I think the religion of Islam is more dangerous that just someone riding on a camel in the dessert. These people are fanatical; they live for jihads, and send their sons (and even daughters now) off to blow themselves to smitheriens, thinking that they'll be rewarded in "paradise" with Allah.
Like I said in another post: these fanatics are an uneducated, backwards people. They cannot think for themselves, they can only act on what they're told from their leaders. They have no regard for life, either their own or the "infidel". It's a toss-up who they hate more: women or Americans.
They're sick, sick, sick, and I think it's payback time.

normally metatron would post an article similar to this, so when i read this information on yahoo news, i certainly found it appropriate for this discussion board.. i would like to see the watchtower bible and tract society and the organization known as jehovah's witnesses try to explain this one, since according to their doctrine only god is capable of creating life.. the scientists mentioned here are starting with single-celled organisms, but the next step from there would lead towards more complex biological creatures.
science is growing bone, restoring eyesight, healing diseases (with the potential of stem-cell research should this country ever get out from under the christian conservative bullshit of the bush administration) anything is possible.. just thought some may find this interesting reading..

Well it didn't happen to me, but when we were kids, my grandma lived in the other half of our house and my siblings and I all shared a bedroom.
One night both of my sisters woke up because there was a very bright light shining in the bedroom windows at both the side of the house and the front of the house. It was so bright that they couldn't even see the front lawn. They both said there was something "above" the house, but couldn't make anything out. They didn't want to wake up dad, because they were afraid he'd get his gun and go outside. There was no noise or anything, and they eventually drifted off back to sleep.
They weren't going to say anything (figuring no one would believe them), but the next morning my grandma told my dad that there was a very bright light shining in her windows the previous night, and that there was something hovering above the house.
We have no idea what this was to this day.

Shera & LB: thanks for the encouraging words! I want to start exercising again, but my doctor says I shouldn't exercise until 8 weeks after surgery. It's been 6 weeks now, so only another 2 to go.

Absolutely not: I'm just giving a rough example. Say you're out shopping with your kids on the weekend and everyone's hungry but you're not done shopping: so you go through McDonalds or another fast food restaurant. A burger is ALOT more expensive that the healthy foods they sell. Even in a grocery store, fresh fruits and fresh veggies can cost you a fortune this time of year.
Good food is not expensive, it is generally more effort... like my lentil burgers! YUM!
Actually, I've been eating veggie burgers for the last couple of months (trying to stay away from meat). For anyone interested, LICKS has the best veggie burger (they call it a Nature Burger), I've tried to date.

It's not religion in general responsible for this kind of stuff, it's the fanatics that cause all the problems. These absolutely disgusting, pathetic Islam Fundamentalists are worse than all other religions combined. These men are uneducated, backward, pathetic PIGS whose sole purpose in life seems to be repeating "Allah be Praised". None of them have any thinking power beyond killing infidels or even their own people if they do anything beyond what THEY deem suitable. Look what they were chanting in the streets "Down with Beauty!"
These men seem to have a hatred for women that they have learned from both their culture and their relgion.
As far as I'm concerned, I agree with LuckyLady: don't let any more of these people from these insane, backwards countries, into ours.

I'm overweight, so maybe I am in a unique position for this one.......first of all, I think it is totally INSANE that anyone fat should be allowed to sue McDonalds, or anyone else for making fattening food. Unless the employees kidnapped you, and force fed you for months, you are responsible for what you put in your mouth.
Food is an addicition, there's no doubt about it. I turn to food when I'm stressed, just like an alcoholic reaches for a drink, or a smoker reaches for a cigarette. The worse thing is: being addicted to food is not like other addictions. If you're an alcoholic, you have to give up ALL booze; drugs? same thing. Cigarettes? Yep, give them all up. With food, you can't just stop eating. You have to eat to live. The trick therefore, is trying to eat smaller amounts, and also eat foods that are good for you. However, if you've ever attempted to eat healthy, you'll notice it costs you a hell of a lot more $$$ than what junk food does. Let's take McDonalds for example. On Tuesdays you can get a Chicken burger for $1.00. However, if you want a healthy low fat salad of their's, it'll cost you over $5.00. Perhaps part of the problem is that people simply can't afford good nutritious food for their families.
But when you're used to eating all the fattening foods that taste so damn good, switching to fruits and veggies can be extremely difficult. However in my case, I have managed over the last 2 1/2 months, to lose 29 pounds. It hasn't been easy and I've still got a long haul ahead of me. However, I would never in a million years consider suing any restaurant for serving "fattening food" because I ate it of my own free will. These people who are pursuing this lawsuit should all hang their heads in shame.
One thing though I would like to see changed is that all fast food restaurants should have to display how many grams of fat are in each of their burgers. I think the Whopper has something like 72 grams of fat in it - 3 days worth!!

I'm British decent (my grandparents came from England), but man oh man are the British ever fickle. Take one look at how the Royal Family is treated: The majority of British people want to keep the Monarchy, but if any of them turn their head the wrong way, then the media is down their throats in a second. It seems as those the tabloids just love to put one of them on a pedestal only to knock them off with a bomb.
Look at what's happened since Paul Burrell, Diana's butler was charged with stealing all her items. First, they praise the Queen for coming to his rescue, and then in the next breath, they're down her throat for "fixing the trial". Prince Charles was initially praised for intervening, then he's the subject of a viscious attack by an alledged rape that took place years ago by one of his servants.
Five years ago, the British were ready to lynch Camilla-Parker-Bowles; now they're all waiting for her and Charles to tie the knot. They also brought Fergie to the point of suicide when they published pictures of her topless; now they have nothing but praise for her. Diana was also out of favour with the tabloids when she died; then suddenly, she was "The People's Princess".
