As I mentioned in previous posts, I have a very rare form of cancer called clear-cell cancer and am due for an operation that will hopefully take care of it. I've been an inactive Witness for about 10 years but still go to the meetings occassionally. Everyone found out I have the cancer and what's really shocked me is the amount of support I've been getting from people at the Hall. They call, they send me flowers, cards, they come by to visit to see how I'm doing - I'm really quite stunned because the general rule of thumb is that if you're inactive, no one will bother with you. Hell, even the elders have come by to visit. And the REALLY strange thing is: no one has said anything about "you should go out in service, you should go to more meetings" etc.
There are nice people at my Hall and I generally don't blame them for all the crap that goes on in the Organization - I blame those at the top but I don't know what to make of this. Are they genuinely concerned or do they have an ulterior motive?
Anyone else ever get unexpected support and wonder what the hells going on? What should I make of this?
