1000 asked to leave Brooklyn Bethel!
by cyberguy in1000 were asked to leave brooklyn bethel (actually, this includes the farm and patterson) "voluntarily!
" only 6 replied to the request in the last 3 weeks.
it looks like the "waters" of bethel are drying up, or rather, their revenues are drying up!

Well now if they hurry, they could probably replace the "Watchtower Bible and Tract Society" with the "Enron" Symbol...........same damn thing: the morons at the top have been lying their asses off for years, putting on a happy face, thinking they'd never get caught, and once they do, who gets laid off? The people at the bottom............I'd love for the Governing Body to have to stand before Congress and answer some questions........
As for what the average joe at Bethel will do, well, that's anyone's guess: most of them have not a clue what the real world is like so it'll be a real eye opener for them.
I remember seeing a program on TV last year about Bethel......it showed the sisters in the laundry dept., and of course, they were thrilled to be doing everyone's laundry and they actually said "Well it has to be done this way, because people here wouldn't have time to do it themselves."
HEL-LOOOOOO!!! Ya, if I had someone to to my laundry, cook for me, and clean for me, ya, I could also spend hours a day studying.......not that I would......

Calgary girl ... struggle for life (help!)
by Simon inemail received from lawrence hughes, the father of the girl who is desparately ill from lukemia and has been involved in the recent court case with the watchtower...
simon ,.
my daughters health has improved because of the last chemo treatments.
-
Mary
Sorry, I don't know that much about Lukemia; does it attack the red or white blood cells? Can't she get a bone marrow transplant? Would this help her body to produce the necessary blood? And what about those machines that they put your blood throught to purify it (is that dialasis?)......has this been tried?
".....I was also led to believe, at least in Ontario (and I believe Alberta is the same) that our Government paid insurance plan covers out of Province/Country treatments as long as the plan approves it. Has Larry tried this or not? I would need to know this before I start donating....."
I doubt whether OHIP or Alberta Health Care would pay for it........they might pay for some, but it's hard to say. Sometimes, if a treatment isn't available in Canada, they will pay for you to go to the States, but Larry would have to look into this IMMEDIATELY. If he has extended health benefits through his work, that would be another opening for him. He would have to contact the Insurance company, explain the situation to them to see if they would pay for it. Some will, some won't. Seeing as it's such a high profile case, they just might.

JWs, Who are they patterned after?
by WildTurkey inif you asked a jw, who jehovahs witness were patterned after, they would all answer, the first century cong.
i also would have answered that way, when i was a dub.
but when reading my elder book, i found this:
-
Mary
Who are they patterned after? That's the easiest question I've had all day: The Borg, of course...........in fact, it should be called the Borganization..........hehhehehehehehehehe.........
Seriously, the JWs always liken themselves to the Israelites whenever it suits their purpose, but when ever the Isrealites were very, very naughty or stubborn, unfaithful, haughty or worshipped other gods and were cast off, then suddenly they become a pattern for Christendom. After all, we all know that the Borganization has never been stubborn, unfaithful, haughty or be guilty of false worship right???

They do too go beyond what is written...
by Marilyn intdogg started this on another thread.
his comments were:.
i wish i had that quote when i was told i had to wear a tie and suit to meeting, when i played chess, when i bought star wars figures, when i had to do at least 5 hrs of service a month, make a comment at every meeting, not wear top-sider shoes, never see a rated r movie, wear a no-blood bracelet, highlight all the answers in my watchtower, not play organised sports, not salute the flag,....anyone want to take over?......

The reason is that if you're only WATCHING these games, then you're not trying to IMPROVE your life by becoming a sports-hero and trying to get all kinds of people to worship YOU instead of Jehovah!!!

From what I recall, approximately 1/4 of the World population is Catholic, there's over a billion that's for sure. There's about 6 million Witnesses worldwide.
However, the actual numbers are not the point in this fiasco. The problem is: the Governing Body's policies is allowing pedophiles to get away with molesting children; they won't admit there's a problem, they accuse anyone who goes public with "apostacy" rather than admit they've made a huge mistake, and change their stupid policy..........look how long it took them to make a half-assed apology about 1975!!! It took years and even then they refused to take full responsibilty.
You may want to point out to your uncle that when the Catholic church scandal came to a head, NO ONE was threatened with ex-communication for going public with their stories of molestation and in fact, the Catholic church has said they will make changes at once. This is a far bigger step than what the leaders of the Society have done - they haven't done SQUAT. They are stubborn as mules and will not, under any circumstances, admit that there's a problem. That alone proves that they are neither faithful nor discreet as they like to claim - they're hypocrites......outside resembling white-washed graves, but inside they are full of dead mens bones.
Ask your uncle to cast back on the characteristics of the Pharisees and ask if he can see a resemblance here..........

Well, there's alot to choose from that's for sure.....let's see:
1. I can't recall Jesus going from door-to-door with the Watchtower and Awake scrolls;
2. there's nothing in the bible that even HINTS that 1st Century Christians were required to report how many scrolls they placed, or how many hours they spent preaching, or how many Return Visits they had;
3. Nothing in the bible saying you have to go to 5 meetings a week otherwise you will die at Armageddon;
4. Miracle Wheat ('nuff said)
5. No beards on brothers are allowed, otherwise, they're "worldly", but beards on sisters is okay (LOL!)
6. 'member the "no coloured shirts" policy years ago??
7. Smoking shows a total disregard for your body, but you can be an automechanic and breath in 10 times the poisons every day.
8. Getting drunk doesn't seem to be a problem for many in the Hall, but you can't smoke dope for relief of pain if you've had chemo.
9. You're not supposed to go see Arnie as the Terminator kicking the bad guys' ass, but it's okay to look at all the pictures in the Society's publications as to how all non-JW adults, children, old people and maybe even animals, will die at Armageddon;
10. It's great to point out the flaws in every other religion on earth, but to even question anything within the Organization is considered "apostacy".
11. You can't be on the basketball team or any other team after school, but you can go hang out at the mall or watch TV till your heart's content.
12. You can't hang around with anyone who's not a JW, even if they are moral, clean, nice, kind etc., but you can hang around other JW kids who secretly smoke, have sex, do drugs and only go to the meetings cause they don't know how to get out of it.
13. If you are raised a JW, you're not supposed to go to college or university to get a degree because that's "bad", but if you BECOME a Witness, and you have a degree in something, then that's absolutely wonderful!! -

JW's part of the WAR MACHINE
by pomegranate inthis may be aleady known, but for those that don't know: .
the watchtower society owns stock in company called rand cam engine corporation, a division of reg technologies.
this company makes components for smart bombs and the like.
-
Mary
ErieGuy:
Who cares if they don't have any "voting" power - they still OWN STOCK in a war machine - END OF STORY!! And don't give us this crap about it being "a gift"..................If I won the lottery and wanted to give the WTB&TS $100,000 (0% chance of this happening!), they apparently will refuse it, because it's ill-gotten money made from GAMBLING!!
So which is worse: accepting money from a lottery or accepting stock from a war maching???
You don't have to be Einstein to figure it out.............
