Excellent..........if there's one thing that bugs the GB more than anything, it's being lumped in with other cults - drives them nuts and there was actually an article on it a few years ago in the WT where they went to extra ordinary lengths to try and "prove" that they are not a cult like everyone else, even though the facts speak for themselves.
I almost think they'd rather be singled out for something specific that no other cult is accused of: that way, they can claim that it's Satan persecuting God's true religion........if you're simply lumped in with all the other nut case religions, then there's really no "individuality" there - and there's nothing to stop all the other cults from claiming the same damn thing: it's Satan persecuting them as they have the only true religion.
Yup, if things go their way, then it's Jehovah blessing His Organization, if they get exposed for what they really are, then it's Satan persecuting Jehovah's Organization.................

growing up as a witness you face rejection at every corner.. you go to school aged 5 and soon you are invited to a bithday party.you run home excited, but your parents say you cant go , a tell you to say you are a jehovahs witness.after that you friends are never the same , they treat you as someone different.some won't even be your friends anymore.you go through school having to miss holidays , religious services etc, and you can tell the teachers think you're odd.if your lucky enought to be quite a well balanced personality it may not effect you that much.or does it?.
do the scars of rejection dig deeper than you think?.

I find that my experiences when I was young definitely set me on a path for rejection as an adult. I hated having to stand outside the classroom for opening exercises, I never felt "proud", I felt like a total asshole day after day, year after year. Belonging to a religion that didn't allow me to participate in birthdays, Christmas, Hallowe'en, Thanksgiving or Easter Hunts, combined with my being chubby was a fertile ground for teasing, humiliation and rejection from my peers. I have very few good memories of school, let me tell you.
As an adult, people tend to accept you as who you are, and are not nearly as judgemental as when I was in school. But although I have many friends, a decent job and am going to get my degree, those feelings of worthlessness and rejection that I felt from Grade 1 right through to Grade 12, have never really left me, which is probably the main reason why I've never married - I can't comprehend why anyone would want to be married to me.
Yup, we're the happiest people on earth..............

Court case on DA/DF relevent to SilentLambs?
by Max Divergent ini've not seen this us court of appeal case before but think it may be important re the silentlamb cases and general da/df legal issues.
after her da, a janice paul sued the wts because she was "upset by her shunning by her former friends and co-religionists alleging common law torts of defamation, invasion of privacy, fraud, and outrageous conduct".
the court dismissed her claim observing that "*883 [7] we find the practice of shunning not to constitute a sufficient threat to the peace, safety, or morality of the community as to warrant state intervention.

Well, we can only hope........You're right about the extenuating circumstances though. If it can be reasoned that Jehovah's Witnesses risk being shunned by all their family and friends (and condemned to a "spiritual death") if they go to the police to report child molestation, and therefore, many do NOT report it, well I think this would be reason enough for the State to step in and allow lawsuits against the Society, as a deterent to them DF'd anyone who speaks out against abuse.
After all, you're not doing anything moral, scripturally or legally wrong by reporting this abuse, it's only the Governing Body's warped sense of decency that views this as "apostacy".

ISP: While I don't think anyone here knows EXACTLY what they'll try and disfellowship him with, chances are, the "charges" will be very similar, if not the same, as the "charges" against Barbara Anderson: 1) Undermining Jehovah's Arrangment of Things, and/or Disrupting the Unity of the Congregation.
They can't come right out and say "We're disfellowshipping you for going public on Dateline and exposing us as a bunch of liars and hypocrites", but that's exactly WHY he would be disfellowshipped.
The structure of the WTB&TS is very much like the army: you follow orders and you never, EVER question anyone in authority. To do so will get your ass booted out double time, even if you're right on.
